Joyful, I love what yofi sent you!

And feast your eyes on what I received from yofi today. They both have perle thread, which I don't have in my stash but now must get! I love the compositions of both of them, and so much texture, not to mention the lovely stitches! I'm not that great of a photographer so hope you can see the texture, in the black one especially.

I love how the colorful chain stitches are coming out of the receptacle - kind of like flowers/plants out of a vase or nice aromas out of a carafe.

I love the plant on the right, the vine, the weaving. I love it all  Grin

Thanks yofi for being a great partner!

Wow, I love how different those two are from all the others. The diversity in our gallery really is amazing! When I first looked at the "dragon" I thought it was a deer in the trees. That's the story I'm sticking with!

And I love the range of the fabrics and stitching in the blue one.

There isn't one thing in this gallery that I don't want  Grin

Yeah, those are awesome. I'll say again, the variety is really incredible. Everybody has had their own unique take on this project, it's very inspiring. I've been stitching more little patches every day. I think I'm getting better at spontaneously putting randomness together into something nifty. I can't help feeling like I should have practiced more before making what I made for this swap. I sent very carefully pieced projects and now I find myself loving the organic look so much more than that. Oh well, stitch and learn, right? Wink.

ME TOO!

Stitch, learn.....and prepare for round two!

Yes, I'm going to practice, practice, practice!

Noodle-bug - I love your work, this is what I aspire to. Seriously!

Re: the cheescloth, it is/was starched cheesecloth that is used in bookbinding - a total experiment. I inkstamped a fern onto some paper, used it as a template and sewed it over the base cloth that was covered with a piece of the cheesecloth. then tried to rip the paper off, similar to paperpiecing. But the the image was so small that I couldn't tear all the paper away. I kind of liked how that looked so left it!

every single piece in this gallery so far has made me go 'why didn't I think of that?' Over some detail, idea or technique Cheesy

I know, right?!

19  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Slow Cloth/Boro Style Patches - Signups 9/18 - 10/1, Sendouts 10/31/16 on: November 01, 2016 06:22:36 PM

I'm not sure I managed to pull off the theme of this swap so well. While there are many bits of fabric and lots of little teeny stitches in my work, I couldn't seem to let go and get random. Everything turned out sort of orderly if you know what I mean? I have this same problem with Teesha Moore squares. Though I love them so and try my very best to make them "messy" they often end up looking quite "finished" instead Tongue.

I feel the same way about what I made. That's the thing about "first swaps," they sometimes are a real learning experience. I think the next round I'll be a little better? I hope!

I too struggle with doing randomness, but love the way it looks. I'm in love with that green leafy one that JoyfulClover made, you did such an amazing job!!
