Those are all so pretty and yummy looking! That first one totally matches the dye job in my hair, too Cheesy I kinda want to squish them all to my face because they look so nice.
Your hair is obviously awesome then!

thanks all!

Hopefully I can keep up with the posting... I have like 10 yarns I haven't even taken pictures of.  I should manage, right?
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Silk Paper on: August 21, 2017 07:21:23 PM
Thanks everyone!!

This must be how you made the paper you sent me in a swap. I absolutely love it, it's so incredibly flat and thin. Paper thin in fact!

Yes! It is!

So pretty! What is the texture like when it is done? I wonder what it would be like stitch on.

It's stiff, but flexible, kinda like paper... I've been thinking of stitching on it too... Especially the piece with the trees.  I'd imagine you'd have to be quite confident, as every hole you'd make is there, and won't go away!

itty bitty kitties are my favourite kind. I kind of hate that they grow up.. lol (I love my cats, don't get me wrong, but if they could be kittens for ever.... )

Remember when we used to do Fibre Fridays?  And there were pages and pages of wonderful fibre posts?  That was fun! so why not?
I don't know if I've shared these ones before... but a lot of my yarns got glamour shots lately, so I'll share them!
This one is a merino singles. I dyed the fibre in top form and spun straight from that.

This is a merino 3 ply, that I hand carded the blend for

I cannot remember the blend of this one... but it's got corriedale in it - the magenta.  I also hand carded the rolls for this one

This one is Merino bamboo 80/20, with bits of sari silk for colour. I dyed the wool, and then put it through the drum carder.

Happy Fibre Friday!

So I started adventuring into paper making.. Though, this paper making is quite different than traditional paper making.
the general idea is quite similar to felt making in that you lay the silk out as you would lay out wool to felt it.  There is, however, no agitation. Instead you sponge soak the silk (between two screens) with soapy water, and then do another round of sponge soaking it with water thinned textile medium.  Hang to dry, and don't be impatient.
