21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / 3 finished quilts. on: January 08, 2009 05:21:57 PM
These are not part of my "20 quilts by December 2009" project. just some UFO's that are now FO's.

The first is a qilt given to me by my DH's grandma. It was hand-quilted halfway and didnt have any binding. I finished quilting it by machine and added binding. everything else was made by his grandma.

The second was a baby gift for some friends of ours who just had a baby.

this one is one of the first quilt tops I ever attempted (about 3 years ago). i finally finished it today

what do you think?
22  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / the ethics of seling pre-worn items? on: December 27, 2008 08:31:37 PM
I have a handmade skirt that I wore once and will never wear again. Would it be a bad thing to sell it? If i do sell it, should I do so at a discounted price. I wore it for a total of 5 hours.....how much of  a discount should I give??
23  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / RIP Bettie Page swap? on: December 12, 2008 12:40:44 PM

I dont know if we have had a swap themed around her before, but would anyone like to do one?
24  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / HELP!! 20 quilts by December 2009! on: November 18, 2008 01:21:04 PM
I am making everyone quilts for Christmas next year. I decided on a log cabin quilt for everyone. But I am stumped on a couple things:

1.should I make all the quilts in one size, or make varying sizes depending on the size of the person's bed?
2. should I cut out the pieces one quilt at a time? or group them all together?
3. Would it make sense to cut the fabric yardage into sections in order to have that particular fabric available in different sizes?
4. What about actually quilting them? I am using a machine to quilt but whats the best process?

I wanted to do these as quickly as possible, but I have a feeling they will wind up being done at the last minute and squeezed in between my other projects....has anyone had to make  alot of quilts all at once before?
25  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / pinup vampire on: November 01, 2008 06:33:19 PM
I made this costume for halloween this year. I have been watching waay too much of true blood.  Everyone loved the costume,  it was a big hit at the office. I couldnt wear it all day though, the corset came off and was replaced by a tshirt after lunch.

showing off the cape that I made without a pattern...

the whole outfit

I spent a month planning and sewing the outfit. I loved it, I even had teens coming up to me in walmart and telling me how cool I looked.....*sigh* you will never know true validation until you hear someone tell you :"you rock!"
26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / (SWAP SPOILER!!! DONT LOOK GRANNIESANNIE!!!)Zombie Santa and his bag of DEATH on: October 25, 2008 11:08:45 AM
This is for my partner in the quirky Christmas swap. She asked for a unusual santa, and  I brainstormed a few ideas before thinking of this. Finally I decided to make a zombie santa...and instead of presents.....his bag is full of death.....

back with bag o' death

it is just a wooden santa found at a thrift shop that I painted.
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Furst corset, black vinyl on: October 25, 2008 11:03:09 AM
This is my very first corset I made a lot of mistakes but all in all, I think it turned out great. It is black vinyl I found at hobby lobby with this great embossed floral pattern. The only thing I wish I could change is that I put in too many eyelets and some fell out.

28  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / alone for the holidays/make a friend christmas swap? on: October 19, 2008 05:59:57 PM
I couldnt organize but I would love to see a swap for those of us who will be by ourselves on christmas/ hanukah, etc. Wether you are single and living away from family, at school, or have a deployed spouse.....anyone who will be by themselves on the holidays would be welcome, and it would be a good way to make new friends. What do you all think?
29  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / The Finished those unfinished crafts! challenege on: October 18, 2008 09:26:14 PM
I am sure we all have something lurking in our project areas that has not been touched in years. It could be something we didnt want or something we forgot about. This challenege would be to take one of those items (prefferably the oldest) and finish it. Then display it with a little backstory on what it originally was, why you started it, etc.

so what do you think?
30  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Dorothy (from the wizard of oz) burlesque outfit (img heavy) on: October 15, 2008 09:15:42 AM
I made this from an old blue gingham bedskirt I never used and two identical nighties I got at my lingerie shower that werent really my style. I like burlesque and I am gonna suprise my DH on his birthday. This took about a week to plan and make.

The Top:

back of the top with eyelet hooks

front of the skirt (it has eyelet tape and closes corset-style on the side)

back of the skirt

closeup of lace on the back

crappy pic of the whole outfit
