1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / GERMINATE! GERMINATE! GERMINATE! on: May 06, 2012 07:40:40 PM
It all started with a joke the boyfriend told me that I can't remember any more... something about Daleks yelling at plants to GERMINATE! But anyway... that's when I decided I needed a dalek planter to add to my houseplant shelf. The inspiration is here http://www.redbubble.com/people/solentchris/works/6016133-ex-germinate-the-dalek-flower-pot

Here's the final product!

It was actually pretty easy and I finished him (not including painting) in a day. He's made out of a big brick of white ploymer clay, sculpted around a terra cotta pot with a hole drilled in the bottom.

You can see the pot here. The bottom was glued on and painted after the clay was all cooked.

I had initially made the head like this:

But it broke in the oven! The good thing is that I liked it better after I pieced it back together and made some changes.

New and improved head:

And here he is protecting all his plant friends!

Let me know what you think! I really liked working with polymer clay. This was my first try, so any tips would be awesome! Thanks for looking Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / any idea what stitch this is?? on: March 03, 2012 03:34:48 PM
Does anyone have an idea of what stitch this is here? I feel like this should be obvious but I can't figure it out!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cubs blanket on: May 15, 2011 05:32:46 PM
I made this blanket for my boyfriend as a birthday present. His birthday was a week ago, but I actually gave it to him last year. It just took me that long to put up! Since he's 6'4, a lot of blankets don't actually fully cover him up, so I made him a gigantic cubs blanket. As a sox fan, this was VERY tough!

You can't really tell in the picture, but the red stripes at each end are each a couple rows where I alternated front-post double crochet and back-post double crochet. The intent was to make it look like baseball stitching, which it only does a little bit  Undecided He was really happy with it though so I'm happy!

My camera charger is hiding from me right now, so I just have a crappy cell phone picture. When I find it, I'll put up a better one. Thanks for looking!!
