okay, so that's what a top view of it looks like, right?  see the right most portion, where the shaft (that's my technical term) of the flyer comes out the bobbin and onto the holder upper thingy?  you should beable to just lift the shaft directly up.  It'll feel stiff, like it doesn't want to let go, but it will.

402  from pink to bubbles :D in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Belladune on: September 27, 2009 11:09:11 AM
So our bathroom was pink.... pink walls, pink curtains... very pink. now don't get me wrong I like pink, but not in my bathroom, not in that quantity anyway.

Here's the result of a couple cans of paint:

sorry, this ones dark... but it give a fuller view of the bubbles.
Here's a

before/during in which you can still see the pink:

this is as finished as the bathroom will get for a while.  I just really couldn't stand the pink bathroom... next redo we will have the tub and toilet moved, and a new vanity and new floors... Good thing my hubbys a plumber.... Cheesy  But for now a couple cans of paint will do.  And belive you me, there will be bubbles in the next re-do too!

k sleeping beauty drum carder, made in New Zealand
Don't know many specifics and the lady selling doesn't seem to know much about it, but she did send me a pic.  here it is:

Doesn't look to me like a very fine cloth, but I've never seen a carder up close and personal.  But the finer the cloth the more I'll beable to do with it, right?  She wants 300$ for it, but I'd dicker with her, so hopefully I could manage to get it for that much including shipping or perhaps less....
whatcha think?

So here it is in all its fibery goodness. 2 pots of dye (red and yellow for the big international day of felt)  Glaubers salt, Orvus paste(both of which are supposed to get me more even results, which will be wonderful!)  Tussah silk-2oz from the silk weaving place on granville, and about 5 oz (50grams each) of assorted colored merino wool from Shoppel Wolle on granvile island.  Yum Smiley

Great yarns everyone!!
lechaton, great first yarn!
Jazzturtle, great yarns, as usual.  now that I know yarn can be sucessfully spun onto wire I'm actually going to give it a go....
Goldfish girl, those are great. love the orange blue red... It looks like it may make a really fun toque!
Lado, that dog hair yarn is great!

okay as promised in the random spinny babble thread: the yarn I made from the roving Oddacity sent!!!
Before it was plied: (okay that was about 1/2 way through the plying process)

After it was plied:  250yrds BFL/Coridale (one sigle of each) approx. 4oz.

And this is Shadow priest all spun up:

I may get a chance later today to add a pic of what a shadow priest looks like, So those of you that don't play world of warcraft can see where my inspiration came from Smiley

here's the pic of inspiration for the shadow priest yarn Smiley

maybe not the best pic, but it shows where ther blue comes from ( the spell I'm shooting out called mind flay)  And I didn't have time to get out my shadow fiend, but thats where the black comes from. So the sequence in the yarn goes shadow form (the purples) then mindflay, then shadowfiend, mindflay, shadow form Smiley

408  A cake I made for a Cancer fundraiser in Dessert by Belladune on: August 09, 2009 10:04:10 AM
So.  When I found out there was a desert auction to be held at the Concert For Cancer here in town, I knew I wanted to make something.  I've been volunteering at a camp for kids with cancer for 7 years,  This is a cause close to my heart.  3 weeks ago I found out a boy in town my sons age was diagnosed with cancer.  This made the desire all the more strong.  4 years olds should not get cancer.... mind you no one should...  But the funds raised are going to the family.  Anyway.  I made my delicious Chocolate covered strawberry cake.  It fetched a whopping 450$!!!!!!   Shocked   It wasn't the most expensive one, but it was by no means the least expensive!!  In total our little town of 300 odd people managed to raise over 14,000$!!!!!!!!  And I was glad to be a part of it!

Well, now that you've read all that, I guess you want to see pictures of the cake that made 450$      Wink

The more or less straight on shot Smiley

This is what the inside looks like.  Under that pile of strawberries is a generous layer of choclate ganache!

Close up of my very first attempt at a bow Smiley  turned out pretty darn good Smiley!

and one more for fun!

Thanks for having a look!

Well, here she is!  the original Belladune, a gnomish Warlock from World of Warcraft, in all her poppet gloriousness!

She was hanging out in the kitchen when the kitten happened upon her.

he got to close, so she cast fear on his poor little behind.......  Cheesy

Then she discovered Sugar (the cat) in the living room.  i'm not really sure what that look means... mind you Sugar was sleeping....

And here is the rest of my goodies!
dreamcatcher keychain

Beatles fabric Smiley  I love the Beatles...

and the fluff saved from Belladunes hair, when it was combed out.  I'm definitly spinning this into some yarn!

Well, thats it!  I love it all!!!  thank you so much LOVESCLUTTER!!!

What a wonderful start to the day!!  I can't really picka fav.  those are all wonderful and I one day hope to beable to 'free my mind' and spin like that, Zucchero_Filato.  What wonderful yarns!

SpecialKRJ, we all have to spin something, and I admire your braveness for spinning pill bottle cotton.  it's a cute little ball of yarn!

now onto me Wink I finally have had the energy to do anything fiber wise Smiley!!  yay second trimester!
No yarns just loads of dyed and one blended roving Smiley Shall be spinning this week!  or maybe more dyeing.. since I have pounds of white wool floating about...

Le piece de resistance!  My first in a series of World of Warcraft inspired yarns.  Of course I have to blend and or dye in order to get what I want, so here it is.  Shadow priest. haven't weighed it yet, but my guess is about 2 oz?

One huge stack of dyed roving, so much for solid colors lol.  I like em anyway Smiley  all but the blue are 1oz.  I have 5 oz of the blue, but only pictured 2.5oz

thumbnails of the individuals as not to bog down your computer:)

happy fiber friday, and happy spinning to you all!
