21  Re: Embroidery Hoopla R3 - OTT Edition Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Sylvanna on: January 08, 2011 03:29:46 AM
I'm so glad you like your Bazinga! hoop sparrowarms...I had so much fun stitching it and watching The Big Bang Theory at the same time Smiley

Over the past couple of days I've received both of my hoops and I loveee both of them!  Smiley Here they are..

Sparrowarms made this absolutely adorable gnome themed hoop...and wow it's tiny!! It's a three inch hoop and is just sooo cute!!

The stitching is so tiny and neat. Here's a close up of the gnome (I'm going to say it again...sooo cute!)

Thank you so much, I love it Smiley

And then this morning I received this gorgeous hoop from Jolyon. I love woodland animals so it's perfect, and the stitching has me in awe...

I'm feeling very inspired to try some new stitches! Here's a close up for a better look at the stitching...

It's beautiful, thank you Smiley

22  Moomin Swap in New Swap Theme Ideas by Sylvanna on: November 27, 2010 01:35:34 AM

So I'm just designing a Moomin related Christmas present for a friend at work and it got me thinking how much fun a Moomin swap could be  Smiley I love, love, love the colours/ designs used in Moomin artwork  Smiley

I've had a quick search and can't see that one has happened before so wondered if there would be any interest?

In case anyone doesn't know - Moomin's are trolls (who strongly resemble adorable white hippos) who live in the forests of Finland and have starred in their own books and cartoons...and are basically completely gorgeous   Cheesy

If there is any interest then I'd be happy to try my hand at organising (probably not until the New year though  Wink)

I've struggled with lighting (stupid short days) but I hope these come out ok...

Here's the whole hoop...

Great use of crayon tinting for the sky Smiley

And here's a close up of the owl and part of the tree...

I love the design of the owl and the tree has been stitched so neatly  Smiley

Now I really need to get my wall of hoops started! Smiley

Oh - and eep! I love that budgie design...oh to be able to stitch like that!

I'm so happy you like everything!! You were a pleasure to craft for  Smiley You took such lovely photos of everything!

I LOVE my package too. I haven't been able to get home from work in time to take photos in the daylight, so I hope these do the items justice....

First item is this gorgeous ring....it's a perfect fit and has been worn every day since Monday when I received the package  Smiley

Next is this lovely bracelet...the beads are so cute...

Then this little cross stitch picture, which I'm going to frame and put up in my office...

Next came a bag clip and three magnets with the most gorgeous gnome artwork in them...

I haven't decided which bag is going to have the clip attached - but the magnets are already up on the message board in my kitchen.

Then came my most favourite thing ever!! A hood and necklace for my Blythe!!

Close up of the necklace....

They match my Blythe sooo perfectly  Cheesy

Thank you again...everything you sent was totally "me" and I love it all  Smiley

So I received the most amazing package from goldsheepbowl this week - and on my birthday- perfect timing!  Cheesy I feel like I got totally spoit and LOVE everything...I don't think I can pick a fav.

The first thing I opened was a fast food container (such a cute idea!) and inside...this sushi necklace...(I love sushi)..

Next thing I came to were these tentacle earrings...so nicely made...

As if that wasn't enough tentacle based jewellery fun, I then got to this necklace...

Which is HUGE and I just love it!! I just need to get enough courage to wear it to work now  Cheesy

Next was this phone case, which my new phone fits in very happily...

I love the material..so fun. So next, I love all things vampire related, so an Octopire brooch is just about the cutest thing ever..

Next was an adorable hoop...the very first addition to my new hoopla wall  Smiley

And then there was more (I know!!)...2 amazing paintings, I haven't decided where these are going yet, but I love them...

Thank you soooo much - everything is perfect!

27  Re: Jar of Whimsies 8 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Sylvanna on: August 30, 2010 10:41:41 AM
I think my swap partner has a lot going on at the moment and I know she received a few weeks ago so I thought I'd post some piccies of the Jar of Whimsies I sent her, hope that's ok.

So from Black.Eyed.Spyder's questionnaire it was clear that she loves the Sailor Jerry tattoo style, so I thought I would theme the jar around this. Here's the actual "jar", which I covered in Sailor Jerry pics...

And then a swallow tattoo coaster which I cross-stitched:

a Sailor Jerry-esque keyring:

And then through chatting we discovered we both have a Pullip collection, so I put together a little outfit for one of her Pullips, including a tiny swallow necklace  Smiley

The last thing I made were some pacman magnets:

I then filled the jar with lots of embellishments, stickers, buttons and bows and some little themed packs based around things my swap partner put on her things I love list (and some random things). I won't post them all but here's the Dino-topia pack:

I also put in some random larger whimsies:

I had sooo much fun thinking of things to do for this swap  Smiley If my partner reads this - I hope things calm down for you soon  Smiley

This has to be one of my favourite swap galleries ever - everyone's whimsy packages are so great!  Smiley

I received a brilliant whimsy stash from Black.Eyed.Spyder. I had so much fun sorting through all of the items. So here goes with the pics...

Here's the jar itself:

And here's all of the whimsies that lurked within  Smiley

First off - some cute Hama bead creatures (owls! I love owls!) which I think I'm going to turn into magnets to bring some more colour to my kitchen:

Some pretty bracelets:

and some lovely origami hearts and cut-out flower and heart shapes:

A brilliant selection of sewing supplies (I love the material so much)..

And then lots of lovely embellishments/ buttons (I love buttons so this was perfect!)

And lastly there were loads of charms (I've recently started jewellery making and I'm going to have loads of fun using these!

Thanks for everything Black.Eyed.Spyder  Smiley

Great items everyone! The Doctor Who clock is brilliant!

So I received an amzing package from schonwiedersamstag - I absolutely LOVE everything...

The first item I uncovered was this Doctor Who bag which is perfect (and has already been used today!). The front has the Tardis drawn on it, and a Bow-Tie pin for the 11th Doctor (because bow ties are cool)...

And the back is just genius - it has my favourite Doctor Who quote written on it...and then a crack sewn in (which links to the quote:

Also related to Doctor Who is this cute bow tie headband:

Next comes an item that is totally going on my desk at work - it's a Barney (from How I Met Your Mother) organiser - complete with photos of Barney being his legendary self and words of wisdom from him (also known as my favourite Barney quotes):

Also linked to How I Met Your Mother is this "Let's go to the Mall" picture frame - so funny  Grin

Next is a Veronica Mars purse (or maybe an organiser for all of my Veronic-esque spy gear)..

I love the newspaper print material used inside...

As if that wasn't enough there was also a Supernatural purse - complete with a Colt charm (so cool):

And a Sex and the City Picture Frame and the cutest shoe earrings..unfortunately I think one earring may have got lost in transit, although I've still obsessively checking for it, just in case Smiley

And last, but not least, a Lost postcard, with a message from my swap partner on the back..

Thank you so much for all my items - it's been so much fun swapping with you  Smiley

30  Embroidered Doctor Who Gallifreyan Bag in Needlework: Completed Projects by Sylvanna on: August 03, 2010 09:46:54 AM
I made this for the TV Addict swap and my partner has messaged me to say she's received it so I guess it's safe to post now  Smiley

I wanted to make a Doctor Who themed bag for my partner and decided that as I'm trying to teach myself how to embroider at the moment I should probably bite the bullet and have a go at my own design. I tried a few different transfer techniques and in the end chose to just draw it straight on (using a compass) and some help from my far more artistically inclined boyfriend!

Here's the bag itself:

And a close up of the stitching (I tried to use a couple of ditterent styles but nothing too adventurous at this stage  Wink )

And here's the fob-watch it's based on - the symbols on the front are from The Doctor's home, Gallifrey:

I learnt that it takes me a lot of concentration to sew neat circles, but I'm pretty please with how it turned out  Smiley

Oh...and hanging from the strap is a little dalek toy (who was not best pleased about being turned into a keyring...apparently it's not being very respectful towards a superior alien race  Wink )

Thanks for looking! Any feedback about my stitching would be welcomed (I'm really enjoying learning at the moment - I'm finding it to be the most rewarding craft I've tried to date)  Smiley
