1  My Prom Dress! :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Caddylolz on: January 10, 2010 09:16:49 AM
My school was having a small prom and I was nominated for Prom Queen. (I didn't win though; no worries)
I wanted to make my own dress because I knew most girls would be buying them from the few dressy shops in Barbados (where I live).
My mom had just bought a Lutterloh Golden Rule Clothing Pattern kit, and using my measurements, we used them to make my dress!
It's technically a top, a skirt and a petticoat that has the can can material on it. It's made of polyester, and the pink and black waist part is actually one of my mom's work scarves! (It was pinned on)
Please excuse my facial expression, but i hope you like my dress! (The top is a little poofy in the pictures, but once it's pulled down, it's smoother)

I was originally going to decorate it with silver sequins and fabric paint, but I'm really happy with the results. I'll be sure to break it out to wear it somewhere again! Thanks a lot to my mom who helped so much with it Smiley

2  My Plain White T's hoodie and plaid skirt! [IMAGE FAT!] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Caddylolz on: August 08, 2009 10:02:32 AM
You can probably tell by now, that I love the Plain White T's.
I was browsing through their merchandise on their website, but sadly they don't ship to the Caribbean.
Also, I'm going to Panama with my school Foreign Language Club in a few days, and apparently we will all be wearing matching blue polo-shirts. Therefore, I knew I would have to do something before I totally blended in with everybody else.
Therefore, I made my own hoodie!

I used Mezzi's tutorial, then modified it as I went along.
It was a plain white t-shirt (XD) that I cut the sleeves off of, then attached the new black ones.
I then used freezer paper stencils that I cut out by hand to do the words and an iron on for the picture of the band. I was so scared that I did something wrong, but it came out beautifully! Oh, and cutting out all the little letters was HELL! I had used the font CoolVetica, but I don't know if you can tell...

It's the quotes to "Big Bad World".
"It's a big bad world, we're doing what we can,
Sometimes we fall on our face before we even learn to stand.
But we get back up, shake off all the dust
and take it step by step."

It's not crooked, just how the picture is taken Smiley

The hood is lined with the same plaid as the skirt.
Sorry if you can't see the skirt properly, but it's pleated with an elastic waistband.
I had been looking for that plaid for ages, then the cloth store imported a whole set of it, so I went mad and bought nearly 4 yards of it! (Sadly it did damage to my wallet, at $10.95 per yard-That's like $6 US i think) I've been using so much plaid in everything that my friends are now calling me Scottish Scotty Smiley

ignore the listerine bottle please Smiley

I had some help from my dad with attaching the zipper because it kept sliding out of place whenever I went to sew it.

So anyways, please comment and tell me what you think!

3  Hanging Paintbrush Case from old T shirt in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Caddylolz on: July 27, 2009 07:40:54 AM
I made this yesterday for a contest on Threadbanger. You have to make a recon of a T shirt.
Well, I have tons of paintbrushes hanging around, and this shirt never fit me right and was a tad bit see through for my liking, so I made this!

It was pretty easy to make, though i made a few mistakes Lips sealed
How do you like it? Sorry it's on a side.

4  My ripped up Plaid shirt :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Caddylolz on: July 26, 2009 11:28:51 AM
Well, I had this new black shirt just knocking around (it was for some project that I eventually abandoned). Then I found this plaid cloth that I had been looking for for years, ever since I was ten and I outgrew my plaid skirt.
I sewed on a rectangle of it on the inside of the shirt and then, using a scissors, ripped up the front. It didn't come out like how I wanted, but still pretty cool.

5  My denim Capris :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Caddylolz on: July 24, 2009 02:02:53 PM
I wasn't going to bother putting this up, but after seeing Ignitetheairwaves's, I decided that I might as well show mine off Tongue
It was this pair of pencil bottoms that never had fit right, and the legs were *shooting* (that's Barbadian/Bajan terms for "too short and show a lot of leg"), and I needed a pair of bottoms to wear to a picnic.
It's a horrible picture of me, but basically shows how the capris looks. Sorry, no before pictures.
I added the bleach spots after the pictures were taken Tongue

My butt really isn't that big, and I'm in the yellow shirt.

Some monkeys we saw in the park. In Barbados, you find them almost everywhere. Just thought that you other Craftsters would like to see Smiley

6  Denim vest made from pair of old jeans...one year later in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Caddylolz on: July 14, 2009 01:29:14 PM
I used my_butterfly's tutorial, but I changed it so that it would work for me. I made this last August, and am now only putting it up (Shameful I know)
I had a pair of nice bootcut fadey jeans, and they got a bit too tight. Therefore, I made myself a waistcoat/vest with it!

I cheated, and put velcro, but the buttons make it look like they work. Smart, huh? Wink
Please tell me what you think? Smiley

8  My awesome Twilight bag! (still drying all like now! :P) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Caddylolz on: May 29, 2009 12:49:08 PM
This is my third post.
Well I woke up last week Friday late (I had no exams that day) and I said to myself, "Carla, you need a Twilight bag!"
And voila!

The black is corduroy, and the lining is this really nice plaid I found at the cloth store. Theres an inside pocket, but Im not sure if you can see it in the picture.

I was planning on sewing it, but after a few broken needles, and a hurt thumb and pinkie, I changed to using Magna-Tac. This really strong glue that works on everything, including your fingers! Tongue
Im really proud of it, and am planning on taking it out tonight.
What do you think?

9  My Awesome Beanie! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Caddylolz on: April 13, 2009 09:54:52 AM
This is my second post! Grin
Well I really like beanies, so I started to crochet my own. I didn't use a pattern; I sorta thought it up as I went along.
It took me roughly about 3 days (with alot of in between ones--thanks to school Angry) to make and I'm super proud of it. It came out just like how I wanted Smiley
Excuse the picture and the terrible smile, but I just have to show it off ha ha.

Sorry for the horrible *censorship* but you know how people are stealing pictures of faces and editing them in terrible ways  Sad Angry Hope you can still see my hat!

10  Crochet Doll for My Grandma's Bday! (:First Post: YAY!) =] in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Caddylolz on: January 01, 2009 03:08:15 PM
I'm a longtime lurker on Craftster. All the projects on here are fabolous! (grr- can't spell that word ever)
I live in Barbados, an island in the Caribbean and my mom's "mother" (she's actually just a really close friend that's like family) came to visit from New York in August. I last saw her when I was 6, and now I'm 15.
So of course I was super happy to see her and her birthday was going to be down here. So I wanted to make her a super cool birthday present. She knits and I crocheted (Now that I thik of it, she could have thought me! =/)

Please excuse the bad pictures, the sun was really bright in the room and my camera didn't take to that.

It's a little doll!
I made it out of some white wool and he has a little hat from yellow wool. I attempted a pashmina/scarf and that's yellow too.I made him some little socks/shoes as well, but they sadly kept coming off so i scrapped that.
So I got some buttons and made him some eyes, a belly button and a mouth.
And I thought he was a little plain, so I strung him a little rainbow belt from some new beads I had hanging around.
 haha! Cute, isn't he?

He's now in Pulaski, New York somewhere, with my grandma. She absolutely loved him!

I'm a beginner and this is the first toy that I made. What do you think?
Thanks! Smiley
