1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Help me decorate the ugliest room in history! on: March 21, 2011 07:37:34 AM
So I just moved into an old house built in 1799. Its the coolest place with history in every corner, but the previous owner of the house deserves some serious punishment for lack of taste (I kid I kid, but seriously it's heinous)!

I'll post pictures today when I get home form work, but I'll explain it for now. Its a very small room- big enough for only like a twin bed and a nightstand... which is exactly what I want to do with it. I'm currently renting the house, and the landlord gave me free range to decorate/renovate how I want- HOWEVER, I will not be reimbursed for any of my work so I REALLY don't want to spend a lot of money.

The room has this hideous red white and blue wall paper, but the room had some serious water damage so half of the drywall and wallpaper is ripping off. Then, it has this blue (and I mean like royal blue) wall-to-wall carpet that is just... gross.

If anyone has any ideas of something I can like staple to the whole wall to cover up the wallpaper/water damage, or something to cover up the rug ANY ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!  Grin
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / My First Two Diaper Cakes on: March 16, 2011 10:26:01 AM
I know, I know... you're probably all sick of these. But being a 23 year old I'm at "the age" when I seem to get more baby shower invites then bills (to be decided which is more expensive later). Someone suggested I make one of these and I thought they were just so cute!

The above is my first one!

And this one is for this upcoming Sunday!

Just thought I'd share! I'm a huge lurker and decided to finally contribute, you all are brilliant however!

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / string teardrop earing help! on: August 20, 2008 12:22:47 PM
so a friend on mine bought me these earrings and i just fell in love! and i was checking them out and thought, "i could probably make these!" so i went to a million craft stores and couldn't find the coiled wire that i needed... then i looked online and tried to see if there was some sort of tutorial... nothing. so i was just curious if anyone had any insight (or a tutorial!) on how to make them. the part i most confused about is not wrapping the string but how to finish them.

sorry for the poor picture quality! any help would really be appreciated! Smiley
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / patchwork side table on: August 15, 2008 09:56:51 AM
hey guys! ive been snooping around for months but this is my first post! my mom gave me this little side table when i got my first apartment... its a great little side table but it just looked so boring. i bought the scrap book paper on sale at target for just $5 (leaving me with tons of leftovers for other projects!) and just modpodged the whole thing!

i forgot to take a before pic until halfway through my project:

and this is the finished!!!:

im pretty happy with it. some of the modpodge came out bumpy and i think i want to pain the rest of the table... but my fear is if i paint it it's going to look like a little kids table (not that it already doesnt Cheesy)! thoughts? thanks for looking!
