as promised, pics!!!

the "everything"  top to bottom:  fiber prep blanket, yarn A (hackle blended and plied with comercial yarn), yarn B (BFL plied with thread),  dyed with wiltons BFL,  Border leicester locks, and oriface hooks XD

and thumbnails of the close ups as to not bog your computers down with phat pics Smiley

the locks:  cannot wait to play with these!

the BFL:  this one makes me hope this baby is a girl.  I see an adorable toque in this.

yummy yarn B. so squishy. love the color!

delish yarn A.  this is going to be a scarf. likely crocheted.

close up of fabric of the fiber prep blanket and the gorgeous oriface hooks.  So glad there are 3 I'm always misplacing my hooks LOL

412  Chocolate coverd strawberry cake in Dessert by Belladune on: July 16, 2009 07:19:47 AM
So I found a recipe for strawberry cake  (here:  http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-4783-scratch-moist-strawberry-cake.html )  and was determined to actually use it.  I can't make a cake for fun, but I can make a cake for a reason. So when one of my recruits (I sell usborne books, its like tupperware, only kids books;) ) made it to the executive council and dragged me along with her I felt she deseerved a cake.

So I call it chocolate covered strawberry cake.  It is chocolate marshmellow fondant, covering the strawberry cake.  To make the MMF chocolate I just added cocoa powder.  in a full recipe of fondant I'd say it would be about 1cup of cocoa. (I just wung it, since I'd made the recipe before and knew the texture I was going for.)

You can probably see the "quilting" effect on the top, I did that with a fork, because I don't have any real cake decorating tools.  but what youcan't really see is that I rolled it out on cheese cloth, to make it look like fabric.

This is a pic of my attempt at making it look like knitting for the band at the bottom.  didn't really work out well.

And a close up of my terrible pipping skills.  color is off in this one.  I really need to learn how to take pictures of my cakes...

413  spikey cat collar- crochet! mildly pic chubby. in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by Belladune on: July 12, 2009 08:36:46 AM
So I was thinking our new kitty needed a collar, and with no hope of going to a place I could find a killer collar, I decided to make one!
He's so cute and innocent looking, but under that cute bi-eyed exterior, he is a little hell raiser!  So spikey collar it is!

sorry some are sidways... my coffee needs to be stronger.. I thought they were up right...

I have a habit of not wearing two of the same socks, not because I can't find the matching ones, but because who said socks had to match?  So I'm most definitly digging the feather and the bead!!

Thank you so much, Persephone!!!  I can't wait until you recieve from me......  and I can't believe I recieved before you did!

CamOovas, I'll go card something so I can do that for you Smiley

okay there we go.  on the left is a rolled rolag (or cigar as I've seen it called)  On the right is straight off the hand cards.   the fiber is going in the same direction on both.

i may not be the best carder, but hey. I try Wink

first up Mermaids Tail.  75yrd 4oz.... that thick! So delicious, I served it for supper!   LOL j/k It was a swap item, and scotskipper loved it!  What you can't see in these pictures is the teal and gold sparkle that runs through it!

and thats all I can share this week, cause the hubby is playing WoW and I can't upload pictures, cause he lags out and wipes his party.  So, perhaps I'll beable to share more next week!

I received an AMAZING package from titaniumhip
I literally squealed when I opened it!  I was thoroughly spoiled.  Oz lovers, prepare to wists.  And Whimsy lovers, prepare to do the same!!

First off the Jar itself. Its gorgeous!

The "Everything"shot

The crafted whimsies.  LOVE the necklace,  and adore the dorothy x-stitch.

close ups of some of the other wonders that were in my jar

And lastly the crazy amazing extras!!!  a flying sock monkey, and a killer pillow with my favorite (even if cliche) line from the movie 'The Wizard Of Oz'

Thanks Cyndi!  It all feels very smooth, like a roving would.  There's still a lot of VM in it.  But that wont be hard to deal with while I'm carding anyway.  If I scour a bit of it, I should see the lanolin in the water then I would know for sure right?
Is it friday yet?  I'm sooo wanting to get working with this wool, but I want to know my partners color preferences before I start dyeing!

In total there is 6lbs 3oz of different fiber there.  There's a bag of merino hiding behind the bag of Shetland 'sliver' too.

And apron on me, with my head cropped off, because I look terrible from the neck up today. LOL  (also reason for the chairs on the table: to keep my 1 yr old off the table LOL)
