help, please!
i'm about to start the thumb gusset and i'm stuck.

i got to round one, needle 3: purl 2, knit 1, place marker, make one increase, place marker, continue in pattern

then, round 2, needle 3: slip marker, make one, knit one, make one, slip marker, continue in pattern.

how does that work?  what happened to the first three stitches from round 1, before i placed the marker?
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / good crochet books? "cozy crochet"? on: September 12, 2004 10:21:36 PM
i'm a knitter, but venturing into crochet because there are so many cute projects i want to try!
does anyone have any recommendations for crochet books with non-cheesy projects?

i pre-ordered "cozy crochet" [url]http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/servlet/at/go(bookRecord,0811840794)[/url, with designs by melissa leapman who also wrote "knitting pretty".  anyone hear/know anything about it? is it worth it?

BONUS! if you look up "knitting pretty" on the chronicle books site and click on excerpts, there are links to 3 or 4 knitting projects!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / rowan big wool projects-- yarn sub? on: September 11, 2004 09:56:47 AM
i have fallen desparately in love with the stuff in rowan's new patter books. (this one: http://theknittinggarden.com/ro-magbigbigger.htm and this one: http://theknittinggarden.com/ro-magnextbigthing.htm.

anyone know if any comparable yarns that are not as expensive?  (these are like $14-15/ball, with 5-9 balls/project. WAH!! Cry )

i'm looking for a knitted blanket pattern too! are there any sites out there that tell you how many yards of yarn are needed to make a blanket of certain dimensions?

i'm going to take a trip to japan this summer and i'm trying to do some research before i go. anyone know of any good yarn stores/brands to look out for? i know they have oodles of great stuff that we don't have here, but the only that we see is noro yarn.

i just read an article in a knitting mag (don't remember which one) and took some notes. i'm so excited!
