21  Re: Little Visitor 11 Winter Galleries !!! in The Swap Gallery by spectrumsparksie on: February 25, 2010 07:41:11 PM
Orty is home! And has been for a while.  Embarrassed  He was and still is full of stories from his trip to the US.  A2K certainly showed him a good time. Here he is with a pic of all the goodies he brought back with him.

There is some lovely hand knit mittens, and a scarf. (that's why I love swapping with you A2K!) Thank-you. Lots of sweets that we don't get here, including some salt water taffy which confused us all, but has been enjoyed by us all.  And Orty managed to find 3 different places to make a smashed penny (which if you recall I knew nothing about before we joined this swap)!  A2K sent him a tea towel which was made on a vintage loom.  And a cute drum thing which had me chuckling as its tag said "made in china" as well as "native american made" so I guess there was a native american working in a factory in China?  Huh LOLz.
Orty went to the craft store with A2K and in the inset you can see him cavorting in the buttons.  He brought home a bag full!
The other inset photo shows Orty choosing his fossil stones.  The kids are fascinated with them.

Here are a couple of my fave pages from the awesome scrapbook and A2k send a whole heap on a flash drive too, clever girl!

What an absolutely beautiful place to call home.

The pics that made the kids green with envy, The SNOW!

Thanks for being a wonderful host to Orty A2K.  He is on cloud nine and so are all the family.

23  Steampunk transmogrifier in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by spectrumsparksie on: February 17, 2010 11:20:08 PM
Poor Nostrum's boyfriend got flaked in for the craft for my other swap (and she was organiser! How rude!) I stepped in to angel for her/him and had a blast creating some steampunky/wunderkammer type things for her/him.
The transmogrifier is constructed from an old art box that one of my students was throwing out at the end of the school year.  Lots of bits of brass from old lights and light fittings which came from my local waste recycling place, some old bulbs, a bit of an old broken clock and glue, lots and lots of glue.

There is a battery operated tea light candle inside the base-y bit and it looks really cool (I think) at night.  The art box still slides open to use for storage for the notes they keep as they use the transmogrifier to convert their enemies into whatever they desire.  The mermaid mummy was made from old wire which had been in my vegie patch, some plasticine and some toilet paper. The ray gun was a Ben-10 plastic one that I stole from my son's massive collection, don't tell him he hasn't noticed yet.

24  Re: Leave pass jewelry (img heavy) in Get Product and Website Opinions by spectrumsparksie on: January 20, 2010 02:17:38 AM
Well a year has gone around and my hubby is off to another wargames convention.  He asked me to make some more jewellery for him to sell.  So I did! Grin
He is off tomorrow for 5 days.  Here is a picture of my part of his display.  Wish us luck!

I used his business logo for the sign except I gave it my own flair by making it rainbow coloured.

25  Re: Help me make this wrap and snap sweatshirt!! Patterns, advice? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by spectrumsparksie on: November 07, 2009 08:51:25 PM
Here's my thoughts on the matter.

In the picture on the left, the part marked x should actually go under the other flap. so it wraps like in the second image.
the flap that is on the top has a hole where the X is marked.  Then the part marked x on the first part goes through that hole and you can tie or snap in the back.

I hope I made some sense and it doesn't sound too much like hunting for missing pirates treasure.

I made an angel package for snazzyjazzy who got flaked on.  Cry  Here is a teaser pic, all the raw materials from my op shopping.  I posted it to her on Monday, Australia>>NZ shouldn't take too long.  Snazzy can post what these items were used to create when she receives. (coz I forgot too.  doh!)

Hope there's something you like snazzy.

27  Re: Monster Mash Swap round 2 gallery in The Swap Gallery by spectrumsparksie on: October 23, 2009 06:13:25 PM
I received from koalascout a coupla days ago and boy oh boy! did she go all out.
Firstly, not one, but 2 yes 2 George Sanderson stuffies, before and after the sock incident (Monsters Inc. if anyone was wondering)

then again she made 2!  zombie stuffies with detachable limbs and a whole heap of extra dismembered appendages for them.  The kids and I have been having a ball with these.

Then some beautiful crafting storage thingies, a needle book and a crochet hook/painbrush holder. I love the halloween fabric for these. Check 'em out.  Jealous yet?

Still going......can you believe it?
This Cool little Roz tote, that she handpainted.  That is going straight to work with me.

not only but also....
koalascout stalked my wists and bought me this cool zombie stuffie, made me 2 sets of stinky shoe sachets (they stink nice, my feet stink bad), and the cutest little birdie brooch, and included in this photo a gorgeous beautifully made draw string bag with I think you call it candy corn or something? we don't have it in Australia.

She also sent a cute Sully pez and some fabric and keyrings from her home state.
Thanks koalascout you are truly an awesome partner and I hope you are not too let down with what you received in exchange.

Here is Max showing what his Australian cousins look like.  We went walking in the bush and could hear them all calling to him, but we couldn't sight any.  Max did have a closer encounter with some Aussie wildlife but we will save that for his scrapbook.

Here is a picture of my little Aussie friend, Ortho the Ornithorhynchus.  We just call him Ortho or Orty.  He is keen to see other parts of the world.  But he is very frightened, because lots of others tease him and say he is a made up animal and there couldn't really be a creature like him on this earth, but there is, so there! (he is feisty as well).

Whatever LV comes to see me and my family they will experience the joys of an Australian summer.  What an escape!

30  Re: Swap a Yard of fabric- July '09 in New Swap Theme Ideas by spectrumsparksie on: July 23, 2009 03:07:02 AM
Hi Girls
I claimed early on in the swap from Klum, cute alien fabric and told myself I would not claim again unless I used what I had claimed.
As soon as the fabric arrived my ds said "oooh can you make me pyjamas?".  So I ignored my fifty thousand other ufos and made him these.
Thanks for the fabric Klum!
