1  Re: Introducing...THE PAJAMA SKIRT!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by arabella on: May 04, 2007 10:39:05 AM
update - I made one last year.  (and I had totally forgotten about this thread so thanks for bumping it!)  I made the elastic waistband really loose so it's super comfortable!

I'm not exactly following the format, but wanted to say I got one present done!  yay!  the good ole cabled scarf for my partner.  it was supposed to be last year's gift, but yeah, you know.

and I'm hard at work on a hat for my mom's partner now.

3  Re: blocking.... in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by arabella on: April 13, 2007 05:48:04 PM
I was actually just coming here to ask if I should block the good ole cabled scarf made from Lion Brand Wool Ease?  (mostly acrylic, partly wool).  will blocking do anything?  It's a present for my partner so I have to plan carefully if I want to block it, that's why I'm asking instead of just trying it.  (ok maybe also because I'm a bit lazy!)

just for fun here is a pic of the scarf.

4  Re: crocheting for men in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by arabella on: March 31, 2007 02:21:28 AM
the men I showed like this one (made for a man):

it's just alternating sc and ch1, e.g:
row 1 sc, ch1, repeat till end
row 2 sc in each ch1 space, and ch1 over each sc

5  Re: anyone with patterns to knit flat? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by arabella on: February 03, 2007 12:16:42 AM
I was just where you are about a week ago, then I took a deep breath and picked up the circs... I love it!  I've already finished two hats!   here is a picture of my first one.  this was also my first time decreasing...  I made a whole hat on Monday!  (I was traveling, so I was knitting like crazy on the plane, then finished at night).  I seriously love love love working with circs.   maybe you could do something like this cowl scarf thing?  or this one?  (that way you could avoid dpns which are slightly fiddly.  but circs are fabulous!!!)

and here is a pic of my hat... only my 3rd (?) FO and my first circular knitting... believe me if I can do it, anyone can!  you can see it's not perfect...

yes!  I already started.  here's one ornament - a crocheted snowflake.  I want to do a bunch to use as present toppers, so I haven't stiffened it yet.

8  Re: Fill-a-Box Supply Swap: New Years Resolution Clean those Craft Closets in The Swap Gallery by arabella on: January 20, 2007 08:30:44 AM
I got a big supergenerous package from elphalba!!
look at all this stuff!!  lots of different things makes it perfect for my crafting ADD.  fabric, yarn, a pattern, stickers and papers, a book on using eyelets (how did you know I'd had those eyelets in the drawer for a couple of years?!) make purse kits, sculpey molds (I've been wanting to try sculpey!), and a super nice note!  there is a lot of stuff I haven't tried before so I will be in for some fun experimenting!  thank you elphalba!

9  Re: How do you store your needles and/or stash? (come post pics!!) in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by arabella on: October 22, 2006 04:33:46 PM
Sorry this picture is not of my yarn stash, but this was a picture I had on photobucket already.  so, the top drawer of the plastic three-drawer thing has all my needles (and crochet hooks, and embroidery supplies) all thrown pell-mell inside.  but because there is lots of space in there, they are easy to find.  and my yarn is stored identically to the fabric in this photo, in a hanging sweater thing, except its out of frame, on the left side of the closet.  the colored boxes on the bookshelf are for WIPs.

10  Re: Pimp My Switchplate Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by arabella on: April 17, 2006 09:06:06 PM
sorry for the late picture posting!   Last week I got this perfect "international travel" plate from shmee - who somehow divined that I love quotes and put one on my plate (and a quote that I love!).  I should say that this switchplate also came with the cutest card in the world ever, with the "the world/el mundo" loteria card on it!!  loved it!  after seeing the one I got, and all the ones in this gallery, I am feeling very insecure right now... shmee you should get yours soon and I hope you aren't disappointed.
