so i work at a salon and one of my co-workers is a HUGE morrissey fan. shse had this t-shirt for a few years and was all bummed cos she could only wear it to bed. it was like 3 sizes too big. so i took it off her hands and turned it into something that fits her. this is my first time setting eyelets but it came out ok. i wont see her till sunday so i dont have any action shots but here is what i do got.

the fabric was just 1 fat quarter i picked up from hancock fabrics for .99 cents

5  Princess lolli candyland costume in Halloween Costumes by jenny5234 on: October 26, 2009 03:50:41 PM
every year we have a big halloween decorating contest between our salon and all the other 13 stores. we won last year with hairspray as our theme. this year its been a little different. our theme is candyland. each station as a different character from the game. i am going as princess lolly. i still need to do a few small touches like adding the lollipops to the dress and making a crown but here my dress.

i could not find a yellow dress anywhere so i went to thrift town and picked up a full length yellow wool jacket for 5 bucks! after removing the sleves and stiching up the center the rest was easy. i attached a petticoat and a hot pink belt. so anywho thanks for looking

6  Fairy costume in Halloween Costumes by jenny5234 on: September 15, 2009 06:41:03 PM
ok so check it out. i went to the costume store yesterday with my girls (6 and 4) and they had no childrens costumes. they had stripper adult costumes and what seems to be stripper costumes for little people. cos i can tell you they were not in any way appropriate for children. im sorry but i dont think little girls need to dress like that. so whatever i hit up the .99 cent pattern sale and made em myself. i am not totally finished with the second but here is the first.

in progress.

so i made the flowers out of scraps cut in to circles and lil gems in the center... i still need to do the wings but hey we still got  plenty of time Smiley

Ok totally been a while since my last post! im a slacker. but here we go. my daughter lilly. (we call her lilly bug) turned 4 on sat. and she wanted a cake in the shape of a lady bug. so i made her one. i used a 10inch round for the bottom and a dome cake pan for the body of the bug. the "grass" is coconut with green food color. and the head is shaped from marshmallow fondant that i added tons of powder sugar to hold shape. the eyes i used jiggley eyes from the craft store and the antenna i used a pipe cleaner... let me know what you thank...

thanks for looking  Wink

10  Pretzle Dogs! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by jenny5234 on: September 06, 2008 09:07:14 AM
i dont know about you but my kids LOVE hot dogs. but after a while you get tored of the same ole hotdog. so i took a recipe for a soft baked pretzle and instead of twisting it in to a giant pretzle i rolled it out and lined it with cheese and placed a hotdog in the center. a more grownup version would be to place sausage in the center. anywho this was a big hit with the kids.

1 1/2 cups warm (110 to 115 degrees F) water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 package active dry yeast
22 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 4 1/2 cups
2 ounces unsalted butter, melted
8 hot dogs
cheese of your choice

Combine the water, sugar and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and sprinkle the yeast on top. Allow to sit for 5 minutes or until the mixture begins to foam. Add the flour and butter and, using the dough hook attachment, mix on low speed until well combined. Change to medium speed and knead until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the side of the bowl, approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the dough from the bowl, clean the bowl and then oil it well with vegetable oil. Return the dough to the bowl, cover with plastic wrap and sit in a warm place for approximately 50 to 55 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.

after the dough has risen divide it in to 8 equal portions you might need to flour the work surface just a bit to keep the dough from sticking. roll it out in the shape of a rectangle long enough for a hot dog to sit. lay down the cheese of your choice and put your dog on the dough. roll it up and close up the ends. place them on the baking sheet and brush with eggwash then sprinkle with coarse salt.

bake 450 deg for 10 - 12 min or till golden brown. when they come out brush with melted butter. and enjoy

i served theese with mustard that i mixed with brown sugar. it may not sound very good but it really is. it was a big hit.

Oh and 1 more thing. i have to tell you that i have little kids so i could not wait the hour  for the dough to rise they were hungry NOW. so the dough only sat for 15 min. but it turned out really good.
