1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Vintage Handwarmers on: February 02, 2009 07:32:48 AM
these are really adorable - i think fingerless gloves really are best in vintage styles, and the buttons and colour of the yarn really suits them. i'm not sure i'd be able to develop a thumb by myself, but you did a great job!

i would, but it's from a book rather than free on the web, so it's probably not a great idea - but it's debbie bliss's simply baby (http://www.debbieblissonline.com/Book.asp?bid=43) and the teddy is on page 67. maybe your lys or even library has a copy you can take a look at. this little guy (http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/toys/beanbear.htm) is similar, he just needs a nose.
if you can't find the book, let me know and i will see what i can do.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / long lost blog update on: February 01, 2009 03:18:46 PM
so, my blog sat ignored for, oh, 2 years? and in the fine art of procrastination, i updated tonight. so, check out http://knitterlyfashion.blogspot.com/2009/02/hm.html if you want...

here's a taste of the f.o. that were posted:

this is the debbie bliss teddy from simply baby, in sock yarn. this little guy was fast to knit (he's about 8" tall) and a lot of fun. putting the face on gave him so much character!

this is the michael kors aran tee from VK holiday '05 - i planned to make it for 2 years, and then it was in progress for another two. i steamed through the last half though, and if i'd been really working on it, it would have take 3 weeks, maybe. it's a little wide in the shoulders, but i like it - knitpicks wool of the andes in pumpkin.

and this is my baby, eunny jang's wave stole - it's absolutely huge, knit in knitpicks baby alpaca laceweight, it turned out to be nearly 7 feet long. it went fairly quickly for such a complicated piece, but it is worth it. so soft! i don't know when i'll go for the lace again, but it was a great challenge.

thanks all! hopefully i will be around more, i used to be such a lurker.

i just got the yarn for this today - just in time for the first snowfall in toronto. brr! maybe i'll add some length to the sleeves.
i'm using knitpicks' wool of the andes in pumpkin, which is a lovely fall orange that manages not to be halloween-y. totally excited.
next step: swatch!

that is beautiful! when i make mine, i'll add the extra few inches, too, since i think the original is too boxy. i was wondering where to put the extra space, yours looks so great!

i can't decide between avocado and pumpkin. such a tough choice!!! arans are sort of traditionally white and cream, since it does show off the stitchwork so well. hmm. i guess a swatch couldn't hurt, huh?

so, i am thinking of starting this sweater for fall, and to give myself a break from the lace that i am currently working on. i am thinking knitpicks wool of the andes in avocado - but everyone's white ones are so beautiful. i look much better in colours though :-) i think i read that bijou is using wool of the andes - how are you liking it?
8  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Knitty's nautie on: August 16, 2006 09:38:09 AM
it was much easier for me to make mine without stripes - fewer things to think about at one time.
there was also one made head-down, and stuffed and rolled up afterward, sewing it together as they went - that might be easier if you're stuck.

me, too, kelliz. looks like we were just a little too late. it must have been good, for photobucket to block something *knitted*
10  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: eunny jang's print o' the wave stole on: July 11, 2006 09:32:59 PM
oooh, jealous. i sat mine down in frustration too long ago, and fear a fourth attempt at the edging. i think i will just knit them all separately and graft them all on. i hope it works out, because yours is so beautiful!
