2131  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Gnome on a stick! on: November 10, 2010 07:18:31 AM
I would say the gnome is about 2 1/2 - 3" tall.  Smiley (And thanks both of you for the compliments!)

This little guy and his trusty toadstool are a couple of other creations from the Christmas stocking swap.  Also based on my awesome partner's wist, they are tiny little guardians to stick in a plant pot.  Smiley

2135  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: SWEEEEET! Sugar Skull Pin Cushion on: November 09, 2010 07:20:46 AM
Thanks you guys - and no - not air dry clay - it's polymer.  When I baked it the foam kind of melted (originally I didn't realize it was a foam skull-it was covered in papermache type stuff ) - so when it came out of the oven I pulled all the foam out and formed a pin cushion to fit inside the hole with a bit of glue around the edges to keep it in. Smiley

Thanks everyone - sweetyetevil was an inspiration to swap with - she just had tons of great ideas that fortunately I could work with. (Now if I'd gotten a partner who wanted knitting and needlepoint I woulda been in big trouble.)  Wink
2137  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / SWEEEEET! Sugar Skull Pin Cushion on: November 08, 2010 06:51:23 PM
Hi all - I did this as a part of a super fun stocking swap - based on a pin cushion from my partner's wist - I molded the clay around a foam skull leaving a hole for the actual pin cushion. Painting it was the fun part - and a special nod to the coolest website on the net!!!   Wink

Haha!  The picture of Hallo with his painting is too cute (and see - right profile - haha!)  Painting that pin cushion was the EASY part - molding it and not have it split in half when I baked it was a whole other story! So glad you liked it all (and I swear I didn't take a drive to Michigan to look through your window!)  Wink
