22  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / hello punk kitty headband on: January 14, 2009 10:31:45 PM
so after spending most of the afternoon getting to 50 wists for a swap I ended up being "too late" to enter (I entered, but didn't have enough wists, so I put more that night but got tired went to bed, and put more this afternoon but it filled up before I added them all) /end rant
afterwards I made a headband. a super cute one at that lol
I ran out of blue so added the purple but I like it that way

close up of the bow. I made two hearts and sewed them together on the headband.

23  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / luma blanket on: January 10, 2009 11:24:15 PM
so I have been working on a scrap ripple blanket for awhile now but it kinda got pushed outside when I 1) ran out of scraps and 2) started making starghans for shriner's. well I started a starghan and ran out of yarn for it. but didn't want to go buy more yarn to finish and so I decided to make my own version of a quillow!

is it a luma?

no it's a blanket!

please excuse my cat's butt in this picture haha

Micah loves it!

and THE funniest picture ever...

and in case you don't know what a Luma is:
24  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / deathbat graph? on: January 10, 2009 03:39:34 PM
so I want to crochet a deathbat (Avenged Sevenfold logo) as part of a messenger bag I am making. I can't find a graph of it and I have no idea how I would even begin to make one. I want the deathbat to look like the real thing but not quite as detailed bc that'd just be too hard.
here's a picture for reference.

anyone have any suggestions for me?
25  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / the start of a starghan... on: January 08, 2009 08:02:46 PM
so as the title suggests I started a starghan but didn't have enough yarn to finish. I don't want to purchase anymore yarn bc I bought a bunch with gift cards I got andone of my new years resolutions is to spend alooot less money. so what can I do with part of a starghan? it is used with some really thick yarn called Jiffy Thick & Quick by Lion Brand Yarn.
here's a pic of what I have so far that notch in the upper left hand corner is where I started and where the blue crochet hook is is where I stopped. obviously I am going to need to undo the rest of that row but from there idk where to go. there's my bf's red 30 gig zune in the corner for size reference.

does anyone have any ideas of what I could do with it?
I am making starghans (and other stuff) to send to the Houston Shriner's Hospital, also I my bf is newly engaged so I need presents for them too just as a suggestion of things it could be used for but I'm really open to everything but ripping the whole thing apart.
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / craft for my bf (husband, girlfriend, wife etc.) swap =D on: January 03, 2009 06:57:41 PM
the bf and I where just talking about him wanting oven mits when I realized that having a swap where we crafted for each other's significant others would be a good idea. while I have no idea how to make oven mits, or stencil a sweet shirt I could certainly whip up a neat beanie and scarf set.
I don't think I have the experience or the time to organize but I sure would loove to participate in a swap like this.
anyone else interested?
27  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Starghans for Shriners on: January 01, 2009 05:59:39 PM
at 14 I had back surgery for severe scoliosis at the Shriner's hospital in Houston Tx. it was all at no cost to my family, and it undoubtedly saved my life. I owe alot to them and therefore have decided to crochet starghans (or just any blankets I feel like crocheting) and sending them to patients at the Houston Shriner's hospital. if anyone else would like to participate in this with me I would love to have your help or even just your words of encouragement.  Cheesy

28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Lucy poops rainbows bag (IMG heavy) on: December 29, 2008 06:20:50 PM
there's a story to my topic headline. you see it all started with a sewing machine that I asked for christmas and I recieved it. I had several crochet projects to finish for swaps and such so I told myself I would not use my brand spanking shiny new sewing machine until I finished my projects. well one of my projects I was finishing was this rainbow bag using leftover yarn from my rainbow scarf (previously posted on craftster). I decided that my first sewing project should be to sew a lining into my new awesome bag. I have previous experience with a vvveeerrryyyy expensive husquvarna sewing machine of my mom's so I know how to use a sewing machine or at least get the basic jist of most things anyways. well I cut out the pieces I'm going to use for the lining of my sewing machine and then get my sewing machine ready. first the bobbin..oh no I forgot to buy bobbins two hours later; after searching the store I work in and then going clear across town to find bobbins at walmart, lo and behold I open a secret compartment and whatdayaknow there's a *&$@ing bobbin. so I go to thread the bobbin put the big spool on the doo hickey etc. flip the thingamajig, press the foot peddle and we have a HUGE mess. thread everywhere all knotted up, I don't think my cat could have made a bigger mess (and he has thumbs  Tongue )
so I end up holding the spool in place (bc my spool is apparantly too big or something and that seems to work. so my bobbin is full and I go to put in the bottom of the machine and I eventually manage that blah blah blah.... then long story shorter I go to sew and it makes two stitches and then gets knotted up. I unknot it and try again..two stitches then gets knotted. I try everything I can think of to no avail. so I VERY frustratingly give up. I decide to name the sewing machine Lucy (short for Lucifer) and that I am going to hand sew the lining. I already cut the pieces I might as well, right. I'm not the greatest hand sewer but I can get things done if need be and so I sat there till like 1 in the morning sewing the darn thing, whipping up a handle and finishing (bc I hate going to bed or doing anything in the middle of a project. I like to finish things or I might just get distracted and then things will never get done.)
and well the fruits of my labor is this adorable bag which I love Cheesy
the front: (I didn't have a big enough button so I used a jingle bell..at least I'll be able to tell if someone is reaching into my purse Tongue )

with the flap up:

the inside: (had to take some stuff out to show you the inside hahaha)

(anyone see a recurring theme here??)

adorable remnant fabric I bought to line the purse:

and the back:

since this post is already huge what's two more pictures...
I made a matching case for my many chap sticks (this doesn't even fit all of them hahaha)

if you read it all, thanks for listening to my rant and if you didn't read it all thanks for looking at my lovely pictures Cheesy
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I AM the pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow Scarf on: December 19, 2008 11:36:18 PM
I made a lovely rainbow scarf inspired by the ones seen here on craftster.
I LOOVE this scarf and I wear it everywhere now Cheesy

the scarf one me:

a picture to show the length:

close up of the clouds:

it's a really long scarf, I found it easier to crochet length-wise bc if I crochet width-wise I tend to get tired of crocheting and make it too short.
now I'm off to go play Mario Galaxy!!!
30  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / heart slouchy hat on: December 02, 2008 12:29:24 PM
I used the Vanna White yarn (left over from another project) but ran out of dark brown yarn so used a little tan on the brim. then decided it needed a little more tan on it so I made this little heart Cheesy
now I want to make a scarf out of those little hearts Cheesy
the awesome thing is this hat matches my new coat almost perfectly  Grin

the little heart  Cheesy

I've been making these kinds of hats like crazy. several people are getting one of these for christmas lol.
