1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / saturday scribbling [added: cobra lily] on: March 27, 2010 03:26:09 PM
i threw myself a pity party today. i sulked about and did some pen and ink drawings. here is my favorite, some odd beatle.

i think i'd like to add some color, but i'm not sure.

ADDED:i was also busy drawing my boyfriend's planta carnivora, the cobra lily. i figured i'd take up a little less forum space adding this to my current post..

my mom has loved sleepytime tea for as long as i can remember. and i always loved the picture of the bears on the box. so, for her birthday i'm giving my mom a version of that bear..

gah! such awful photos here, but it's the best i could do at the moment. bad lighting and all that..

not as fanciful as my other illustrations, but i like it :]
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / not a card, per se on: February 22, 2010 06:09:52 PM
about 20 minutes ago, i found out i'd be going home for a few days. i'll be leaving before the boyfriend gets home, so i whipped this up:

just pen on cardstock..

...you know, just to be cute and stuff.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / [first post] ghostly sisters -an illustration [updated with inspiration picture] on: February 20, 2010 07:22:51 PM
hi there craftster.

i've been frolicking here for....years. i think i may have posted a few recipes, asked some questions, and given out some kudos, but i've never actually posted anything of mine.

i'm a bit shy, i suppose. anyway, here is an illustration i did for my sister, for her 18th birthday. it's a 'likeness' of the two of us.

it's not a great picture, i snapped it on the way to the airport. it's watercolor, ink, and patterned paper.

this is the picture that sort of inspired everything. i think we look like ghosts.

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / The Book of ____ & ____ (has txt muffin top!) on: January 10, 2009 07:54:02 AM
as in...a lot of reading ahead? Yeah, not funny? Poo.

With just barely a month before Valentine's Day, I've come up with an unfortunately epic project. Epic as in long, tedious, meandering. And with my track record of...consistent procrastination, I'm a little quite frightened for myself. It's more or less an interactive (for lack of a better term) journal in which I will be chronicling our (painfully long...just kidding) 5 year+ relationship. I know I should hand bind my own book in true craftster from. But, to be honest, I'm no book binder. I am of the mindset, and this is only because I cannot multi-task, to learn a few crafts, and learn them REAL GOOD LIKE. So I'm buying(for shame!) a small sketch book. This is where I get to utilize my craft, because I'm more of an illustrator than a paper crafts wizard. I'm going to try to give this little book a Wreck This Journal feel, but with more laughs. I decided I wanted reoccurring themes or sections. Below I've listed some of the ones I've come up with thus far.

  • short comics
  • relationship sensitive survival tips
  • coupons (going to try to keep these witty, possibly raunchy)
  • "Hall of Lame" (things we've encountered that suck)
  • random facts/trivia about relationships
  • OMG! blank pages for note-worthy occasions
  • blank pages for movie tickets, fortune cookies, etc.
  • other things of significance that happened on our anniversary
  • randomly placed puzzles (sudoku, text twist, etc)
  • a "jail cell" time line of how long we've been together..
  • "How 'bout that time..."
  • page of random trivia about me
  • blank page for random trivia about him
  • apartment scavenger hunt
  • small sections of blank pages for notes/observations
Roll Eyes

The rest will be mostly illustrations/short comics depicting inside jokes we have, and that list is long, but without back stories, isn't worth laying out. I plan to post pictures as I go, although I'm not 100% sure as to which board this is appropriate. It may very well carry over into a birthday present (June) or even, though I doubt it, a Christmas present. It would like to be a Valentine's Day gift, but my list of "coulda been" gifts far exceeds it's younger, smaller sickly sister list of completed gifts.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. If you have an idea for a theme or section, or if you have any comments on the ones I've laid out so far, I'd love to hear them. Also, if you plan on making something similar, let me know, I'd love to see how yours progresses.

To quote my good friend, Borat, "I'm very excite!"
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / could you point me in the direction.. on: December 08, 2008 01:41:04 PM
of a patter or tutorial for making an infinity scarf. the pic included is from urban outfitters. i don't need to make the EXACT scarf, i just want the basic idea..it's like a giant cowl. i am learning to crochet on the double to make a christmas present. (don't worry i have a back up plan)  if i can't i can't but i'm going to try.

i'm guessing this scarf is ridiculously simple. but if you could just link me to something helpful that's be beyond great. i'm a broke broke broke college kid this year and i'm on this present crunch...

p.s. i would never ever even attempt a fancy stitch like this..not yet
