21  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Lothiel, Flower Daughter on: August 10, 2011 12:50:58 AM
My newest addition, Lothiel!
Lothiel is a Flower Daughter, born from flower seeds that contained a special mixture of majick and mischief. Flower Sprytes are not born very often, as it is so hard to get that combination of majick and mischief just right! But when it does happen, its a very special occasion indeed!
Flower Sprytes (And especially Flower Daughters, because Flower Sons always forget!) know the secret of growing the flowers that produce Flower Spryte Seeds, and so having a Flower Daughter in a Spryte Tribe is a very coveted thing indeed!
Lothiel has just started learning all about the flowers secrets (Flower Sprytes can talk to the Flowers of course) and absolutely loves nothing more than snuggling down in a flower bed and chatting the day away!
You know you have a Flower Spryte in your garden if your flowers are growing well! (Flowers love to be chatted to!)

I'm not particularly girlie, but absolutley loving making this little Spryte! I was unsure wether to give her any clothes on her top half, and in the end decided not too. What do you reckon?

All C+C appreciated !
Many thanks =)
22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Naughty Sprytes! on: August 03, 2011 01:45:57 PM

I haven't been able to post on here for ages, as for some reason I have been unable to upload photos! But it seems to have worked itsself out, and I have been wanting to share my little Sprytes with you and hear what you think =)

This is Morwenna, a Witch Spryte! I loved making all her little accessories, she has a wand, a herb vial, a hag stone, and a hare familiar. =) Forgot upload photos of those though..!!

This is Emelia ( In the forefront) A naughty little thing! And in the Background is Aranion, King of the Wild things. He is mine, and just recently has been reconstructed due to a dog attack =(

This is Beatrix the English Rose =) That cape took me ageees, but was so worth it! ( I think anyway! )

This is Muki Malik, who likes, as you may have guessed, to get verrrry mucky!!

And this is Fhaelita, who is loyal and caring, but with a fierce attitude =D

I love making these dolls so much, and seeing all their unique characters come through!!!
23  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Inspired vs Copied?? on: June 04, 2011 11:23:10 AM
I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place to post, but I make dolls, and couldn't find where else to put this, so please move me if i'm on the wrong place!
Basically, since September(ish) I have been making plush faerie dolls, and I started to sell them after people kept asking to buy them! They have been quite popular, (To my pleasant surprise!)
I am new in this 'business' and would just like some opinions of the difference between being inspired by, and being copied?
Recently, I had a message on my page, from a woman who made teddy bears. She now makes faery dolls. She also said that my spryte's were the inspiration for her faeries. I haven't said anything for a while, because I didn't want to be, I don't know how to phrase it; unfriendly?.. As her dolls weren't exactly the same, but incredibly akin.
She recently put up a sketch of the 'original' idea for her dolls, and even I, when my eyes flicked over them, thought someone had drawn pics of my dolls.

I basically want peoples opinions wether I am being to sensitive, or if its not just me who feels they are far to similar, seeing as she has previously said she only made her dolls after seeing mine, and has been commenting and 'liking' my dolls for a while.
I don't want to seem pathetic or unsupportive of other artists, and for that reason it has taken allot of courage to say anything at all, its just that the dolls are very special to me, I have finally found something i really love to do, and i feel sad that the idea has been 'stolen' away from me...

Here is a link to my page, and to hers:

http://www.facebook.com/britishwoodlandsprytes -Mine

I appreciate all comments and opinions, as I don't know the business side of this at all, and if I am just being 'sensitive' it would put my heart at rest greatly, as she seems like a lovely person, and I hate feeling like she is knowingly making dolls that are so similar...

Many thanks in advance-
24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Night Watcher on: April 04, 2011 11:47:07 PM

I just finished a new doll! I wanted to go with something a little different to what I usually do, so I chose black as  the main body colour.
He is called the night watcher. =)
Im still not sure if he needs anything more, as I did want to do more bodypaint, but can't actually think of how to go about it and actually execute it well!!
So please, let me know what you think!

25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Woodland Sprytes!!! on: March 29, 2011 01:55:52 AM
I started making dolls a little while ago, and I would love to hear your opinions!!

This is my newest one, Pandora. She is my most detailed one so far!!

Pandora is a recluse, living high up in the trees.
She is hard, sometimes mean, and always determined.
Pandora is a born hunter gatherer, so she needs only her own wit to get by. For things she cannot get herself, she trades the extra fur and food she gathers.
For example, her most prized possesion, her cloak, was a trade with a skilled Spryte in need of fur.

All comments/constructive critism is warmly welcomed, and thanks for looking!!
26  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Trinket Covered bed = Very burnt fingers!! on: May 04, 2009 12:47:35 PM
When I saw the button covered sofa entry for decorate with buttons, https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=299469.0 I immediatly scanned my room for something to cover!!
And seeing as my bed was the first thing i saw, i figured i'd go with it. So here it is!!!

I stuck all sorts on here, jewellery, shells, bottle tops, figurines, and of course, buttons.
There's still a couple of areas that need building up, they look a little bare!!

( sorry for the mess!!!)

Sorry about the blurry pics, im sure they fine when i took them!! Arg. I will try take some better ones!!!

A couple of bits have fallen off, so im working up the courage to get the glue gun out and stick them on again, as i am really good at burning myself!
Haha, I am planning to go up the posts, too. Its sooo addictive Cheesy
Thanks for looking!!!
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Fantasy Collection :D on: April 27, 2009 12:20:52 AM
So, for our last project at college we were allowed to do whatever we liked, so i set my brief as being recycled, and set in another world.
Most of the things are recycled, bar the sack cloth, and the canvas fabric for the trousers.
I made 4 outfits, based on 4 characters who lived in the world.

All together:

The Water Goddess, Tethys. This outfit was made from a new but modified bikini, and the fabric was new. I was going to use an old Bikini, but my tutor said it was unhygienic.

Child of the Wood. The dress was an old nightie, and the sleeves are form an old shirt, and the lace is from lace curtains Smiley. The leg warmers are from an old jumper.

The back of the Princess ( And the model for the Child of the wood didn't seem to take the 'nude underwear!!' Advise.  Cheesy The princess dress is made from an chiffon night top, and from scraps of fabric, the lace is one maaaasive lace curtains.

And the Villager. I cheated here, pretty much all of this outfit is new  Roll Eyes

I loved doing this project, very very much, it taught me alot, as lots of things worked, but more things didn't!!
I would LOVE your C+C!!!
Oooh! Theres lots more chatter and info about it on my blog if your interested Cheesy !!

29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Nightie to Naughty Faerie Dress :) on: March 22, 2009 03:25:28 PM
Yep, I was on a hippie Faerie binge. Heres another piece of faerie Clothing i made:

I dont think Lauren was quite ready for that photo!! haha

So, i took a nightie from a table top sale, ( I have no idea what these are called in America...If there called the same, please feel free to laugh!!)
And some sleeves from an old jumper/sweater, I turned the sleeves upside down and sewn button holes in them, with buttons on the straps of the dress, so you can remove them if its warm, and some pretty leaves a round the bust Smiley Not a major Recon, but enough!!
Another Photie:

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Random Table Runner(?) Into Faerie Skirt ! on: March 22, 2009 03:16:19 PM
So, I found this gorgeous fabric at a charity shop, I have no idea what it was, two, long thin strips?? I guessed it was a table runner?
Anywhoo, I I also found this pattern, and knew they were destined to be together Smiley
I mucked up matching the pattern a little i think, but in the end it kinda looked cute that way Smiley

Thanks to Lauren Smiley

As always, C+C are loved very muuuch!
