Details of Swap:

Have you ever found yourself watching a movie or tv show, playing a video game, reading a book or comic, or listening to a concept album that features an evil company and thought “It would be so fun to work there!” or “This place doesn’t sound that evil to me. I’d work there.” or even “Muahahahahaha! I LOVE EEEEEEVIL!!!!!”? Then this swap is for you!

Participants list three companies they’d love to work for and get paired with a compatible “coworker”. You can choose a company from a preexisting work, but you also have the option of creating your own company. You and your coworker will make each other crafts based on their preferred companies. Things like plushies of characters that work for the company are okay, but it’s better to concentrate on items that simulate actually working there. Things like ID cards, company coffee cups, T-shirts with the company slogan on them, uniforms, rank or insignia patches, inspirational propoganda posters, performance reviews from their boss, flyers for the company picnic, a safety first sign with the number of days since the company's last industrial accident, a dashboard pass for the best corporate parking spaces, keychains with the company logo, an employee cafeteria menu, a badge for access to the most top secret rooms, a notebook with the corporate logo, employee development plans, stock certificates, lapel pins, business cards and anything else that makes your partner feel like they actually work there! You can give crafts based on multiple companies (could you imagine the epic evil mergers?) or just concentrate on one.

This swap is a four point swap, so you can send your partner a large and a small item, two medium items, a medium and two small items, or four small items to your partner.

22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Tales of Beedle the Bard Plush Charms on: January 30, 2011 02:48:45 PM
For the Decked out for Deathly Hallows Swap I made my partner a set of charms based on Beedle the Bard's stories:

Babbitty Rabbitty from Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump. (this one is my favorite, sadly the picture is a bit blurry)

The fountain from The Fountain of Fair Fortune.

The hairy heart from The Warlock’s Hairy Heart. (probably my least favorite, I couldn’t get it to look hairy as much as spotted)

The slipper and note from the Wizard and the Hopping Pot.

The three hallows from The Tale of Three Brothers.
23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Moaning Myrtle Totebag on: January 30, 2011 02:41:18 PM
I made this for my swap partner in the Decked out for Deathly Hallows swap using this free and easy tote bag pattern: http://mamaspocketbook.com/freebies.htm

I tried to make the Myrtle print with the stencil but after that failed (note to self: don't make really intricate stencils without knowing anything about making stencils) I just hand painted it in.

I then beaded around it to form a sort of ghostly aura affect. Every line was an inch apart and each line had one less bead in each grouping of beads so that the first had nine beads in each clump, the second had eight and the last one only had one.

I also lined it in a very Slytherine-ish fabric and added a pocket inside.

If there’s enough interest I plan on organizing as soon as I qualify to, but I have no problem if anyone else would like to organize or co-organize.

I will be organizing this swap, which will begin near the end of February. Everyone who posts on this thread will get a reminder PM when it starts! If anyone wants to co-organize, just say so.
25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Modern Cartoons Swap? on: November 24, 2010 11:20:28 AM

Weve had 90s cartoon swaps, how about a swap for more modern cartoons? Shows like Flapjack, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Ben 10, Chowder, Star Wars: Clone Wars, the Total Drama series, Symbiotic Titians, Generator Rex, Batman: Brave and the Bold, Johnny Test, Camp Lazlo, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and The Mighty B that either began in the 2000s or began in the 90s and are still running.  Id imagine youd pick at least 3 shows you like (but more is better) and youd be paired with someone else who likes the same shows. Then youd craft accordingly. I cant organize this, but Id love to see it happen.
26  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Luna jugglegood Plushie pic voluptuous WITH TUTORIAL! on: November 13, 2010 06:28:10 AM

~TUTORIAL~
This tutorial covers the body of the doll. If anyone wants a pattern/tutorial for one of the pieces of clothing Ill try to post it. Heres the pattern:
http://goofypic.com/r/a2uff6/7
The front hair piece is not included because I improvised it.
1. Cut out pattern pieces. The pattern doesnt include seam allowance, but when cutting mine I used a highly scientific method commonly known as eyeballing it to determine allowance, so I cant specify how much to add. For the parts you need to appliqu, especially the front of the bra, add extra allowance. This is also the time to alter the pattern by changing hair style, ear shape, shoe type, sock length ect.
2. Appliqu and embroider all of the pieces that need detailing. This includes attaching the F head to the F body (using the brown line to guide for placement), adding the facial features, shoe straps and buckles, underwear, belly button, straps of the bra, bra clasp, bow on the underwear, and sock decorations. You can add or subtract as many details as you want. Try to make sure the bra straps and underwear line up!
3. Sew the shoes to the socks (B to B, F to F) then sew one side of the socks to the other (B to F, on what will become the outer side of the leg when everything is turned right side out) and sew the two sock parts to the thigh parts. The legs should look like reflections of each other at this point. Also sew the upper edge of the shoulder (the rounded part) on the arm piece.
4. Sew the outer edges of the shoulders and the bottoms of the hips just a bit. Youll need to do this so that you can sew on the arms and legs. This is kind of hard to explain, but basically you lay the arm piece over the shoulder so that the edges of the arm piece are at the armpit and the seam of the shoulder is at the place where, when cutting out the arm piece, the fold in the fabric was. Sew on the legs the same way, so that the edges are at the crotch and the fold is at the hip seam.
5. Now sew from the tips of the fingers to the armpit to the hip and repeat on the other side. Then go from the toes to the crotch to the other toes. Sew from the shoulder to where you attach the ear to the face and repeat on the other side. Turn the doll inside out.
6. Sew the back of the hair to the back of the head and either A) To have exchangeable front hair pieces sew it on fire. Attach Velcro to the forehead and the back of the front hair pieces or B) To have a permanent front hair piece sew the front piece it to the front of the face and then close it. Done!
27  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / LSP and EVE Plush Charms on: September 08, 2010 09:06:36 AM

Lumpy space Princess from Adventure Time with Finn and Jake:

Im totally delighted with her expression and shape, but I do wish I had used darker thread when appliqueing her arms to make them stand out more.

EVE from WALL-E:

I wish my camera could take a better picture of the light bulb shes holding, its pretty cool, it even has the twisty wire inside the bulb.

The backs of both charms, with a key for size reference:

I used an old cell phone charm strap for LSP and had to make my own strap for EVE. (Does anyone know if normal craft stores sell the cell phone straps or can I only get them online?)
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Batman Hat/Mask on: September 08, 2010 07:01:50 AM
Da da da da da da da da BATHAT!

I wasnt sure if this should go in costumes or general clothing. I decided general because while its batman based, its main function is keeping my head warm, not cosplaying. I made the hat by modifying this pattern: http://frederatorblogs.com/adventure_time/files/2010/03/finn-hat.pdf by adding ears and a mask and altering the chinstrap part. Its actually pretty comfortable to wear, and I made the eyeholes extra long so I can wear my glasses over it

Without glasses:

With (dirty) glasses:

Profile:

The back (ignore rats nest hair):

Action shot (I tried to make it look like I was holding up my fists, but it looks more
like some weird aggressive dance) with it tied:

Lined in this incredibly soft blue and black plaid fabric:

The eyeholes are hand sewn, so they look kind of wonky, but Im not sure how to
fix them.

Does anyone else think this could be epic? I haven't participated in a swap yet, but I'd love to make something or get something with an Adventure Time theme.
