1  Grey pleated neck dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: September 12, 2009 01:37:56 PM
Hey all. Smiley Ever since I saw this photo of the French president's wife a few months ago, I have been dying to make a similar dress. So, last weekend, I threw one together out of a wonderful wool suiting I found:

Here it is on me:

(The belt isn't attached, I just added it because I like it.)

What do you guys think?

2  Square necked summer dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: June 29, 2009 09:28:47 AM
Hi guys. Smiley I made this on a whim on Saturday night without any planning, really. I just happened to have the fabric lying around and wanted to make something new.

I wore it yesterday out in the sun and it was great! The only problem is that I now have a sunburn in the shape of a square on my chest. Oh well.  Tongue

3  Tulip dress(es) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: May 29, 2009 11:57:53 AM
Hey all. Smiley I made this dress for myself for a friend's wedding that's coming up in a couple of weeks. No pics of it on me yet, but I'll take some soon!

I'm also in the process of making a magenta one, but it's not done yet:

4  Grassy tulip skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: May 08, 2009 11:34:26 AM
Hey guys, long time no post. Wink

I finished this skirt last night. The fabric is a linen (possibly linen blend?) that I got from a craft fair.

That's all! Hope you like it.

5  Red rose coat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: February 05, 2009 01:26:45 PM
Hey guys, I'm back again. Wink I actually finished this coat in December, but haven't had time to take photos of it and post them online until now. It was made from a frankenpattern, and the outer fabric is a 100% wool melton that I looooove.

The lining is a 100% cotton print I got on sale:

I made each of the 50-60 roses by hand. This part took up the largest single chunk of time in doing the coat. Otherwise, it was pretty easy. Just labor intensive with the roses and all. Wink

It's far from perfect, but I like it. Hope you enjoy!

6  Butterick B4789 twist-front dress in Sewing Pattern Reviews by ejacqui on: January 26, 2009 07:22:17 PM

I made this dress twice (as you can see), one in a black bamboo jersey and another in a red rayon jersey. I love it, and everyone compliments the dresses regularly. They're very flattering and VERY easy to make. Like, ridiculously easy, IMO.

The one thing I'll say about this pattern is that, even when you cut it to your proportions according to the envelope, it ends up being rather large after sewing. Both times, I ended up taking it in on the sides fairly significantly, like 2 to 3 inches on both sides, but your mileage will most definitely vary. Just be aware of that!

Otherwise, I love the pattern and recommend it to everyone, especially the curvaceous among us. I'm a size 14/16 in off-the-rack sizes and a 20 or so in most sewing pattern sizes, and it really is flattering and totally awesome.  Tongue

7  Green houndstooth coat in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by ejacqui on: October 10, 2008 04:17:34 PM
Hey guys! This is my first post here, although I've been lurking for quite a while. This is my first completed coat and I'm so proud of it, I thought I'd show it off. I got the fabric from eBay for super cheap, but it's a poly/cotton weave and the perfect weight for a coat. I love it.

I used a grape-colored lining on the inside.

Here it is actually on me:
