1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / His and Hers Victorian Skeletons on: October 31, 2017 10:19:24 AM
I made these for the wonderful Mistress Jennie in the most recent Vintage Halloween swap. They are primarily a mixture of long-and-short stitch and backstitch; with a bit of satin stitch thrown in. I'm really happy with how they turned out!

The patterns are from Urban Threads.
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 118 ENTRIES / The Ron Weasley Afghan on: April 12, 2017 04:10:48 PM
Two summers ago Mistress Jennie hosted the One Awesome Harry Potter Thing Swap and I was lucky enough to be paired with the delightful Abbeeroad.  Abbee's "wish list item" was an afghan like Ron has in the Harry Potter movies.

Like this one...

After some hunting online I came across a tutorial on Revelry by Penguineer's Purls and used her chart as a guideline to make my own.  This project is made of 7 inch knitted squares, 80 of them, then all sewn together to create a massive 70" by 56" afghan.  If you are ever in need of a stash busting project, look no further.

Here is my version...

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tenth Doctor Whoopla (with LED) on: May 19, 2012 06:49:22 PM
I stitched this up for a swap about a year ago and realized I never got around to posting it over here.  At the time this was one of my first embroidery projects and the first time to incorporate applique (his suit), crayon tinting (the TARDIS) and an LED light!  I'm super pleased with how it turned out.  Now I need to make one with a green LED for Matt Smith's sonic screwdriver.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Firefly/Serenity Wash's Dinosaurs Pillow on: April 19, 2011 03:19:46 PM
I made this pillow for ifallthraindrops for the Whedonverse 6 swap; and since she has received and posted I thought I would share it here as well.

For anyone that has not seen Firefly the inspiration for this piece comes from a scene where the ships pilot (Wash) is playing with two toy dinosaurs and acts out how they may have interacted while exploring their now found homeland. The image of Wash is based off of an action figure (though I don't recall what company makes it) and is crayon tinted.  Most of the outlining was done in stem stitch and back stitch.  The text was all backstitch and the "thread shading" was done with a single strand of floss in back stitch.  The back and borders are a dinosaur printed flannel.

Here is a close up of the image detail:

Thanks for looking.
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Buffy the Vampire Slayer "Hush" Pillow on: June 18, 2010 08:20:30 AM
This was made for my partner Padfoot, as part of the Whedonverse Swap.  Since she's received and posted I thought I would put it up here too.  For anyone who hasn't seen this episode of Buffy, this is taken from a scene where Giles tries to explain, using an overhead projector, who the monsters that took their voices are, what they want and how to defeat them.

This was my first attempt at (non-cross stitch) embroidery and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

and the other...

The original design was found at CafePress and was designed by Mortui Non Mordent.

Thanks for looking.  Smiley
