1  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: Simplicity 3503 Knit dress on: May 15, 2009 10:30:40 AM
I just made this same dress out of some really soft jade jersey. I wish I had known that the pattern would come out so large...I cut a 14 and had to take the waist in a ton. I have a gray jersey sheet I just got at the thrift store that's going to a second version of this dress, though, so now I know what I need to change.

Yours is beautiful!

Pretty dress.

But really, we need to talk about this "periodic table quilt," because I've never heard anything quite so incredible in my life. If I had one of these, I could die happy (also warm and more knowledgeable). Pics please (assuming it's finished).

I like it without the straps. Smiley

Cool dress! Very well made.

The "skirt thing" is called a peplum, by the way.
5  UNITED STATES / Massachusetts / Re: Fav Fabric Stores in Boston's Chinatown? on: February 06, 2009 09:31:08 AM
Winmill is definitely fabulous. I'm new to Boston (in my freshman year of college) and I was really worried I wouldn't be able to find any great places to get fabric. I searched around on the internet and heard great things about Winmill, and it's all true! There's a great selection and the staff is wonderful. You should DEFINITELY go.

Christ! Where the hell are you that you get weather like that in January? Stupid Boston...

Anyway, pretty dress!

You always make the coolest stuff. I'm so jealous! It's making me incredibly homesick. Stupid college...making me miss my sewing machine....

I know I personally love finding things in stores that look exactly like things I've made in the past and then laughing at how expensive they are! Well, I was perusing the internet (oh StumbleUpon, you bring me such joy...) and I found this!

I personally think yours is much cuter, and certainly didn't cost $110!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: highrise jean shorts (my first foray into the world of denim) on: September 21, 2008 12:16:28 PM
Very cute! I've always wanted to wear high-waisted shorts with heels, but my legs don't look like that at all so I can't pull it off. Also, those shoes are amazing and I have to have them.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Sewing a Skirt on a Machine the Size of My Foot... on: September 02, 2008 10:16:40 AM
Target sells $20 sewing machines??!?!?! That's perhaps the best news I've heard in a while! I'm leaving for college tomorrow and I can't take my machine (WAAAAHHH). BUT they ship the freshman to Taget on a bus one night...I CAN STILL SEW!

Cute skirt, btw. Smiley
