1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Searching for girls lace dress pattern! on: February 01, 2015 06:17:58 AM
I am wanting to sew my daughter an Easter dress out of some gorgeous mint lace I found. I can't find a pattern, and I'm not skilled enough to make my own. Does anyone know where I can find one similar to this
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help! what should i do? on: May 05, 2010 09:34:15 AM
So I decided to make a pillow for my husband with the horde symbol on one side and alliance symbol on the other, so i found a cross stitch chart, counted it up, and crocheted up a front. What I didn't take into account was that my stitches would be taller than they were wide, so now my pillow is tall and awkward looking.... I though about removing the bottom rows and folding the top rows down when I stitched the sides together, but then I remembered my alliance symbol is that tall, so I can't do that. Is there a way to fix this without completely unraveling the whole thing and starting over? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's my front...

p.s. the symbol doesn't look so scraggly in real life
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Mario cross stitch words on: October 01, 2009 12:01:45 PM
My husband is making a mario cross stitch where mario is over a turtle about to jump on it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for wording? You craftsters are super smart so I know I won't be disappointed!

This is the mario he's doing, but without the background and mario over the turtle. Thanks!!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gift for a friend? on: November 20, 2008 10:57:14 AM
A group of my online friends decided to draw names and exchange gifts this year. We also decided the gifts had to be hand made (whether we did it ourselves, or bought something from etsy.com). The price is $20. I'm not sure what to make her.

A little bit about her:
She got married last December and is about to move into a new home (they have been living in and apartment).
Her favorite color is cranberry red.
She loves cross stitching, baking (especially cookies), playing piano, singing (musical theater & opera), going to musicals and classical concerts.
I think she likes to read.

Craftiness I can do:
A little tiny bit of sewing
some scrapbooking
(i'm not very crafty :/ but i'm working on that lol)

She lives in California, so i'm thinking no on a scarf. I also thought about buying her cross stitch stuff, but that's not hand made....I am stuck! Please help...

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / 1-year wedding anniversary gift? on: November 18, 2008 11:17:09 AM
I am trying to figure out something to make for my husband for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The traditional gift is supposed to be paper, but I just can't think of anything! I'm having major creativity blockage here. Any help would be appreciated.

Things he likes:
-Hunting (deer, outdoors, rustic, etc etc)
-Online games (we play World of Warcraft together)
-Video games (he loves the classic ones from NES and super)
-Reading: mostly fantasy books (as in dragons and wizards, not dirty dirty haha), but he also reads some Clive Cussler books
-Some Anime (I know he like Dragon ball z...isn't that an anime? I don't really know much about anime)
-Movies: pretty much everything. Disney, Comic-type (batman, spiderman, etc), action movies (like die hard, but what guy doesn't like those types of movies??), stuff like braveheart and robin hood, anything by Mel Brooks

I can't think of anything else....
Please help me come up with an idea! Thanks!
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Oh no! Please help!! on: October 30, 2008 02:28:31 PM
I didn't think I was doing anything for Halloween, so I didn't do a costume. Now my sister-in-law needs me to help her take my niece trick-or-treating!! I really want to dress up, but I have no clue what to dress as. Please help!
7  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Need help! Tutu costume? on: September 05, 2008 05:59:21 PM
I want to wear a tutu this Halloween because tutus are awesome! I have no clue what to be. I also wanted to do a couples themed costume with my husband. He really wants to Mario and me be Princess Peach, which would be awesome, but I don't know if a tutu would make a good skirt. What do you think? Any suggestions?? Anything would be much appreciated!
