1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Juno & Paulie Bleeker on: November 08, 2008 05:58:59 AM
Thanks for all the praise! Wouldn't it be cool if we won this challenge? It'd be cool if, just this once, the person who won wasn't the one who spent a million dollars and a million hours on their challenge entry! I'm really, really proud of what we created on a time (and money) budget. Smiley
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Juno & Paulie Bleeker on: November 03, 2008 07:39:07 PM
We decided to be Juno and Paulie Bleeker for Hallowe'en, because JUNO was such a great movie. It ended up being a ton of work!

My partner got a wig, then cut and styled it to look like Juno's hair. We then masked a white tee with painter's tape and spray-painted the orange stripes on, because we couldn't find the right shirt anywhere.

Here's US in the movie poster (special thanks to my father in law, Bill!)

And for comparison, Here's a reference shot, the original movie poster:

For my Bleeker sweatshirt, I used an iron-on transfer to create the logo. Shorts were purchased after a great deal of searching. The headband and wristbands were a helluva lotta work! We made them from felt, but they didn't look good cuz they weren't fuzzy, so we put leftover felt through the coffee grinder until it made fuzz, then meticulously glued it all over the bands. Totally worked out!

Here's another original reference shot (this is the scene we based our actual outfits off of (except Juno went with the striped shirt cuz it was more recognizable):

And here we are!

New info I forgot to mention: we also sewed Juno's belly especially, using an old tee and stuffing, to get the shape perfect. My "Juno" wore her costume all Hallowe'en day, doing errands, and people kept thinking she is actually pregnant! She got some dirty looks cuz she's a smoker, too!  Undecided

And for fun, a shot of "Juno" and "Bleeker" (us again) playing our guitars.

Don't forget to vote!!!
