2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Wooden spool and button magnets (4 pics) on: September 07, 2008 08:47:46 AM
I decided I needed some magnets for my fridge so, with the help of my mom, we made some! My mom had some antique wooden spools, which I think made awesome magnets. We also used buttons to have extra magnets.

And a side view to show the magnets. We just hot glued them on:

Here are some of the buttons. My favorite are probably the wooden ones:

And the magnets in action:

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I'm a little tea pot...(4 pics) on: September 07, 2008 07:59:15 AM
*First official project post*

Over labor day weekend I went to my mom's house and found some stuff to make jewelry out of. First, I had a little porcelain tea set. I wanted to make earrings, but we couldn't get the tea cups to lay right (I think they were too heavy). So instead, we took the "cream holder" piece and made it into a necklace:

And here's a closer shot of the charm:

Next, we found some antique keys that we got from a now deceased distant relative. So then came a necklace:

And finally, with some of the small keys came earrings:

I hope you enjoy! Thanks for looking!

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Kenmore sewing machine on: August 27, 2008 11:03:50 AM
Hi guys! I'm kind of new to this, so bare with me. I would like to buy a sewing machine (and I read the article posted on craftster!) and I think I found one that would be good.

It looks like it covers all the things I need, but I'm just trying to figure out if it is a good deal for $75 or if I should look elsewhere. Hopefully maybe someone with more expertise can help me!

Thank you!
