21  Photo Fogginess in Get Product and Website Opinions by sdanorth on: June 10, 2009 08:03:12 PM
Hi guys!
On my site I work really hard to make sure that the colors of the shells in the pictures are as close to reality as I can get them. Problem is, some of them look... murky. In this pic, the shell color is almost dead on, but I'm just not happy with how the pic looks. Different background color, maybe? Perhaps I should try it against black. Any thoughts?

22  Outdoors/Waxed Cord Question in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by sdanorth on: June 05, 2009 12:15:39 PM
I sell most of my pendants on waxed cotton cord. I'm gearing up for my first craft fair, which will be outdoors. It should be around 90 degrees. Attached is a pic of my packaging - this is how I package it after the piece is done and I've taken the pic for the website - in the baggie keeps them from tarnishing. The real question is, outside, in the heat, is the wax from the cord (which is coiled up behind the tag in the bag) going to melt and make a mess of everything? Has anyone had experience with waxed cord + sunshine and heat?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

23  Beachy Shell Love in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: June 02, 2009 01:43:37 PM
I made a few new things today, that I love! After suffering creative paralyzation due to a weird overthinking-it phase, I've come back to my senses. Simpler is better for me. I'd love to hear what you guys think!

Black & grey shell bracelet with jasper (?) beads

Wire wrap shell fragment pendant

Super happy fun shell party bracelet!

Thanks for looking!

24  Re: seashell jewelry in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by sdanorth on: May 29, 2009 05:22:23 PM
I know what you mean about not finding seashell jewelry... I had the same problem. I wanted to know how my pieces compared to what other people were doing, but couldn't find other people! Anyway, take a look at my site - the link is at the bottom of this window there... you can see the types of things I've done with the seashells. If you have any questions about them, I'll be happy to share, but it's all pretty straightforward. It's all about the shells. Here's my current favorite:

The shell pieces are purple & white, but I have a tough time with purpley colors with my camera.
Hope this helps!

P.S. Look in your local library for a book called Shell Chic by Marlene Hurley Marshall. It's totally awesome!

25  Re: crochet metal bracelet! funky in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sdanorth on: May 27, 2009 07:49:31 PM
This is K hook with 24 gauge wire. (If I can get the pic to work) But I can't put it up for sale, the wire I used is magnetic, so the dingle doesn't dangle properly - it sticks to the clasp! LOL! Live and learn!

26  Photo Color Problem in Get Product and Website Opinions by sdanorth on: May 09, 2009 07:33:06 PM
Hi all,
I'm having trouble capturing a particular color on an item with my digital camera. The shell is purple and yellow, but I can't get it. I've tried multiple color backgrounds, flash, no flash, indoors, outdoors, macro, standard... every combination of variables I can think of. Is there something I'm missing? No matter what I do it looks brown. Help!
