1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Time Traveller Swap on: August 15, 2017 03:59:38 AM

The new Doctor is going to be a woman! And it only took them 50+ years Grin
In honor of Jodie Whittaker becoming the 13th doctor I was thinking of a Time Traveller swap.
All Time Travel themes welcome! You have a favourite book or movie or series that features time travel heavily? You have one that has a minor time travelling side plot? Then this is the swap for you!
Not just for Doctor Who although I know what's going to be the top spot on my list Wink

I haven't been organizing a swap in a while, but I guess things haven't changed too much (except for the swap feedback form, I would be happy to hear it's less buggy now). So I think I can do this. If someone wants to co-organize, I'm all for that! I would need to time this for swap time in September or October, no later.

Swap size, what do you guys think? Go big for maximum awesome, go comfortably medium sized, go small and quick?

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Azuma Wataru from Tumbling/Nephrite from PGSM and a tiny Sailor Pluto on: March 29, 2014 12:16:39 PM
A while ago, I discovered the J-drama "Tumbling" and its amazing cast, and fell in love with it.
It took me about a year to complete this Wataru amigurumi (craft blocks suck).
I recently gave him to a friend who loves him too and added the little Pluto for him to cuddle.

Reference pics

(Yamamoto Yusuke is an amazing actor. His proportions are difficult to catch in an amigurumi though and I need to do a better job on them next time.)

Amigurumi Wataru for me also represents a high school age PGSM Nephrite (long story)

Progress pics
I'm so proud of the jacket. Worked to look like it was made in rounds (by doing the backrows in backward sc), and the sleeves were done with a bigger hook so they would be flexible enough to slip through.

And a last one!

I'm currently working on the next one and this time, I'm taking notes for a pattern!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Tears to rainbows on: November 09, 2013 11:48:58 AM
I had some really really bad days, and I needed my brightest colors around me, so I made a little rainbow ripple to keep me company.

Here it is on the stool it was made to cover, brightening the room, and playing tricks with everyone's perception.

The pattern I used is the Neat Ripple Pattern from Attic24.
I think next time I would revert the colors of the second rainbow, but for this one, I liked the continuous color progression and I'm quite happy with the whole piece.
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Paddestoel? What is a paddestoel? on: December 02, 2012 03:09:24 AM
My guess is as good as yours Wink Wink Wink but they look like this:

I found these cute mushrooms by a blogger called Jacq a few weeks ago, and made two with different needle and yarn sizes. The pattern is here.
It was a challenge because the pattern is in Dutch of which I only have the most basic grasp, but it turned out that the pattern was very easy to work with. When I had to do some guessing, it was always easy from the pictures where the crochet would go.

So this was a fun autumn project!

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Kamen Rider Wizard Ring on: September 09, 2012 04:15:58 AM
I was so excited about the new Kamen Rider series. I got even more excited when I watched the trailers. Everything looked so good! And there were rumours about a female rider as well!
"Oh pleasepleaseplease don't suck!"
(And it didn't suck at all! Yay!)
In order to pass the time before it aired, I made myself a red Kamen Rider Wizard ring.

It's a bit wonky and more something like a prototype to learn how to do it better, but I'm happy wearing it each time I wait for a new episode to be up somewhere (like right now!).

And this is what it looks like in the series:

The rings come in four colors (they actually took the colors of the Hogwarts houses for the Wizard theme!) and my kids now want some in other colros, so I might make some more.
7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Bienchen the Bee on: May 19, 2012 02:35:33 PM
Since we discovered the Sweet N' Cute Creations tumblr, my kids have been requesting almost everything we see there. So I made them this little bee.

Careful, Bienchen, that's not a fellow bee!

Yes, that's a bee!

I must say the bee really is cute, but while I was working on it, I grew more and more aware that bees have six legs, not four, and that this was not a bee. I added the little fur cowl for more beeity, and then I still had to worry about proportions and posture of the thing, which took me a few trials to get right. Now that it's finished, we're all pretty happy with it.
And as our garden was very popular with the bees today, I took some pictures there.

Before adding the fur, you can see all the bee's parts in this pic quite well.
8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Chibi Kunzite on: May 06, 2012 04:02:51 PM

This is Kunzite, one of the Shitennou from the Live Action series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. He has an insanely detailed costume, and even in simplified form it's the most complex amigurumi I've made so far.
My experiments on Shitennou amis have been going on for while, but only when elfgrove on tumblr, another huge Kunzite fan, asked me to do a personal swap, I finished Kunzite. He has a fabric coat that he can take off, embroidered details, a little brooch and a wooden sword.

Here you can see a bit more of him:

Kunzite is now on his way to his new home, and he'll be in good hands. I'm very happy I finally got challenged to make him, thank you, elfgrove!

Here's the original Kunzite:

(Yes, that is a Sailor Moon villain, and yes, you should watch him it Grin

And if you want to know where I got those amazing hand models... look here to see Kunzite's encounters with lots of great cosplayers.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / The Hobbit swaps over the year on: January 14, 2012 09:51:37 AM

I can't believe there isn't a Hobbit swap thread here yet! Has no one seen the trailer? The trailer!

Swap ideas? Maybe a big one, and some smaller ones in its orbit?

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / The next Sailor Moon swap on: November 27, 2011 04:41:39 AM

Now that the current round is over, and everyone is complaining about withdrawal symptoms, when will we do the next round?

Ideas? Normal sized swap? Bigger? Smaller? OTT? A Sailor Moon themed Sweat Shoppe Swap?

I can organize if it's not December.
