12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Blue inchies frame finished - Thank you on: April 15, 2012 02:59:04 AM
I managed to get my blue inchie frame finished!!!! Most of the inchies were crafted by fellow craftsters and exchanged as part of some craftster inchie swaps. I also probably made about 50 of these inchies myself - including the last 35 to finish the project.

The frame came from a garage sale, and although it was already blue, I added some pearlesant blue paint to make it shine. It contains 396 inchies.

Contibuting craftsters were:
Yumjello01, Howlovely, LlisaRedd, Calluna, Eamea, Oodelally, Pogo, Rainfallingonatinroof, Robinpich, Mandys_momma, Kimchery (and her son), Mini_mum, Melmakespretty, JillHogan, Smmart, Seeuudee, Oddments&tweaks, Mod35Tbabe, Crazyalien8, quasior (and her son), Audio, carole73,  C*Lientje and Krismith. My appologies if I have forgotten anyone.

ETA - I forgot to mention Skittlebub, she made the blue origami star for me - I can't make these to save myself! It's in the top left picture near the bottom of the photo.

Thank you all for swapping with me and making these amazing wall art projects possible.

Here are a few closer pictures:

Eta again - I just recieved 6 amazing blue inchies from Phizzychick in a personal swap, so I'm off to remove some of my dodgy creations and add hers!

Here is a photo of my purple inchie frame that I completed last year. My next plan is to do a black and white one.

13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Amazingly beautiful table cloth - charity shop find!!!! on: April 04, 2012 09:00:22 PM

I really really want to stress that this isn't my work, but I just had to share this amazing table cloth that a friend of mine found in a charity shop, she can't remember exactly what she paid, but she knows it wouldn't have been more than an dollar or two.

I think that you will agree that who ever did this amazing piece of work is a very skilled and patient person. The cross stitch is so delicate and the blue lines - sorry I don't know what this technique is called - are just beautiful.

Our plan is to delicately quilt it and make it into a wall hanging, so it can be enjoyed in all it's glory.

Qudos to the person who made this, I can only wish that one day I could consider my work this accomplished.

Way back in December 2010, I decided that Id like to try inchies, as I had seen lots of amazing inchies on these forums and I'd love to give it a shot. The problem was I'm about as artistic as a broom stick! However, I've since found that with a bit of inspiration, it isnt so hard to make a 1" square piece of card look good. I was afraid that some of the more professional inchie makers may be a bit disappointed with my efforts (although I'm sure they would be encouraging!), so I thought that a beginners inchie swap would be the key. Now we are onto Round 3 and I'm hoping that there are people like me out there who would love to try their hand at inchie making, and just need some inspiration to start.

For anyone who is not sure what and inchie is or how to go about making one, here is a great post on the paper craft forums by phizzychick (who makes amazing inchies!)

This swap is primarily for people who have never before (or rarely) turned their hand to paper crafts and inchies but would love to do some experimenting. But all are welcome, if you are a more skilled or experienced inchie maker please feel free to join in too and share some inspiration with the beginners.

The bonus is that we can probably post these as Cards or letters and avoid high postage charges so international swapping won't be too costly. Plus we won't be requiring a DC for this swap, but you MUST remake and resend if your inchies don't turn up. This is a no extras swap, if you want to send more than just the inchies (like maybe an ATC), then please do this as a personal swap thanks.

You will have the choice of 1 or 2 or 3 partners and you will be required to send 8 inchies to each partner. You will have just over 2 weeks crafting time.
It will be necessary to list 5 themes on your questionnaire, Id like to suggest some themes that you might use that seem to be popular, but if you have your own ideas that that is fine too.

1. Single colour or colour spectrum
2. Nature trees/leaves/flowers etc
3. Crafty items - scissors/thread/tape measure/knitting needles etc.
4. Monsters/robots/aliens
5. Zentangles and patterns
6. Hearts, stars and stripes
7. A favourite TV show, Movie or book
8. Animals (or a specific animal cats / pigs etc)
9. Food & beverages veggies, coffee, fruits, cupcakes
10. Artists Choice (usually inspired by your wist/pintrest)

15  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / TM patches swap round 2 on: March 22, 2012 09:19:26 PM
Thanks to all those who participated in Round one of the Teesha Moore patches swap.

I have been asked by a couple of people, when the next round will be, however after discussion with Silvermoon, we have both decided that we both have too many other commitments (life and swapwise) to be organisers of round two.

Instead of postponing round 2 for an indefinate amount of time, we would like to throw open the swap to anyone else who might like to organise/co-organise.

Here is a link to jillybeans' amazing Harry Potter TM tote to inspire you!

16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Recent issues with Au-Canada and Canada-AU Shipping on: March 10, 2012 03:12:45 PM
As an organiser and participant I have experienced ALOT of issues recently with sending from Australia to Canada and vice versa. I know that there have been discussions here in the past about the 'toxic' combination but until recently I haven't had any issues.

I would like to urge organisers to think twice about partnering AU and Canada participants and if you are taking part in a wishlist style swap, it might be worth consdering skipping a swap between the 2 countries.

This makes me rather sad and I know some amazing craftsters in Canada, but hopefully things will improve and it will only be for a short time. Please comment here if you believe that things have sorted themselves out.
17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tm patches swap bag - finished on: February 20, 2012 09:59:01 PM
I recently took part in the Teesha Moore Patches swap. I had 3 partners and recieved 6 patches plus an extra in a small personal swap (Thank you silvermoon, Gozer, Schnerby and Waggonswest). The rest are my work. I decided to make a bag as I thought it would be ultimately most useful.

I had great fun experimenting with the teesha moore technique, but it's just not my style. Now to figure out what to do with my bag!
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ongoing inchie swap round 2 (OIS2) on: February 10, 2012 06:38:30 PM
Kimchery and I are planning the second round of the Ongoing inchie swap. Signups will start in the next day or two with the first claims commencing on 15th Feb. The final claims will be made on 15th March. 2 week crafting and sending time as last time. I just wanted to make sure that there was enough interest before we go ahead and launch. Please post here if you are interested.

19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Why No extras? on: January 28, 2012 02:29:13 AM
I have seen a couple of swaps recently where organisers have requested that you send 'No Extras'. As someone how organises swaps on a fairly frequent basis I just wondered if anyone would mind letting me know why you add the  'no extras' condition to your swaps? Simpler? Quicker sends? less complicated??
20  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Decorate an Army surplus canvas bag on: December 26, 2011 04:43:21 AM

Ok, so I have been using a bag like this or similar as my everyday bag for YEARS and I usually only have to replace them once every couple of years, so they go pretty good. I have in the past decorated them in various ways. I wondered if anyone would be interested in buying then decorating /embelishing a bag similar to the one pictured above and swapping it with a partner.

I'm thinking embroidery (although they are DAMN hard to get a needle through!), patches, fabric paint, adding pockets / loops and hooks inside etc.

Timeframe wise, I probably wouldn't start signups intil after the New year swap rush, so say Februaryish and I'd be giving people maybe a 6 week crafting period so that you have plenty time to source and decorate your bag.

Anyone interested?
