1  Re: Birds Birds Birds r2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by OhThat on: June 24, 2010 11:22:42 AM
I am SOO SOOO SOOO sorry I am late getting these up, I feel terrible about it Sad  I had surgery on May 12th on my foot tendon and have had a lot of problems since then (infections, hospitalization, etc).  I'm finally home and well and was THRILLED to open my beautiful wonderful package today from spectrumsparksie.  She did an amazing job on everything and sent me the most wonderful package ever.  I can't thank you enough, seriously.  I LOVED every single item, you went over the top with amazing stuff.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

A beautiful wind chime, I love it!

little birds made of shrinky dink AND they are embossed, what a great idea and they look so professional.  There is a big bag of these, they are going to look so cute holding up my kids artwork and stuff.

Fabric boxes, one looks like it will fit a box of tissues, the other can hold my Sharpie markers.  I LOVE the print on the fabric!!

This beautiful purse!  She said the fabric hand printed in Australia, I love it!!!

The whole package.  The bird tea towel is beautiful, it will look great in my kitchen, I'm actually going to stretch it like a canvas and hang it that way Smiley  Also, the frozen smiles ice molds?  I have wanted those for YEARS, I actually gasped when I opened them!!!  And at the bottom are adorable little note cards (I never have enough of those) with birds on them.

I am so blessed, thank you again!!  Everyone please tell her what a great job she did for me, I feel so terrible that I couldn't share this all sooner because she worked so hard. Sad

I rec'd from OopsCreations and got a GREAT box of fabric, thank you!  She sent it right away, but I just had ankle surgery and was recovering from that and didn't realize that her package had arrived and was waiting in my craft room, thanks to my dear husband.  There is a lot of cool fabrics (you can't tell it in the photos but those ziploc bags are stuffed full).  Thanks again Oops!! Smiley

3  Re: 12 Days of Christmas 2009 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by OhThat on: December 14, 2009 12:34:05 PM
Day 1 - no package
Day 2 - no package

On the 3rd day of Christmas:  Sock monkey knitting kit Smiley

Even if I never figure out how to knit, I know people who do, maybe I can talk them into making this for me Smiley

On the 4th day of Christmas:  Her card says "kind of a random day" but it is certainly a great one!!!

A bunch of homemade dog and cat treats for for our pets!  The dogs have already sampled and say they are DELICIOUS.  Brrrp (one of our cats) loves the catnip dipped bird, as you can see....

Beautiful embroidered note cards with my favorite flower - poppies!  I'm so happy she sent two of each design so I can keep one and send one.

A SUPER AWSOME planner with the Marimekko flower design on the front and my name too!  On the inside is the Swedish phrase (as on the rolling pin), I love it!

And the BEST thing ever, a Marimekko bag with a poppy print on it!  I love it, I've been wanting a bag like this for forever.  And now I have a matching planner to keep inside.  People with think I have it all together!  I don't know how you found this, iheartzb, but I love it, thanks!

On the 5th day of Christmas:

Package on the way.....also arrived 12/22!

Baking supplies! (just in time for baking day tomorrow).  Some measuring cups and spoons, some mixing spoons and super cute embroidered dishcloths with gingerbread people.  And a nice rolling pin with the Swedish phrase that means "Away is good, but home is best" Smiley

On the 6th day of Christmas:

Stuff to pamper myself with Smiley

Bath salts, an adorable eye mask with eyelashes embroidered on, homemade soaps, LOTS of socks (I'm an avid sock collector!!), lotions, body wash and body spray and of course, chocolates!

On the 7th day of Christmas:

Package on the way.....Arrived 12/22, yay!

A learning to knit kit Smiley  A loom thingie (which I've been looking at for months, but never bought one), some super soft yarn, something called "plarn" and a project bag to keep the yarn from getting tangled (or attacked by the cats).  I can't wait to get started and see if I can actually tangle some yarn together and make it look like something!!!

On the 8th day of Christmas - embroidery awesomeness!

She included hoops, pre-made lined cards so I can embroider designs on paper, transfers, embroider floss and a cute needle book with needles.  And most importantly, a VERY helpful book on how to do a million different embroidery stitches.  Thanks!!!!

And on the 9th day of Christmas - supplies!

a hand stamped apple totebag to hold all of the goodies in: two sizes of glue sticks, a big bag of cool buttons, three things of elastic (which I needed SO bad to finish my kids Christmas PJ pants!!!!), a pack of steam-a-seam, a glue gun, two stacks of scrapbooking papers and Sharpies!!!  Thanks a million iheartzb!

On the 10th Day of Christmas, iheartzb gave to me:

a giant wreath made from an embroidery hoop (some of the parts fell of, but I have glue handy!)

a pretty candle holder and some beautiful candles (I can NEVER have enough candles or candle holders!!!)

the cutest knitted(crochet?) Charlie Brown sweater ornament!  I love it and so does DH!!  A starfish made into a santa, a measuring tape made into a bow, then an ornament (love it!) and the best things ever, the gingerbread men cookie cutters I've been wanted for YEARS!!!!!

and a beautiful Christmas Memories album, what a great idea!!!!  It has a built in recorder so I can put a message or song on it (I think that's what it's for).  But I love it and I'm already putting things in it.  I'm a collector of small bits to remember things by so this is perfect.

Thanks SO much iheartzb, I love everything so far Smiley

On the 11th Day of Christmas, iheartzb gave to me:

lots of yummy goodies (pumpkin pinwheels, chocolate kisses, peppermint bark, chocolate caramel pretzels).  Mmmmmm.  Plus two awesome containers which I desperately need for sending cookies to school this Friday!  Smiley

I rec'd 12 very cool package bows made of recycled magazines - and matching gift tags (plus a bonus silver sharpie marker) Smiley

Yay for a great start!

4  Re: Sock &/or Glove Doll Swap - Send outs Monday 11/09/09 in The Swap Gallery by OhThat on: November 27, 2009 06:37:31 AM
I finally rec'd from titaniumhip today - though the delay was not her fault, it was a lazy USPS fill-in carrier who decided that she only wanted to deliver mail and save packages for the regular carrier to deliver when he came back from being sick  Angry

Anyway, it was worth the wait because look who arrived!!!

ADORABLE, right?!?  She did a great job, she's good a sock dolls!  I've named him Nigel and the little guy is Seth Smiley

And she sent extra goodies that are SO cute and match perfectly with the entire package:

I am a lucky girl today and titaniumhip is a great and patient swap partner (sort of like the Great and Powerful Oz-lol)

Thank you SO much, both for your wonderful package and your patience, you deserve an extra gold star!!!!

(and don't worry, I complained bitterly to the postmaster and they assured me that no, they don't want me to post anything about this experience on my blog for everyone to hear about and yes, the non-deliverer will not be called back to help them)  Grin

5  This sweater needs to be a pillow in What the heck can I do with THIS? by OhThat on: November 17, 2009 09:55:20 AM
This is a favorite sweater sent to me by a friend.  She LOVES it, but her snooty friends make fun of her for wearing it (it's just for Christmas, no other time).  I offered to make it into a pillow for her and it just arrived today.  However, the cat is not centered, it's close to the top and I want to make a really cool pillow for her.  I can't knit, only sew.  The cat must be included.  Any suggestions??? Thanks!!!

6  Re: October 2009 Birthday Swap Gallery/discussion in The Swap Gallery by OhThat on: October 27, 2009 09:18:53 AM
I received an amazing package from InShambles and it came right on my birthday!  I absolutely love everything!

She figured out that I love birds and read that I wanted a Domokun cell phone holder so she made me this awesome bag of super soft corduroy with a painted bird on front and the CUTEST little Domokun cellphone cozy lined in fleece with a carabiner to keep it safely in my purse!

And she made me a cowl and mittens from a recycled cashmere sweater that are just BEAUTIFUL!  The color is much prettier in real life, my camera is new and confusing to me.  They are so soft and fit perfectly.

Thank you so much InShambles, you did an amazing job in what you made and making things for me that were perfect for me!!!!

7  Zombie Brains Cupcake in Dessert by OhThat on: October 14, 2009 12:45:46 PM
This is the cupcake I made for my 12 year old to pass to his friends on his birthday on October 13th.  It was a HUGE hit, even to the point that his art teacher took photos of it and 2 girls in his class refused to touch the brain.

They taste really good, despite the way they look.  They are made of red velvet cake mix, cream cheese frosting and the brains are made of chocolate using a miniature brain candy mold.  Super simple to make if you can find the mold.  I found mine on eBay but I know they're sold elsewhere online (with outrageous shipping prices, IMO).  The chocolates can be found in any cake decorating section of craft stores (Michael's, JoAnn, etc.), the cake mix and frosting can be made from scratch or purchased at any grocery store.

Aren't they awesome?Huh

**note:  the photos I took of my creation were deleted from my camera when my husband tried to download them, so the photos shown here belong to Flickr user xsomnis.  She has given permission to use them as long as I gave her credit for them.  Check out her Flickr photo stream, she does amazing art!

I rec'd today from sirmamabear today

Two lovely bookmarks, lots of fused plastic art and some nice ribbon.  The envelope (which was fused plastic too, very cool but I didn't get a photo as I was in the hospital using my camera phone) wasn't sealed all the way when it arrived so I hope nothing fell out!  Thanks sirmamabear!

9  Re: Vintage /Thrift store lovers swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by OhThat on: October 02, 2009 04:21:35 PM
I'm not sure if my partner, Midnight, is able to post photos of what I sent to her, so I made a little collage.  Maybe she'll post photos of her own which will be much better.  Her eras were the 30's and 40's.

I sent her a vintage beaded purse owned the wife of a US Congressman, a crocheted snood, pin up girls magnets, vintage set of pearls in a bag I made of some cool art deco fabric I had, a package of Sculpey clay in many colors, some fabric squares in colors and patterns she likes, 2 yards (maybe more) of some cool fabric from the 40's, a pin cushion I made from a vintage powder makeup container from Hollywood, a book called The German Woman about an English woman married to a German man during the end of WWI and through WWII with lots of details about fashion and lifestyle then, a little coin purse made out of I Love Lucy fabric, small packet of scrapbooking paper that reminded me of the 30's and 40's, a vintage postcard, and a bunch of candy (Bazooka bubble gum, Jelly Belly jelly beans, Cinnabon chocolate candy, Sweetarts, etc. (I can't remember all of it).

And that's it!  It was lots of fun finding things for this swap, I really enjoyed it.

I rec'd today from Midnight, a lovely package of things just for me:

She knew poppies are my favorite flower so she sent a Marimekko inspired poppy painting and poppy pin Smiley  She also sent a bowl made of an old vinyl record, very cool, two felt birds and she knew I collected vintage children's books so she sent me one called The Folk of the Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. It's perfect.  And of course, lots of sweets that I can't wait to try.

Also some AWESOME vintage IKEA fabric that I LOVE.  I have a lampshade with this pattern on it and it's my favorite.  She also made me a nice bag out of the same fabric too.

And the last bit is an awesome shirt from her university (I scrambled the name, I wasn't sure if she wanted it advertised where she attends school) and a beautiful bangle that matches the bag.

Thank you Midnight for a lovely package Smiley
