11  Re: Crazy for Christmas! Gallery in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: September 03, 2010 09:23:33 PM
I received from my angel.  Thank you so much, Spotnik.  She gave me a ton of different sized yellow ribbons with various colors of green buttons to represent my husband's Army service for our Christmas tree.  And a verrrrrry long crocheted green & yellow chain for it.  Plus a gorgeous tea towel and dish scrubber in traditional Christmas colors.  Thanks again, dear angel!!

My original partner received from me a snow globe of Rudolph & Clarice, magnetic doves holding a banner that said Merry Christmas, a whale ornament, and a glittery Rudolph for her mantleplace.  Unfortunately, I did not take photos...again.  I've got to learn my lesson!!!

12  Re: Secret Santa in July Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: July 21, 2010 10:19:58 AM
Oh I'm so sad, but I don't the best item to photograph.  How could that be?  Because I'm a cheat and I opened it earlier!  Now let me explain the circumstances.  My husband's on a plane to boot camp right now and I threw a big going away party for him on Saturday, so on Friday I thought I'd just peek in case I thought it'd be something good to give him then.  It wasn't anything he can't live without for a few months, but it was something I actually direly needed that night!  It's a beautiful light blue pillow with gorgeous embroidery of two lovebirds, and it just happened that I was on my way to a wedding where my son was the ring bearer and they had no pillow for him.  So I totally cheated and had him use it and it got multiple compliments, and then I left it behind and the bride took it and she's on honeymoon.  So I'll take photos of that in a bit, and you can all boo me for cheating on 25% of my packages.  Now for the rest!

First, another little pillow with the family name.  This embroidery is so gorgeous!  I love it a lot.

Second, some fun fireworky earrings in my favorite color.  I can't wear them till the baby stops trying to rip my ears out, but I really like them.

And my bought item was a super fun magic marker/crayon book for my 3 1/2 year-old who's in love with Toy Story.
Thanks so much, SarahlaAnne!

Oh my, you two were really spoiled!  I didn't do any spoilage, but I still hope you like the stuff, yardenxanthe!  I got my package today and I just have to get my 3 year-old to sit still before I take & post photos.  I'm so excited about it!!
Photo time!
Here's my bountiful package.  First, matching Chewie bandoliers for me and my son (although my eager husband is modeling).  Mine was recrafted from a leather skirt, and my son's from a suede shirt (just the sleeve!).  Then a couple really fun smalls - a Chewie pencil topper and an extraordinarily detailed crocheted Chewbacca.  This darn picture does it no justice.  Then all my tin boxes were filled with extras instead of worthless ammo!  I got a green bracelet, some red & robin's egg blue rick-rack, some scrapbooking thingies, and lovely earrings.  Thank you soooo much!!  I love it all.

Here's my fantastic swap package.  My son is soooo in love with his presents.  First, Bobomom had everything wrapped so we had the thrill of opening them.  My 3 year-old opened a "Hal O'Queen" pillow and a "Buzz Liger Lego" shirt, both of which have been with him for the 18 or so hours since.  Then he helped his baby brother open a Mike Wazowski plush toy and Toy Story alien Lego shirt.  The shirts are soooo darling and I love that they match.  My husband and I both got Mickey shirts that were bleached out to reveal his silhouette.  They are awesome!  And we can all share a reversible bag, camo Mickey for the boys, and retro Disney for me.  Unbelievable.  Thank you soooo much!!!
(he had to set the scene for the photo, so Lightning McQueen is a little covered up)

I made my second claim for fluttermuffin today and I've already got one of the two crafts all planned out.  And this afternoon I received my second birthday gift.  Yay!!  Two days in a row!

I received from Sherrie B. two fantastic hats for my older son (although the younger one might fit them soon too).  The first is a camo print bucket, and the second is a red white & blue beanie (my husband's joining the Army, hence the colors).  I wasn't allowed to take photos of him today, apparently, because every time I got out the camera he'd pull the hat off.  (I guess it's not just when he's cooking that I'm banned from the photos!)  She also gave me the extra camo yarn if I want to crochet something another time.  And something really really cool - a craft kit to make a fluffy white bunny, complete with yarn, crochet hook, nose, & eyes.  I'm really excited to do that (although you can't tell it by the photo since I hadn't unwrapped that yet).  Also for me is a little headbandy scarf, which I love.  And then if that wasn't enough she bought me two fun ice trays and some walnut soap.  Fantastic!
I've been sooo spoiled by my two givers.  Thanks!!

Well I got my package last night, and it was so nice to be able to share it with my son.  He loves presents as much as I do.
Here is a bunch of great findings & beads for when I make jewelry, a darling retro onesie for my baby (of Dick, Jane, and Sally playing with an umbrella), some fun gel pens for me, an assortment of gummy candies (I love Haribo!!), and a precious schoolchildren apron for my 3-year-old that came in a little drawstring Dick & Jane bag.

I didn't get a picture of him wearing it, though, because when he put it on and I got out the camera he said, "Don't take a photo - I'm cooking!"  It fits him perfectly, and he's obsessed with school right now, so he loves the pictures.
Thanks so much, Sajona!!

17  Re: Luck of the Irish Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: March 08, 2010 10:09:59 AM
I came home the other day from running an errand, to find my baby son all dressed up in his Irish get-up, courtesy of Daddy.  So to give both boys equal face time, here's Frankie:

Ignore the broken sword - if he doesn't have something in his hands, then they are always jammed in his mouth!

Well I was certainly outcrafted by my partner!!  She gave me sooo much.  I first got a welcome sign for above our door (with the apostrophe in the right place - hurrah!).  Then she made me some fun Celtic knot and Irish flag color bobby pins.  She made two boo-boo bunnies for my boys - both in green with green reusable ice cubes.  And she made the older one a shamrock t-shirt, and the baby a "A Wee Bit Irish" shirt with a shamrock on his butt...so cute!  Finally she bought fun shamrock socks for me and my older boy, a little clover pot (I really love clovers so I'm very excited to start growing them), and silly head boppers with shamrocks on them.  Thanks sooo much!!!!!  And I hadn't had an opportunity to make a surprise ball for another craft yet, so I was very excited when I found the clover streamers.  I hope you two had fun with that.

Here's my fun shirt.  The actual shirt is far more subtle, but the flash reflected the paint/transfer to give you all better detail.  I said I liked the 2 part Maleficent (both fairy and dragon) so in the front, it's the fairy Maleficent, and in the back, it's the dragon.  Fun!  It fits me well, too.  Thanks!!

20  Re: Sweet and Easy Valentine's Day Swap GALLERY, SEND OUT 2/06/2010 in The Swap Gallery by nikimac on: January 29, 2010 10:58:24 PM
Curious Coffee sent me an amazing package.  First, a darling file card coffee valentine (with pens for that and the crafted item).

Second, my favorite cookies!  And I didn't even tell her they were my favorites!  My husband and brother-in-law and father-in-law and son love them too.  Here's my son and brother-in-law.

And finally, a fabulous book for my husband.  He's joining the Army and I'm going to throw a big going-away party.  I sent my partner photos and tidbits about us, and she turned it into the most professional looking scrap/guest book/journal ever.  I'm blown away by it.  It's going to be very hard to wait to give it to him, but his brother looked it over and agrees that it's perfect.

Thank you!!
