1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Looking for advice for my first project- a FLASH TATTOO on: January 28, 2013 05:51:05 PM
Hey all,
I want to make this for my boyfriend for valentines day because he wanted to get something like this tattooed. I told him he should get something less menacing and he got a nice gypsy so I thought I would surprise him with an embroidered hoop. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lvwz1exyow1qa70eyo1_500.jpg

Problem is, I haven't done much stitching. I have done cross stitching but not a whole embroidered project like this would be.

Could someone please offer me some advice on how to blend colours, stitches to use in different locations and the order I should do things. I know it will take a long time for a newbie but I have a lot of patience doing crafts. I've looked at some stitches but i don't know where each belongs. For example, a satin stitch would be nice but how would I work with the lettering? Also not sure it would fit the theme to be over the entire picture.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Coral is DONE!!!! on: February 25, 2009 07:27:09 PM
no no i meant because you decided you didn't go the best way around making it (the material you used) also, i've never done anything like this so i guess i just pictured how much i would have learned if i tried something like this lol.
i really like the detail on the necklace and the back, where the dress is folded
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Funky Baby Quilt on: February 24, 2009 07:31:39 PM
your work is goregous. and it's also nice of you to actually respond to people's questions so... i kind of have a few because i want to start quilting
- what type of material are you sopposed to use?
- i've tried doing the swirls with the dog feeds down but i can't seem to get such a neat effect or one that actually looks good! lol, so how do you manage to do that?
- mostly i want to know how you measure the pieces... like how do you get them to be perfect squares?
thank you!!! Smiley again, it looks amazing; from the colours to the placement of everything. you have a lucky family!
