21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Zombikins Family Mixed Media Art on: August 14, 2011 03:12:24 AM
I made this for Lanikins' birthday! It is her family that I drew and watercolored on cardstock, then cut out and assembled in this little shadowbox. The tree was made by noooitaremybirthday for me to use in a craft. So glad I finally found the perfect project for it!

22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Zombie Survival Curio Cabinet...Only Problem is the Zombie's Infiltrated It!! on: August 14, 2011 03:09:57 AM
I made this for the wonderful Lanikins because she rocks, she is a great friend, and she just had a birthday not long ago. She loves zombies and I had always wanted to make a zombie cabinet so I finally had an excuse! (Sorry for having SOOOO MANY PICS! There is just too much to show on this thing!)

(Resident Evil Influenced Herb Mixing)

She loved it so I am pleased! Thanks for looking!
23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / It is a Zombie Zoo in my Place Right Now! Zombie Sloth, Penguin & Panda Plushes on: August 14, 2011 02:43:21 AM
Lanikin's celebrated her birthday recently and she has come to be a great friend so I wanted to make her something I knew she would love. Well, two things she loves most in life are zombies and sloths. So naturally I combined the two and I made her this plush! Not gonna lie- I wanted to keep him. But he was most definitely meant to live with her and I was happy to send him away for a happy life with her. She obviously deserves the best!

After making sending away the sloth, I needed to fill the empty void in my heart. So I made my own favorite animal into a zombie plush: Edbert, the Zombie Penguin! (Here he is pictured with the Zombie penguin amydice made me for my birthday! They are BFF's just like me and Amy.  Smiley )

I made my best friend a teeny tiny zombie panda as they are here favorite animals. I currently have a big one in the works but I am waiting on my order of safety eyes. Smiley

Thanks for looking!

24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Teeny Tiny Plushes! on: August 14, 2011 02:38:15 AM
Just some more various teeny, tiny handsewn plushes made for friends, swaps, family, myself, etc.

Tiny 3 inch jackalope!

Tiny 3 Inch Hedwig!

Tiny  3 inch Cat. (This is my brother's cat, Smudge. He is the meanest, most evil cat in the world. My brother moved to Portland and left him with my parents and I have always threatened to package the dang cat up and mail him because he is so mean and we don't want him. So for my brother's birthday, I made him Smudge and mailed him to his place.  Smiley )

I have plenty more to post, but I still have to get pictures, so that is all for now. Thanks for looking! Cheesy
25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Wistful Wendy- Another Victorian Ghost Girl Doll on: August 14, 2011 02:31:26 AM

It was my mother's birthday yesterday (the 13th) so I made her a Victorian ghost girl doll because she made it very clear how much she loved my first one, Little Lilly. Sooooo, I based this one on her and she loved it! Her name is Wendy, and she reads more than anybody I know. She is also a children's librarian and my love for all things spooky was largely influenced by her. So here you have her:

Wistful Wendy

Here we have a child once known as Wistful Wendy,
Curious and smart, she did her own thing and was not very trendy.
With her nose always buried in an adventurous book,
She rarely ever thought to take a second look.
Wistful Wendy never took a break from her wonderful tales,
People would try to get her attention but would always fail.
Because of her lack of attention she often came close to taking a nasty fall,
But she didnt even notice because she was too enthralled.
Wistful Wendy wished real life were more like the stories she read,
And she read all day long until it was time for bed.
Unable to ever tear her eyes away,
Her family worried that she might get in trouble someday.
That day came when Wendy was walking along in her usual manner,
Her eyes glued to a book she didnt notice the creeping vines growing out from a planter.
She was surely to trip on the thick plants if she didnt look up quick,
And the road below her was made up of brick.
This spelled out disaster, but for once Wendy was unimpressed with her story,
For the first time ever she looked up because she found it boring!
It must have been fate because Wendy was able to hop over the viney patch,
She landed on her feet with not even a scratch!
Dancing with victory, Wendy was ever so pleased,
But it didnt last long and she fell to her knees.
Because of her habits her fingers were covered in paper cuts, never properly treated,
Too busy reading, the germs in the cuts spread until she was finally defeated.

26  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Beauregard, Doomed Disney Cast Mate! (Disney/Burton Inspired Doll!) on: August 07, 2011 05:38:20 PM
This is Beauregard. He once worked as a butler in a beautiful mansion but like so many others who worked in that ghastly but wonderous house, he met an early demise. He is one of the 999 souls taken by that Haunted place. Now doomed to forever roam the grounds of New Orleans Square in Disneyland as a permanent cast member, Beauregard just needs a friend. And I am here to fulfill that.

Standing at about 15 inches tall. He was inspired by a trip my husband and I are desperately trying to save up for- Disneyland and the Tim Burton exhibit in October! I wanted something to sit by my sewing machine to keep me motivated and inspire me to keep working towards the trip. I liked the idea of him being a Burton-ish skeleton with Mickey ears dressed like a Haunted Mansion prop. Tim Burton and Walt Disney are two of my biggest heroes, and this trip is a lifelong dream. I LOVE Halloween and it is my favorite time of year- I have wanted to see the Nightmare Haunted Mansion takeover more than anything, and once I found out Tim Burton has an exhibit at the LACMA this year, I knew it had to be now or never. So Beauregard is going to sit by and remind me and keep pushing me towards my goal!

Oh, and then I added the red scarf because my third hero is Meat Loaf...good measure, ya know? And he is named after a tombstone in the Haunted Mansion ride! Cheesy
27  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Doctors are in! Large Doctor 10 and 11 Who Dolls on: August 04, 2011 03:01:16 PM
Hi there! I am just popping in to show you who arrived on my doorstep over the last couple of days! I heard a wooshing sound and ran outside to see the Tardis last night and to my surprise BOTH Doctor's 10 & 11 popped out!  Shocked

You can imagine my shock to not only see the TARDIS, but BOTH Doctors on my doorstep. There seems to have been some sort of tear in the atmosphere, screwing up all that timey-wimey wibbly-wobbly stuff and somehow both Doctors are now here! I don't want to screw up the universe with having them both co-exist so I am sending them on their separate paths through space and time to my BFF's amydice and lanikins. Doctor 11 is going to Amy (because Amy is his companion! Duh!) and Lani will be hosting Doctor 10.

They are made with my same haphazard technique I make everything with- just start cutting and sewing. (I cannot read or follow or make a pattern for the life of me!) They both stand at 18.5 inches. And the 11th has a removable fez as well.

Amy and Lani have seen these pics, but I can't wait until they get to have them in person! Thanks for looking!

28  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Nessie and the Swamp Monster: BFF's! Two Plushes! on: July 29, 2011 06:28:49 AM
Everybody knows that cryptid creatures and horror movie monsters make the best of friends! I made these for my brother and best friend, who coincidentally, also made the best of friends and are now dating.  Cheesy

The Swamp Monster is my bro's:

I was a little hesitant to send him away because I fell in love with him, but they BOTH love him so I was happy.

The Nessie is for Tara, my best friend. She requested that she be purple with green spots, so badda bing, badda boom!:

Just a couple more monsters in Spooky Pooky's world! Thanks for looking!
29  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Matisyahu's New Official Tour Bus Mascot! I.E, a Tiny Plush I made for Him! on: July 26, 2011 04:17:07 PM
So as many of you know, I draw a lot of my inspiration from people and things I love. Well, one of my favorite singers ever is Matiyahu. I find him to be incredibly inspirational and especially uplifting. Whenever I am feeling down, I always turn to his music and he brings me right out of my funk with his positive and moving lyrics.

My husband and I have been lucky enough to see him every summer for the past few years, but this year I knew I wanted to give him a gift. I knew it had to be small so I could carry it into the concert and so that it wouldn't be a pain for him to have to take, so I knew I had to make one of my tiny plushes for him. I turned to one of my favorite videos of him and voila! Matisyahu in "One Day."

It is just over 3 inches- you can see how big he is in this silly picture I took before leaving for the concert. for size reference:

Luckily, Matis is such an amazing person he did a free show before the actual concert at a store downtown so my husband and I got there early to get right in front. At the end of the show I was able to walk right up and hand it to him! He thanked me, held it up to show the crowd, and announced that it was going on the front of his tour bus to everybody!

You can actually see me giving it him at the end of this video and barely hear him making his announcement!

It was an amazing night! The free show was brilliant, the concert was a blast, and meeting one of my heroes up close and personal and having him thank me for my art and show everyone was an experience I will never forget!

Thanks for looking!
30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / I, Cthulhu, am a Tiny 3 Inch Steampunk Plush, Now! on: July 15, 2011 11:17:47 PM

I was in the One Tiny Stuffie Swap again, this time with AlmostDawn as my partner. In her survey she said she wanted anything to do with:

"cryptids, sea creatures/monsters, anything a little unusual, steampunk, Neil Gaiman inspired." She also said she loves anything with a top hat and a mustache.

Sooooo...I kind of took that to heart and tried to incorporate all those things and came up with a Steampunk Cthulhu (cryptid/sea creature/monster aspect) and gave him his own book which is his biography, "I, Cthulhu," originally written by Neil Gaiman.

He is only 3 inches tall!

And here he is hanging out with the doctor. Because we all know, if anybody was going to meet up with Chtulhu, it would be the Doctor.  Wink

He was hard to part with, but she loved him! So I am pleased!
