11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: March 03, 2009 07:56:22 AM
Hi all! I get to join you guys now ::squee::

We just got engaged, but we're planning to get married on 10/10/10 (which is a BIG wedding day!) so I need to get my butt in gear with our vendors! Plusssss..... I'm just so excited to craft that I don't think I could possibly wait any longer to start playing! Smiley

So my to do list:
Save the Dates, Invites, Thank Yous, Programs (Good thing FH is a graphic designer! woot woot!)
Bouquets (mine and my BMs)
Bouts for the boys
ALLLL the decorations (I've agreed to ONE type of flower, used sparingly lol)
Centerpieces
Favors (though I'm really leaning toward a candy bar, since FH and I are the biggest sweet-tooths (sweet-teeth? lol) EVER! I'd be REALLY happy if there were tons of leftovers and we got to take pounds and pounds of candy on our honeymoon lol)
My jewelry, BM jewelry (and I want to knit shrugs for all of us)
Something for the moms... all 3 of them lol... will tackle ideas later...
Aaannndddd.... a bunch of other stuff that I just have no clue about... ha! Good thing I have a WHILE to get all this done!!

Oh... longest post ever. Will work on my short-hand next haha

I keep frogging my biggest project... I've changed my mind about the ______ only 108 times!! But I have a couple smalls done!

I just learned that my favorite girl- and only non-family bridesmaid- is leaving me this fall!! She's applying for jobs in Chicago and I want to cry Sad But she'll have fun, and it's only a 5 hour drive.... I think I'll live (barely, but I think so haha)

On a happy note- I'm having a candy bar at the wedding. Like a bar, but with candy... (not a Hershey's bar or whatever, lol) I <3 candy almost more than I <3 my FH! hahaha yuummmmm (It's really pathetic when my 11 year old sister lectures me about eating too much candy lolol)

About the books being "intended" for a younger audience... I actually vehemently refuse to let my little sister even THINK about reading them at LEAST till she's in high school!! (She's 11 going on 21- and when I described it to my step-mom, she agreed)

I'm a latecomer to Team Edward- I just happened to be at Borders the night of the BD release party, and I asked one of the moms what was going on (had never really heard of the series) So she starts telling me about the books she's allowing her 14 year old to read, and she's using words like "seductive", "sexy", "intense" etc. I was so grossed out that those "little girls" (NO offense to anyone, that was my mind set at the time) were reading stuff like that and it totally turned me off of the books.

Then my best friend read them out of sheer boredom on train rides in Europe last summer and I caved at her insistence. And I STILL think that younger girls should not read it.

I mean really- I was sooooo overdamatic and full of teen angst in high school, I'm so sure that I really would have needed to read books like this. I wouldn't have been able to handle the disappointment in the (jackass) boys at my school, and my ridiculous love affair with a fictional character lol!!

Grr... ok, I'm done with my rant. But I really really REALLY think that these should have been (and kind of were) written for an older audience...

(and just imagine how wonderful it would be if some of the scenes in the books were ADULT oriented.....) ::fans herself desperately::

Krafty- not sad at all!! No way!

I have a Twilight poster on my office wall at work hahaha- I can't put it up at home or FH will tease me relentlessly lol

I don't think you'll find him, Krafty, I think HE'LL find YOU! That's how I've seen it work anyway, which can be a bummer- just when you're about to give up for real, there he is! No worries girl, just keep on being you and there he'll be!!  Wink

Aaahhhh, Haylie you MUST read it! It was soo excellent to see everything from Edward's POV and it made me adore him even more!

And for anyone considering reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels- FOR SURE start with the first book!!! Oh man, on vaca I picked one up at the airport (we were so stupid early for our flight that I finished the last book I had with me lol) and it was a baaaaad idea! It was a great book, but it was a new one- like the 8th book in the series or something? And now that I'm reading Dead Until Dark it's so completely screwed up the plot for me.... dangit!

Question for anyone with a SO when you watched Twilight- did it not totally make you wish you're SO was a little more dangerous? hahahaha, I was so close to getting my boy a giant pocket knife for Christmas after I saw that.... the dance scene at the end of the movie totally did it for me... ::sigh:: hehehe Grin

Fiiiiinally stopped for 6 seconds to take some pics for you guys! (Posting these suckers everywhere, and emailing to everyone I know! hahahahaha)

Here's my ring!!

Excuse my ick hands- I'm a project mgr at a prototype shop (ie: lots of metal work, helping on the big machines and gernerally screwing my girly hands, lol)

It's kind of hard to see because I don't have a clue how to change my flash lol but it's one of those 3 stone eternity rings, and I looooove it and the boy has the best taste on earth!!

To make this post swap related in SOME way- I have cast on for the biggest project ever! I'm super glad that we have so long to craft lol, I think this'll take me days and days! haha

What are your wedding colors?

I agree, a different color ribbon would be nice! (I would definitely use a different font than the sample, too) And (depending on how much of the invite you actually print on) maybe add a little border at the bottom of the invite? Like... some made-up molecule chain?

Look at how pretty this one is! (Or something similar)

I think the different shades of grey would look so neat with the pinstripes!

Good luck! Smiley

Awww, Rira I'm so sorry! That super sucks! But Mr. Hippie and I has suuuuch a hard time when we first moved in together but a little space and separation totally helps! Good luck girl!! I hope whatever YOU want happens! (Whether that's you guys staying together or the Mr. being attacked by rabid red ants...  Lips sealed )

Edwards1, I totally feel you- I'm so happy for you that your mom has totally seen the light!! haha

And my soundtrack? Dunno... I usually read while the FH watches movies/tv, so I never really connect music to what I'm reading! But I'm TOTALLY playing Flightless Bird at my wedding!!

Aw, he didn't dress like Edward lol but he did it on the beach in Santa Monica, under the pier at midnight right after we saw a baby seal on the beach! So cute!! He gave me a cute little picture puzzle that spelled "will you marry me?" in pics and letters (I LOVE puzzles- a logic puzzle addict!) and he got down on one knee in the sand! It was sooooo cute, I love him! Smiley
