11  If only this were real... in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: March 18, 2010 11:39:58 AM
A few weeks ago I spotted a kid's drawing on the bulletin board of my favorite Irish pub.  The second I saw it I knew that it had to be stitched.

I whipped this up as a little gift for my favorite Publicans on St. Patrick's Day.

I used an old sheet that had long ago been cut into 13in. squares for embroidery.  I stitched it up with DMC floss, 3 strands for the top line of writing and 6 strands for everything else.  I used my trusty ol' crayolas to tint it and I glued the whole thing into a 12 inch wooden embroidery hoop.

17  Do you believe? in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by mafiosagrrl on: October 18, 2009 11:34:39 PM
I made this stuffie for a friend's little girl, obsessed with anything fairy or princess.  I felt like an idiot when I realized I put the opening on the top, won't do that next time! But I figured, oh well, a three year old isn't going to complain. Don't be frightened by the scary fairy statue.  That's something my boyfriend thrifted a long time ago, whoever painted it had issues  Tongue

18  A wise man once said... in Needlework: Completed Projects by mafiosagrrl on: October 18, 2009 09:42:06 PM
I'm big on quotes.  I'm always spouting 'em off and I carry a notebook because I'm always writing 'em down.
I knew right away that I wanted to participate in this challenge (it's my first one here on good ol' Craftster) however, I had a hard time picking what stitch.  I didn't want to do something too personal as I don't keep much of what I stitch, and I wanted to be able to give it to someone.  Although, I truly respect and thank those of you who did expose a personal side in this challenge, that takes a lot.
I decided on this quote because Martin Luther King, Jr was such a wise leader, focused on achieving his goals without resorting to violence.   And preventing domestic violence is about so much more than domestic violence.  It's about teaching love and respect.  Simple concept that is universally understood but not easily achieved.  Violence begets more violence, and carries over into areas outside of the home.  Violence needs to be stopped on all of these level.

And so now I will step down off of my soap box and let you see some pictures.

Hopefully, it's not too late to enter.  It's nearly 10 here in CA, however when I uploaded my photos to craftster they say 10/19 now, hmmm.

I used so much on this one.  Watercolors, pastels, ink.  The pastel made the trim a little dingy, but I think it fits this one.  Think old, lol.

We came up with this silly little saying after hours of Wii bowling!

80's goodness!

I really like the beading on this one.  I think I'll try this again.  The rice paper is a little goody I received in a trade.  So pretty!

man, I've been using this lace like crazy.  I think I need to move on  Cheesy

Since I've joined in the ATC fun I've posted on here a few times.  So I've decided I'll just keep em all in one place from now on.  Hopefully, I'll show some improvements in my new found paper craft skills as time goes by   Grin
Since last time:

Thanks for looking.  Questions, comments, and rude remarks are always welcome!  Wink
