1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Felt Name Book for my niece on: December 17, 2016 02:35:36 PM
Aside from dabbling a little bit with cross stitch a few years back, I haven't done a lot of needle work. But after seeing so many awesome name books here on Craftster, I decided to jump in with both feet and make a name book for my niece for christmas this year.

I owe a lot of ideas and inspiration to a number of posts on this site, including but not limited too:

My niece's bedroom is all underwater theme, so I decided to make each letter represented by an sea animal! This was maybe not the best approach, as I had to use a few more obscure animals then would maybe be recommended for a 2 year old... Ah well, if anyone has any better ideas of a sea animal that starts with the letter I, I'm all ears.

Anyway here is my completed name book for my niece, Samia Mae!

I hid a couple more clown fish under the anemones tentacles to make it more interactive

Yeah okay this one might be a stretch. For those of your who don't know, Irukandji is one of the most toxic jellyfish in the world! Also one of very few sea animals beginning with the letter I! I used some fun stretchy shiney stuff for the tentacles and some cute fish buttons to make up for the obscurity.

Couldn't find any iridescent fabric for the shell, so I used some tye-dyed felt instead.

After I binded (bound?) all the pages together, I decided to use another piece of felt to make a spine. I think it makes it look a bit cleaner.

Thanks for looking! This was a really fun project, maybe I'll make another one someday! (if my sister decided to have anymore kids!)
