14  Call her blessed for christmas in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Malbert on: December 11, 2008 10:07:48 AM
I made this for my mom for christmas, it is a collage of photos of her, my grandma and I because they both instilled a love for creativity in me as my grandma taught me to sew and my mom taught me other crafties.  It comes from a scripture in Proverbs that talks about the woman of noble character and it says that "her children will rise and call her blessed."  They both blessed me greatly and in many ways, so I wanted to play off of that.

This was originally an idea for a tattoo... the brush words and needle, but that is on hold for now.

16  Krazy Knitting..... IMG HEAVY in Knitting: Completed Projects by Malbert on: December 11, 2008 08:51:23 AM
Well, I have done a good bit of knitting over the past few weeks and wanted to show off some completed christmas presents...

First I made a little case for my gps so it wont get scratched

Then I finished a really long crayon scarf a friend has gotten me the yarn for as a gift last christmas....

and I made it too long so I folded it over and made.... POCKETS

Then I tried my hand at a disproportional christmas stocking....

And converted the pattern into slipper socks which I then had to perfect...

Finally... a neck warmer...

Thanks for looking! c&cs welcome

17  Re: Buy Nothing Swap Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Malbert on: November 08, 2008 01:00:16 AM
I sent my package to DV the other day and she asked me to go ahead and post pictures because she couldnt find her camera...

DV is always losing her crochet hooks, so I made her a little rolly caddy to keep them all in.  She loves polka dots and pink/black/white is one of her favorite color combos, so I threw in pink thread with this transformed pillowcase...

Apron I made for her...

It says "Kiss the Crafter"

A little pillow with crochet hooks made out of fleece...

A super snuggly scarf with pockets based on the attached instructable...

As we both share a deep love for Project Runway, I made her a Tim Gunn Cube-e-craft since there was no way I could made the jokingly requested bobble head out of things I already owned...

I loved making all this fun stuff and it was certainly a huge struggle to make things without buying everything because I wanted to keep adding stuff to it.  But I loved the challenge.

18  Im a little penguin, short and stout in Halloween Costumes by Malbert on: November 02, 2008 09:52:13 AM
Penguins are my favorite animal and my friends and I have a running joke that I am part penguin... so I decided to be ALL penguin for halloween.  I used the Simplicity penguin pattern and then decided to make my own little eyes for it too.  Smiley

My costume Smiley

My feet covers kept slipping off.

It was really hot because it was made entirely out of polar fleece... and it wasnt THAT cold!

I had a lot of fun in it and everyone loved it... they were amazed when they found out I hadn't bought it, which is always a nice feeling.  It strokes your craftmanship ego.  Cheesy

20  Mei Tai Baby Carrier in Completed Projects by Malbert on: October 30, 2008 03:40:50 PM
I made this little Mei Tai (Asian Baby Carrier) for my roommate's sister-in-law.  Its rainbow and has Finding Nemo on it, with a little pocket for a diaper of cell phone.  The baby is tied up close to the carrier and from what I have read about them, they are supposed to be really good for you back compared to other carriers.  Here is the tutorial I used for it.  Its really good.
