11  Re: MLP: Friendship is Magic Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by bekibutton on: February 06, 2012 02:49:32 PM
Thanks for the compliments guys, glad you like the hoop. A *lot* of effort went into that!  Kiss

I received today from my lovely swap angel SKooKuM (which I guess means that this swap can now be closed - sorry for being the awkward one Smiley )

'Scuse the pics, I was so excited I couldn't wait till daylight to take the photos!

Mysterious packages

A rainbow bag with a Rainbow Dash silhouette!! I love anything to do with rainbows Smiley

A pony made out of modelling clay (?)....

....but what's that cutie mark??

Buttons! Cheesy

A colouring and activity book that I am looking forward to doing a bit too much Wink

And the piece de resistance! I love Spike and I mentioned to SkooKuM that I thought Saint_Angel's aptly named Spike the Dinosaur was one of the cutest things ever, so she made a Spike the Dragon for me in the same style!

He's just the right size for me to hold Smiley

Thank you sooooo much SKooKuM  Kiss Cheesy

12  A friendly germ/bacteria for my germ-obsessed friend - but what shall I call it? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bekibutton on: December 17, 2011 10:33:21 AM
I've made this friendly germ for my secret santa recipient this year - she's obsessed with cleanliness and killing germs, so I thought I'd show her that germs can be nice Smiley

Do you think it looks enough like a germ/bacteria? It's pretty much just made up and not scientific at all, but I kind of based the idea around a felt plant cell I made a while back (here's my blog post on it if you're interested).

He/she/it needs a name - so far my dad's suggested 'Gerry' and my bro's suggested 'Colin', but neither of them are really doing it for me. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can call him/her/it please?  Huh

Thanks! Smiley

Don't know if anyone is still interested but I though I'd post pics of what I sent to my swap partner, as I was very impressed with myself for making what I did Smiley

First up, a Zecora hoop:

Angled shot so you can see the layers:

One of my signature button bracelets in Applejack colours:

A Rainbow Dash button bracelet - this looked so much better in real life than in the (rubbish) photo. It's one of my favourite button bracelets that I've made, ever, (and I've made a lot!). So hard to part with it  Sad

A Fluttershy cutie mark necklace:

Closeup on the butterflies:

And some little pin badges (I just got a badge maker and wanted to try it out!) in Mane Six colours:

Whaddaya think? Smiley

PS Please excuse the picture quality - something somewhere along the line has been a bit enthusiastic with the image compression!  Huh

14  Nyan Cat bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by bekibutton on: July 12, 2011 01:03:43 PM
For those who might not know who/what NyanCat is, check out this video Cheesy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4
I'll warn you, it's not to everyone's tastes  Shocked but it makes me smile every time I see it!

I made this bag for a recent button swap (hence the buttons) and although I just made it as a random large bag for my swap partner to use for whatever, she informs me that it's the perfect size for her netbook, which is appropriate seeing as nyancat is an internet meme and the raison d'etre of a netbook is to access the internet. Anyway, on to the pictures!

I managed to put a zip in!

Lining too!

If I hadn't spent hours sewing on buttons, the bag itself would only have taken maybe half an hour to put together. It's a pretty simple pattern Smiley

What do you think?

15  Re: I ♥ LOVE ♥ Buttons Swap Round 3 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by bekibutton on: July 07, 2011 02:44:29 PM
Right, here are my goodies from littlebluegirl! It's pic-heavy I'm afraid...

The package when I first opened it, got a bit carried away opening the card before I remembered I was supposed to photograph everything

The card up close (me and littlebluegirl both love rainbows so this is amazing Smiley)

Look at all the little details on it!

Five different packages all beautifully wrapped with brown paper (how did you know I love brown paper?! lol), pink string and a pink button on each one.

First up: gorgeous little stacked button magnets - so cute

A little house keyring which is actually very timely cos I'm looking to move house imminently - this will be an incentive to get a new set of keys to use it on!

A knitted (?) cuff made from recycled silk, cotton and viscose, with toggle buttons - it fits *perfectly* Cheesy

A very clever knitted button cloth thing in a lovely bright pink-y colour (littlebluegirl, is this for decoration or practical use? I don't want to wreck it by using it for the wrong thing!)

Left the biggest package till last and squee-d even before I'd undone the bubble wrap:

How amazing is this! Just look at the buttony goodness *swoon* littlebluegirl based this on a piece of Tatty Devine jewellery that I've got on my Wists (that I've actually bought since I added it to the Wist). This box may well become my Tatty Devine/posh jewellery box Smiley

Then I looked inside the box and lo and behold there were more goodies!

These teeny fabric covered buttons (which I already have plans for)

and a cute little jar full of cool buttons! I can't choose my favourites Smiley

Maggie decided to try and get into that lovely wooden box (no chance!)

and weirdly me and littlebluegirl used almost exactly the same style of button stamps on our packaging!

It's all so lovely, thank you littlebluegirl!

16  Re: Please let me know what you think of my logo ideas in Get Product and Website Opinions by bekibutton on: August 01, 2010 02:58:47 PM
Thanks again for all your replies Smiley

I did a little tally and I think it works out that one button and the rounded font are the most popular. However I've read through the many suggestions and come up with a few more mockups

I have now given myself way more choice - d'oh! Makes it even harder to decide  Roll Eyes

I'm a little confused, as you spell your name with an 'i' and use 'y' in the logo. Your name is usually all over your etsy site as proprietor and I think people like me would be confused.

Yeah, I spell my real name Becki but Becky Button is kind of my alter ego, so I'm going to have to remember to spell it differently when I'm doing stuff as her Cheesy

I wanted a memorable item as the 'charm' on the dangle chains for my bracelets and necklaces (I've been using rhino charms for my charity items and little generic button charms for everything else) so I was hoping to use one of the buttons from my logos. Not sure what to use otherwise....

Thanks again!

Thank you for the feedback guys (and for being gentle lol)!

So I think we've narrowed it down to the single button which, now I look back at both designs, I definitely prefer. Although when I first did it the highlight was white and I didn't like it so much.

Unfortunately the font in the first one doesn't 'bold' so I can't do the not-boldbold thing with it. I could buy Arial Rounded which gives a similar effect although obviously I'd prefer to work with the fonts I've got... so I've redone the second logo with the button from the first. Seems like everyone prefers the more rounded font though Huh

Thank you again  Kiss

18  Please let me know what you think of my logo ideas in Get Product and Website Opinions by bekibutton on: July 25, 2010 08:35:44 AM
Hello all,

I'm looking to rebrand my Etsy shop (amongst other things) in preparation for introducing a new range of products. My current 'brand identity' was a five-minute thing and not intended to be long-term. Now I'm looking for something a little more professional and versatile. I've been asking my younger sister for her opinions on my logo designs but she thinks everything I do is amazing Grin so it would be great to get impartial and honest feedback from my peers please Smiley

I intend to be selling a diverse range of products so have tried to stay away from anything too specific. One thing is, with my 'company' name and the current logo ideas, do you expect me to be selling buttons? I read it as being just an unusual name but then I've been calling myself Becky Button for years so I'm probably a little desensitised to it...  Huh

I started out with this idea, which I thought was ok but lacking a bit of spark (it's based on my avatar):

So then I tried to jazz it up a bit:

The idea with the second one is that those buttons can be whatever colour(s) I want them to be - Xmas colours in December for example, or shades of green for eco-friendly products.

Please help me to work out what to do! Any feedback gratefully received (but please be gentle)  Kiss

Wow Loukr, those buttons look yummy in your photos Cheesy I love the photo of the fan too...I've just gone for the point-and-shoot option on these pics I'm afraid Smiley

I seriously have since thought of 101 things I could have done that are related to my local area, but I guess they'll just have to wait till next time! I was slightly frustrated at the lack of tourist-y things available where I live.  Undecided

Anyways I received from the wonderful Loukr and here are the pictures!

Package arrives - I tore it open in my excitement to find beautifully wrapped and rainbow coloured packages!

Once carefully unwrapped, I found:

A beautiful picture of Loukr's place of residence that she took herself:

BUTTONS! I've been wanting some military style buttons for a while, so these are absolutely perfect, and I'm already thinking that the clear vintage buttons are going to need their own special project Smiley

Lovely soaps:

A gorgeous and eminently useful bag from her Etsy shop and some flowers and leaves she pressed last year (the flowers are going to need their own project too):

Bunting! I love bunting, and this already has pride of place across the curtain rail in my bedroom Smiley

She also sent some chocolate buttons from my favourite chocolate shop Montezuma's, which has a shop in her city, but they didn't quite make it to being photographed! And of course the obligatory information leaflets along with a lovely postcard Smiley

Hope I haven't missed anything...Thanks Loukr for being an amazing swap partner for my first swap!

PS Thanks stellou for liking the skirt  Kiss

20  More acrylic goodness/weirdness :) PIC HEAVY in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by bekibutton on: April 18, 2010 01:29:08 PM
Thought you might like to see today's creations, again with rubbish photos because I was so desperate to post them up here for some C&C! Roll Eyes

The fairy's for my sister to wear to her fairy themed 25th birthday party - unfortunately I had a little incident when checking the fit of the chain and snapped the poor fairy's arm off! It's being glued back together as we speak but I might have to redesign her to prevent a repeat...

I'm particularly proud of her feet as I 'drew' them myself and although they took aaages to get right I like to think it was worth it in the end:

The phone is for my friend who really really wants an old fashioned telephone but a) can't afford one and b) still lives at home, so I thought I'd make her a little brooch in her favourite colours. There will be a brooch back on the handset (?) bit so the main body of the 'phone' dangles freely. Haven't decided yet if I want to add a wire phone cord - what are your thoughts?

This last one's a bit weird - I teach chicken keeping courses and am always looking out for weird chicken-y things to wear whilst doing them. There's the added bonus that I might be able to sell chicken-related products to both my course attendees and other chicken owners. This one might be a bit too far out for most sensible people - it was inspired by cameo necklaces and as you can see it's got a very noble-looking chicken in profile in the style of a cameo necklace. Unfortunately my straight-on shot was even worse than the rest of my pics so hopefully you get the gist from this dramatically angled pic. Bit too weird?

Thanks for looking!
