1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Hello! I'm New looking for opinions on: August 19, 2008 06:54:47 AM
Thank you so much for the tips!

I went out on a limb, and purchased my very first sewing machine,

I dont know if its any good, but its working for me soo far!
Being a complete  "no clue" bran spankin new sew'er it took me at least 30+ minutes to even work out how to thread the machine! then i realised i needed a loaded bobbin to stitch underneath, rather then confusing myself with how to thread the bobbin i just bought some already loaded black and white ones. lol!

I made a Pillow. its absolutely shocking, but one thing i remember was to sew from the inside, but then i couldnt work out how to close the top of the pillow case once it had been stuffed.....

heres my very first disaster peice...

Ohh i also played with one of my stitches.. lol so it does look pretty shocking...

My shocking uneven mess..

I hope i've gotten the right area, but im new here!

I'am about too bring sewing into my life!

I havn't used a sewing machine for around 8 years back at School.

A friend of mine has made some BEAUTIFUL items for her daughter and i've infact bought a few things from her for my daughter, and its made me want too learn how too sew!

Shes given me a few tips on what too buy to start out

Spare sewing machine needles
Measuring tape & ruler

(obviously a sewing machine aswell!)

I'd love to hear some other ideas on where to start! and tips for beginners!

I'm Kim, 23 and from Western Australia, mum too a 4.5 year old little girl!
