monast, that's pretty!  What's the fiber content of the Albany?  It looks like a small ribbon or tube yarn?

It's 100%  cotton and yes it's a small tape yarn. I have to stop mid row to let the knitting hang to untwist which slows things down a bit. The texture is quite cool and light - definitely not the best stitch definition but I do like a little uneven-ness in this project especially if the yarn is not hand dyed.

Have a look at the specs at http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=164

Since we're talking about yarn subs - I have an unconventional one. I 'm using Jaeger Albany in a the colour Misty ( a discontinued colour).

Here's a little pic to show you how it looks -

and a little closer one

Just thought I'd share.

I wonder if I could re-work this and do it in a worsted weight. I have tons of that. Then again I could double strand. Any suggestions ??

I just casted on last night and used worsted weight ( Noro  Silk Garden) . I casted on 68.  Hope this works for you.

I'm starting tomorrow, but have a quick knitting question - can I increase the size by knitting with a larger gauge?

I'm the opposite - thinking of a smaller gauge like a worsted. i have about 3 and half balls of Noro Silk Garden which I thought to use.

I'm inspired! I've been lurking for a while but I think I just have to do this one.
It might get me over my disappointment on the OSW - I'm just too booby to wear it with style.
