121  I'm in love with Mail Sacks! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by thisbirdsabsurd on: July 18, 2010 09:22:22 AM
I've made a few of these and really love how they turn out...perhaps it has something to do with my addiction to big roomy bags that I can put tons of stuff into - I made this one for the FOC swap and I was LOVING the fabric - maybe my favorite so far. Here is my daughter modeling for me.  Wink

and some close ups - pockets on the inside - ones a double & one's a zipper

I might have to go get some more of this fabric and make one for myself!  LOL!

122  Re: Teesha Moore Type Journal.. anyone want to play?? in Needlework: Stitchalongs by thisbirdsabsurd on: July 17, 2010 10:57:55 PM
Hooray!  I finished mine today - and immediately gave it to my mom for her 84th birthday!   Cheesy  As quirky and lopsided as it turned out I really fell in love with it - I know I'll be doing more! You can't really see the spine in the pics - but it does have a narrow one to accomodate the width of the book. (PS - I posted about the ladder stitch - not sure if you saw - but its a pretty invisable way of joining the squares - I used 2 strands of embroidery floss for strength....) Okay - first the cover

then the back

and finally the inside - she can put abother book or even a paperback in when she's done with this one!

Pirate - what a great package - you outdid yourself!

I also received from edenkitty yesterday and this is what was in my box!
First this great bag made from recycled shirts and a belt!  CUTE!

Next a key fob and a necklace with some sweet little birds etched into them - (hope they show up in the pics.

And finally my favorite - a pair of handwarmers...can you see the owls?  I can't wait to wear them when the weather cools off!

Thanks so much edenkitty!!   Cheesy

I made this beaver pillow for edenkitty in the Woodland Creature swap - and SHE named her Winona! Cheesy  EK is from the Pacific north west so I knew I wanted to do a beaver, just took me a while to figure out how the heck to go about it!  LOL!  Here she is, enjoying her new home - and a quick look at her lovely beaver tail.  Wink

126  Boris the Tattooed StrongMan! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by thisbirdsabsurd on: June 18, 2010 07:32:01 AM
I sent this out a few weeks ago for the Be Awesome Swap.  He is inspired by Mimi Kirschner's tattooed dolls.  I drew up a pattern, dyed the toile and embroidered the face-he's about 18" tall, give or take.  Who doesn't need a big handsome man around the house.  Wink

OKAY!!  Time to liven up this joint!  Wink  I received from Rackycoo today and I have to tell you I was out in the driveway when the mailman walked up with my package and I sat right down in the grass and opened it up!  First off there was an awesome little card made by non other than Phizzychick, then from within layers of bubblewrap and tissue paper the true awesomeness was revealed.  So, without further ado, Rackycoo's awesome creation!

this is from my wists by the way and she did a spot on job!  Even more amazing is that she gathered all the bits and pieces from other amazing craftsters!!!  How awesome is that??
Here is a close up of the shoes - now famous due to Racky's dabbling with a band saw!  Wink

And finally a couple of close ups so you can appreciate the details.  Coolness!

Thanks a million Rackycoo - this is super special and will have a prominent place in my home! Cheesy

128  Re: Dotees - Mini Art Dolls - Round 9 Send Out 4/19/10 in The Swap Gallery by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 26, 2010 04:07:50 PM
here we go - my dotee from MadGypsy!  I have to say - it freaked me out a little when I slid it out of the envelope - the weight and the texture gave it the feel of "the real thing"!  HAHA! I'm thinking his whole body is made of sculpy, then covered in feathers.  He has a stern look on his face so I have nick named him "the blue bird of seriousness".  Wink  Thanks Gypsy - great addition to my growing collection!

130  Re: Coraline Rd 3 Swap Gallery! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by thisbirdsabsurd on: April 19, 2010 03:51:08 PM
Okay you guys - I had an awesome swap partner - never in a million years would I have guessed that this was her first time!  Check out my awesome package!
First of all, please excuse the extranious debris on my art table - I was too excited to clean it all up before I took the pics - haha!  To start I got two great boxes, the large keyhole box will be perfect for some of that stuff you can see I need to clear off my table - and the tiny Forcible button box had my seeing stone inside - I told Monsters it will be perfect for finding the things that I lose track of on a daily basis - lol!

Next we have some fabulous button trimmed hand warmers for "those cold nights in the other world" - very cool

Next we have the prettiest headband - its design is based on the picture of Coraline climbing through the tunnel to the other world - how creative!  My daughter is slightly irrate that I won't GIVE it to her - but I promised she could borrow it.  Wink

Now check out this squid - I love love love him!!

And....the whole package - I was really impressed - there wasn't a thing that I didn't love - great job Monsters! Thanks for being a perfect swap partner!!! Cheesy
