8281  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: How about a low stress, frequent fiber swap? (just fiber & a small item) on: July 19, 2009 02:54:11 PM
For me sign ups from august 20-27th is perfect.  I'm heading to Vancouver on Sept 1 and stopping at Birkeland Bros.   I could pick up some more sweet fiber.    But thats just me Smiley

Belladune was right........the thread needs to be held straight while the spun yarn is held at a slight angle.

actually I was just about tension... it was feverdream who was about the angles Smiley

Thanks for the well wishes. All is fine. I just had to get something to calm my stomach down. Gastritis = no fun! I've been staring at fiber for days without being able to mess with it. So I have to get my energy level back up for spinning!!

Ugh sounds like no fun SML!  and I feel you about the energy levels.. so glad I' m out of my first trimester...  I might start getting some energy back myself finally, so that I can deal with 8lbs  (  Shocked ) of fiber i have sitting in my closet.

ETA:
What kind of thread do yo use for spinning boucle yarn?

All I use for my boucle is cotton sewing thread to match (or contrast, depending on the look I want.)  it's all i've got and no good supply stores of any kind close enough to make a trip when I'm feeling like boucle.

trial and error.  LOL  that's how I figured it out.   But if my brain will remember what my hands were doing well enough to put it in words........................    Hold the thread a little bit tighter then the yarn.  oh and its gotta be yarn before you stick the thread in, or really well predrafted pencil roving(I've yet to succeed while doing it that way.I mostly assume it can be done like that, I'm no expert.)  I do mine like that with yarn.   It takes a few tries but you'll get it Smiley
