51  Re: Yarns, the good and the bad in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by smrfchic on: December 07, 2005 11:42:43 AM
Heh heh, can I be a dissenting opinion?  I made my little boy a sweater out of the powder blue Baby Homespun and I looooooove it.  It was very easy to crochet with, is incredibly warm, and I love that I was able to make him a sweater that looks like it should actually be on a baby and not a teenager!

Here's my version, Smiley

The red part actually has tiny cream stars, and the green is sort of a marblized print. Smiley

oh dear god & goddess that is adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah thanks!! Smiley

I wasn't quite happy with yesterdays... it seemed a bit *too* skimpy, so I created a new pattern.  I like this one so much more!! And it's made with Cottontot by Bernat, which is sooooooo darn soft. This one also has the apron extending around the back. Smiley

54  Re: M&M Tube Challenge Gallery in The Swap Gallery by smrfchic on: February 08, 2005 06:16:58 PM
I got my mega-tube yesterday filled with great goodies from smrfchic.  I got two bracelets, a pair of pink beaded earings, a super cute crocheted flower and a bunch of buttons (I love buttons.)  Thanks smrfchic!  She also decorated my tube with semi-scandalous pictures of 50's ladies.

Smiley I hope you liked everything!  Did the two little beads make it too, or did my children somehow get ahold of the tube behind my back??

My tube from ctgirl arrived today! Smiley

Here are the goodies she sent me:

Cell phone cozy, a necklace & a bracelet in thier own little special pouches (tooooo cute!), a felted red heart pin, a pretty blue pin w/ a white button, and 6 little Valentine-y marble magnets. Love it all, Smiley

55  Toddler Halter Top in Crochet: Completed Projects by smrfchic on: February 08, 2005 05:31:32 PM
I couldn't find a pattern I liked, so I made my own...  I didn't have enough yarn to make it quiet long enough - I would have added another 2 rows or so to the bottom if I hadn't run out.

Toddler Halter Top

Materials:
Red Heart's Monet
Size I/9- 5.50 MM Crochet hook
Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)

Abbreviations:
chain (ch)
single crochet (sc)
double crochet (dc)

Boobie Triangles:
Begin by ch 3. In the last chain from the hook, 2 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Work 2 dc in last dc of previous row, 1 ch, work (3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc) in ch 1 space, ch 1, 3dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Work 2 dc in last dc of previous row, 1 ch, 3 dc in 1 ch space, 1 ch, work (3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc) in ch 1 space, 1 ch, 3 dc in 1 ch space, 3 dc in last dc.  Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Continue as established in last row. Finish off.

Make TWO Boobie Triangles.

Begin by ch 50. Sc in bottom corner of one of the boobie triangles. sc in every available stitch across, doing 2 sc in the center hole of each. Overlap the two boobie trianglesby one stitch in the middle.  When you reach the end of the 2nd boobie triangle, ch 50.  Finish off.

Ch 50 at the top of each boobie triangle (join in the ch1 at the top).

For the "apron" part:
Starting at one end of the boobie triangles, join in one of the sc's - chain 4, skip a sc, sc in the next sc. Repeat across. Ch 6, turn, sc in the last loop you made. Ch 4, sc in the next loop, repeat across. Ch 6, turn, repeat as before.  Make 10-15 rows, or to desired length.

Please post pictures if you try this out ~ it's my first attempt at creating my own design AND my first attempt at writing a pattern.

56  Re: I will be your friend forever if you can guess what I am... in Halloween Costumes by smrfchic on: December 27, 2004 10:58:28 AM
My son was Draco fo Halloween, LOL.  I made his cape and had a friend embroider a Slytherin patch that I appliqued to it.  Also made his hat, and then thrift shopped for the sweater & tie.

57  Re: Frosted glass -- How to make your own frosted glassware! in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by smrfchic on: December 21, 2004 04:28:20 PM
Oooh, just wanted to add my thanks for a great tutorial and a fantastic gift idea for my in-laws that are the "have everything they want and can buy whatever they want" type.

They are wine snobs, er, buffs... so here is a set of wine glasses I made for them.  They read: "The Wino" (FIL's nickname), "Carpe Diem", "Fortis" (two of MILs favorite phrases/words), and "Poverty Sucks" (FIL has an old poster that says that).
