11  Rowan Spray Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by knitster88 on: September 29, 2005 06:36:04 PM
Decided this afternoon that i wanted a hat. went to lys, then coffee shop, hour and a half/two hours later we have this. my first improved hat too by the way. Its made of Rowan Spray. First time i saw it was today. i fell in looove.

My sexy ass wearing the hat.

The hat itself

and a close up of the rowan spray.

the rowan spray is so cool. regular multi color yarn with red spritzed on. reminds me of blood and my twisted sense of style likes that.  either way i hope you like.

Rowan Spray 2x2 rib forty stitches. Size fifteen needles. two stitches to the inch.

13  Lots-o-stuff-scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by knitster88 on: September 05, 2005 01:18:49 PM
Just finished this, still have to weave in some ends but i couldnt wait to post, so just imagine this scarf with out all the loose strings.

Scarf on the magic lamb

Scarf on the kitchen table

The striped sections are different lenghts, i dint realize it until i looked at this picture. When I started the scarf i was worried about running out of the brown yarn and was really excited about how it looked so i kept adding new materials for the stripes every inch or so. When I finished the scarf i knew I wasnt running out of yarn and I was putting of doing homework.

Hereres what I used in the scarf:
Stripe one
Green and white checked ribbon
Black/white/silver "ladder" yarn
Multi tonal green wool

Stripe two
bias tape

stripe three
fuzzy fuzzy yarn
maxi piping

stripe four
hairy yarn
chenile yarn
dyed lace (pink)

other side....

stripe one
orange and pink wool held together (cascade 220 and lambs pride)
multitonal orange ribbon
hand spun schafer yarn

stripe two
fuzzy fuzzy yarn
eyelash yarn
hairy yarn

stripe three
bias tape
hand spun chafer yarn
blue/orange cotton.

stipe four
cotton yarn
alpaca yarn

the brown is bouton d'or yarn dune

I dont know whats up with die_on_a_rope.... the usps website said my package arrived  on the 15th and she hasnt contacted me at all. so i guess ill post the stuff i sent her.

The note book was the big part of the package. I took a pice of corrugated cardboard and glued some fun scrapbooking paper on to it. then i sewed on (using my machine) all of the ribbon, lace and bias tape. use another piece of cardboard for the back (its nice white stuff from the scrapbooking isle) add some eyelets and loose binder rings and walla.

The pen is actually a feather from my pet peacock. Trimmed it down so it was actually useable (ive seen feather pens with two foot long feathers, not practical) and glued it to the pen with some fun orange ribbon.

and this is what it came in. When I made it i figured it would be used to store the notebook and then papers for a class. Will she use it? I dont know but i still think its cool. Its fuzzy pink fabric that ive had FOREVER, the green is grosgrain ribbon and the redbow is actually maxi-piping. I figured then if she doesnt like it its tie on, and she has some red piping to playwith.

Hope you guys like the stuff, and I hope she likes it...

*EDIT* I dont know why the pictures are so gosh darn small, but i can get bigger ones if anyone would like to see the notebook bigger. The bag doesnt have too much detail but the notebook does.

very first hat I ever make, finished a couple weeks ago, and it looks like hell on me. Always figured myself a hat person and lo and behold this one looks like crap atop my noggin. gave it to my best friend, its hot on her.

and my very first legwarmer which requires a garter, or me to get off my tush and block it. I havnt made its partner yet (kickin out some gifts yet) but itll look the exact same, so just imagine theres two there and there you have the pair.

hope you enjoy. my

sorry the pics are a bit blurry, i was having to monkey with my camera the while time.

ok.. mar drunkstar... i saw your mohawk and started thinking you could probably help me with this...

seeing that my parents (yes I am only a young and helpless 14 years old) wont let my dye my hair, for the summer I want to cut it into a mohawk. But i dont exactly want to shave the sides, i dont like bangs (on me they look rediculus, but i love yours in the picture on this thread)  but i still want a mohawk (i'm picky, i know) do you have any idea how i could cut it to get it into a mohawk but so i'm not completely shaving it?

sorry for picking at your brain, if anyone else can help me.. please do! thanks!

im a big fan of the mohawks where you still have your hair a normal length and then put up the middle...

kinda like this

or this

this is a little more up close, i still just love looking at this purse. and it was so fun to do. maybe that was because of the lack of ventilation in my room. but pouring the colors and watching them flow was just a treat.

this was a little project of mine from a while back that got a pretty good response from my friends. so here she is

as i was cleaning my room i came across a large stash of nail polish which it had become obvious that i was never going to use again. i was thinking of streaking it down a window or a door or something like that but then the idea came to use it on fabric. so my purse was born. the purse is nothing special actually, a pretty standard square bottomed bag (i never got a picture of the final product) but the paint is really the cool part, and it could be used on so darn many different things.

all i did was drizzle all the nail polish over the bag, flipping it upside down to give even color and what not. when i had all the polish on i sprayed it with glitter craft spray. then when it dried the glitter was in the wet paint so there was no glitter getting all over my life.

this is the close up of the paint right after i sprayed it with the glitter spray

and the full panal

let me know what you think, you really have to see the colors up close, they just melt together.
