22  Keep Me Cool Swap?? in New Swap Theme Ideas by blushingbluegrass on: May 09, 2011 01:32:16 PM

If any of you remember the Keep Me Warm Swap (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=368364.0) from this last winter, there was some discussion of a Keep Me Cool Swap.

I am thinking of keeping the categories similar (Cool Drink, Cool Drink accessory (crafted) and Summer Accessory (crafted), and the points the same (4pts.)

Whatcha think??

Does your town make awesome jams? Do you live in the home of the Taffy Festival? Would you love to share your town's awesome-ness with a fellow crafter? If so, this swap could be for you!

This swap is designed to pair up partners who are interested in learning about where each other live. It will go something like this: you will send your partner locally made item(s) totaling $10-$15. These should not be items bought at the local Wal-Mart, Target, large chain store. This is your chance to show off things your town does well! Not sure of where to go? Branch out and find something new! Head to Farmer's Markets or craft shows, even check etsy for local sellers. There are tons of ways to find locally handmade items!

Additionally, you will make one medium crafted item inspired by your PARTNER's locale. This could involve the town's symbol, favorite past time, largest festival, etc. Do your research! Even the smallest towns generally have a website or wiki page. You can even ask your partner for help! Examples could be a handbound book of regional recipes, wall art with the town's flower, or an embroidered hoop with a quote from a hometown hero. Be creative!

Aww so happy you liked everything! I will say that messaging your hubby was super awkward ("Hi, you don't know me, but....") and for days after I kept re-checking the message to make sure that I had told him it was a secret  Tongue

Note to self: work on packaging skills, as those baggies are super wrinkly now! Sorry bout that!

Are you ready for this awesomeness??

I received yesterday as well, and since my birthday was Thursday it was like a birthday present!!

My stalker got me so well, and made things that I absolutely love, and are so thoughtful!

First up, she found out that I love lounging in my hammock with an adult beverage by the fireplace in our backyard so these first two items are perfect!

Adult beverage cozies, modeled by my Falls City glass

Fire starters (soooo smart!!)

This is based off a dish scrubby on my wist, but it is too cute for dishes!

Straight off my wish list: crocheted (maybe?) slippers! LOVE LOVE LOVE

And last but so not least, is a piece of wall art straight from my wist:

The pics aren't the best but is supposed to rain for the next week, so I wanted to get them up now!

You might be asking who sent this amazing package.... It was none other than the FANTASTIC sugaree!! Thanks so much for everything. I loved it all!

I am joining the awesome knit party!

Here is the pillow I received from DustyChica. It is based off a jersey one that I had on my wist. Thanks again! It is the perfect size to go in my hammock!

DustyChica received my package, but has been swamped with school and such, so I thought I would post the pics I took. They aren't the best.

I decided to make DustyChica a bag she could use in college, like the one I was always searching for: big enough to hold books, papers, a change of clothes and maybe a make-up bag. She mentioned her love for Harry Potter and this bag came out of that.

I hope it is loved in its new home!

A shot of the interior...

Inspired by all the YUMMY local coffees that were swapped in the Keep Me Warm Swap I thought maybe a swap where we sent items found locally (candy, coffee, etc.) plus crafts based on the locale of our partners (a recipe book with favorite local foods, items with local symbols, and anything else we can think of!)

Any interest?
