541  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crochet pattern for a Yamulka, anyone? on: November 19, 2004 08:35:24 PM
maybe try doing just the beginning rows of Beppycat's 1930s cloche hat with flower, posted on completed projects board with pattern.  when you don't have the whole thing done, the hat looks and fits like a yarmulke.

I would do anything for some homemade soap!  but unfortunately I can't figure out how you got the point.  I was trying to figure it out when I did my hat, and at a certain point I remember thinking, oh maybe... but the thought is looooong gone.  ok I am going to try and replicate it.  but not right now.  wishing you luck!

you have a real talent.  (I already posted back to your sea turtle)

I am not in college but I was umm... 10 years ago.  (jeez, how time flies)  I am going to go check out your blog now!

clowns are scary.  but your book looks great!  I am supposed to be doing my first coptic book as I write, but I'm too intimidated!

btw - what movie is your avatar from?  sorry I'm so out of it...

It's fantastic!!!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE turtles!  thank you for posting the pattern.  I have some dark green yarn and I am totally going to make this!!!  it's totally turtlelicious!!!

great job!

btw, I don't know why, but in the post, I couldn't see your picture (oddly, now I can see it in the reply).  But I wanted to see it to badly that I right-clicked on where the picture should be, saw the properties, copy and pasted the url into a new browser window and there it was!  so darn cute!

it looks great!

I love how there is not an exactly straight line between the two colors!   is that seed stitch?  I waas trying to peer at it and figure it out but I'm not so up on all my stitches.

very nice job!

it's great!  I love how you kept the Betsy-tacy theme throughout.  It looks great.  I know you are going to be so happy every time you use it!

You know I just can't get enough of this thread.  I look everyday to see if there is a new hat up.  Everyone's hat is so cute and so distinctly different, I love it!

Arabella... I think your hat is great.  I also pain over the placement of the infamous flower... I think your placement looks great, kinda "salsa-esque".

Jessy

I'm doing the same thing!  checking it all the time, I mean.

yay ok you got my placement exactly! I was going for a tropical flower-behind-the-ear look.

your last hat is awesome too - is that a button you used in the middle of the flower?

oh my gosh I have to go start my sister's hat!!

Beppycat, the pattern is so, so, good!  even my boyfriend wants me to adapt it slightly to make him a [muslim] prayer hat.  maybe without the flower...  Smiley

Jessy, you know what's funny about your signature?  in spanish "la red" means "the network"!  it's like long live the network connection to craftster so we can keep making and posting cute hats!

(my first crocheted project posting!)

NaeNae - my hat is really stretchy.  Maybe because I did it with two strands of fine yarn held together - I'm not sure.  but I think I could easily fit a fro under there.  I hope so, because I am making one for my sister and she has a lot, a lot of hair.

here is the one I made for my mom as one of her christmas presents.  It will look cuter on her!

the pattern is great!  easy to follow, works up fast.  I think this is the first time I didn't modify a pattern, but followed it to the end.  Am I the only one that had total angst over the best flower placement?  I am not so thrilled with how my flower turned out (I think it was the yarn, or maybe my crochet skills) and I made a few mistakes (maybe skipped/added a stitch here and there) but overall I am really happy with the hat!

p.s. Sykospark - your green looks awesome and I like your idea about the scalloped edging...think I'll copy it for my sister's hat!

very cute!  congrats on finishing your first crochet project!

I have been wanting to make some crochet flowers myself (I've never done it before either) but haven't got around to it yet.

did you use a tutorial/pattern?
