1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / GERMINATE! GERMINATE! GERMINATE! on: May 06, 2012 07:40:40 PM
It all started with a joke the boyfriend told me that I can't remember any more... something about Daleks yelling at plants to GERMINATE! But anyway... that's when I decided I needed a dalek planter to add to my houseplant shelf. Here's the final product!

It was actually pretty easy and I finished him (not including painting) in a day. He's made out of a big brick of white ploymer clay, sculpted around a terra cotta pot with a hole drilled in the bottom.

You can see the pot here. The bottom was glued on and painted after the clay was all cooked.

I had initially made the head like this:

But it broke in the oven! The good thing is that I liked it better after I pieced it back together and made some changes.

And here he is protecting all his plant friends!

Let me know what you think! I really liked working with polymer clay. This was my first try, so any tips would be awesome! Thanks for looking Smiley

Does anyone have an idea of what stitch this is here? I feel like this should be obvious but I can't figure it out!

I made this blanket for my boyfriend as a birthday present. His birthday was a week ago, but I actually gave it to him last year. It just took me that long to put up! Since he's 6'4, a lot of blankets don't actually fully cover him up, so I made him a gigantic cubs blanket. As a sox fan, this was VERY tough!

You can't really tell in the picture, but the red stripes at each end are each a couple rows where I alternated front-post double crochet and back-post double crochet. The intent was to make it look like baseball stitching, which it only does a little bit  Undecided He was really happy with it though so I'm happy!

My camera charger is hiding from me right now, so I just have a crappy cell phone picture. When I find it, I'll put up a better one. Thanks for looking!!
