11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Portal Loaded Charm Bracelet on: August 15, 2011 06:44:36 PM

This was my first serious attempt at making any kind of jewelry as well as my first time sculpting, painting, and sealing beads. I made it for my partner, a loaded charm bracelet lover, in the Portal & Friends Swap. I'm currently working on another version for myself because I ended up falling in love with loaded charm bracelets as I made this one.

The whole thing:

I chose the clasp specifically because it was the shape of a portal. For 'filler' beads I used blue and orange glass (?) beads to signify the portals, and red and black beads to signify the turret's eyes and the surveillance cameras in the facility.

The charms (clockwise from the oval clasp) are:
Morality Core
Heart (for the Companion Cube)
Turret
Curiosity Core
Wheatley
GLaDOS
Anger Core
Adventure Core (Rick)

Cake/Logic Core
Space Core (SPAAAAAAAACE!)
Atlas
Fact Core
Lemon (as in "I don't want your damn lemons")
P-Body

Here it is worn:

12  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Dual Survival T-Shirt on: August 15, 2011 01:03:00 PM

I made this shirt for my sister's birthday using the freezer paper stencil technique. I based the stencil on this image:

Me and my sister both love Dual Survival, mostly because of Dave and Cody's epic bromance.

14  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Sculpty and Acrylic Question on: August 05, 2011 12:55:04 PM
Hello, polymer clay newbie here. I recently made several small beads with Sculpty clay and baked them.  I tried to paint them with Acrylic, and it came out nicely, but the paint rubs off a little. I looked up what might be wrong and found out that I was supposed to prime the Sculpty with something before painting it. I'm not looking forward to remaking about thirty tiny beads and having to carefully paint them again, so I was hoping someone might know what I could do to keep the paint from rubbing off. Is there some sort of sealer I could use?
15  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Lackadaisy Cats Swap? on: July 15, 2011 12:56:11 PM

It's unlikely that anyone here even knows about this webcomic, but it's about bootlegging cats in Louisiana and it's pretty much the best thing ever. I'd love to have a swap based on it, so I'd probably organize if even one person wanted to do it.

The comic can be found here: http://lackadaisy.foxprints.com/index.php

Welcome to the Portal & Friends Swap, which will concentrate on games in the Portal series. Other Valve games you enjoy can be listed in your questionnaire and you can swap based on them with your partner, but the main concentration will be on Portal and Portal 2. If you want to make or receive only Portal crafts that is, of course, totally fine. It will be a four point swap (ie one large and once small, two mediums, a medium and two smalls, or four smalls).

Cake and grief counseling will be available after this swap.

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Portal 2 Inspired Wallet on: June 10, 2011 02:15:46 PM
This was made on a Portal 2 buzz I have yet to come down from. I'll admit I'm pretty proud of the wraparound laser ribbon idea.

dfabbric likes Veridina Dynamics, Volkoff inc. and Brawndo Drink Corp. She is located in Canada and has pet and smoke allergies. The swap is a four point swap.
19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Portal OR General Orange Box Swap? on: April 22, 2011 07:19:37 PM

A Portal swap was brought up on this board last year but never happened (as far as I could find at least). In honor of Portal 2 coming out, anyone up for doing one? We could make cube plushies, t-shirts with warning signs, freeform companion cube poetry, general orange and blue items, posters from the game or with GLaDOS sayings, etc.

Or, failing that, anyone up for an Orange Box game swap (with TF2 and Half-Life)?

I would be up for organizing once the swap I'm currently organizing is over.
