Challenge: house pride
House: Slytherin
SPEW: skirt for medical mission to Marshall Islands
Project: green skirt

Challenge: house unity
House: Slytherin
Project: spring flower pens to cheer up those long hours of homework. What a nice thing to unify the houses: a bouquet of flower pens to share around.

Challenge: headmistress challenge: May
House: Slytherin
Project: lots and lots of dinosaur shirts. These were screen printed by hand by me and they took more than three hours and are multiples of the same item

Challenge: February detention
House: Slytherin
Project: pop art valentine card

(The bottom left one)

Challenge: March detention
House: Slytherin
Project: squidbear drawing
My drawing skill is constantly a work in progress and I am constantly challenging myself to solve new problems with drawing and this squidbear is a part of that process

Challenge: April detention
House: Slytherin
Project: horse costume
This fits the assignment because... Well it's a long story... But basically I was coerced into making this horse costume by a person that came up to me at work and asked for help and somehow her asking for my advice turned into to me making it for her??? I have no idea how I let that happen, but I found myself with a bag full of fleece and the directive to make a horse costume for a three year old out of it somehow. Oh and it had to be done by the end of the next day. I definitely felt clowned by this challenge lol. Anyway, after the idea of using a hooded towel tutorial as a spring board came to me in my sleep I was able to come up with this costume in time:

In the end I was pretty proud of what I was able to come up with on the fly like that but I really need to learn to say "no" sometimes.

Class: history of magic
House: Slytherin
Project: flower drawing
Drawing is something that I have been doing since I was a very young child. Whenever I get stuck in my art or I need new inspiration I always get back to my roots with basic drawing and find myself again there.

Class: potions
House: Slytherin
Project: abstract valentine card
To have the instinct to creat abstract art you can't be afraid to let the absurd come out of your pen.

This is for the one on the bottom right.

Class: study of ancient runes
House: Slytherin
Project: band patches. My rock band is something that I feel like I was born to do and these patches are for the purpose of giving to people who like my music in order to spread the word. I screen printed and designed them myself.

Class: transfiguration
House: Slytherin
Project: Dip dyed pots
These are perfect to celebrate spring with the soft cheery color that the fabric dye creates on the pot. ( this is for the pot only not the flower pens)

Class: Charms
House: Slytherin
Project: my first screen printed shirt
This one shirt fits the prompt because it was the end result of a four week screen printing class where I learned how to take my original illustration from a page in my sketch book to a screen printed product

Class: defense against the dark arts
House: Slytherin
Project: fish cake. At my job I make people awake and aware of new crafting techniques. This fish cake is something I made in that process. I have taught several kids how to decorate this fish cake.

Here are some made by some of the kids I taught:

Class: divination
House: Slytherin
Project: Mendhi cookies
These cookies are another teaching demonstration I did for work they fit the class because they use repeated geometric patterns to create the henna tattoo like designs. Also I find it physically comforting and zen like to decorate cookies.

Class: Flying
House: Slytherin
Project: painting with a fiber element. The broom plant is very fibrous so I used that as an inspiration to add a fiber aspect to one of my paintings my sewing and weaving right onto the paper

Class: alchemy
House: Slytherin
Project: for this project I made a hand illustrated greeting card for an art market because for a long time I had given up on street markets and this was me giving myself a new chance at participating in them.

Note: this prompt is for the one on the top the other two will be turned in for other classes.

Class: apparition
House: Slytherin
SPEW: made for a medical mission to The Marshall Islands
Project: skirt for doctor to wear and then leave for one of the local people to have.
My cousin is a doctor and she went to the Marshall Islands on a humanitarian mission to treat and track various health problems experienced by the Marshallese people due to lasting effects from atomic testing done there in the past by the United States. She had me make her several skirts to wear and then leave for the local people she worked with. This blue one was the first one and it had to be fixed a few times until I got it right.

Class: Astronomy
House: Slytherin
Project: pink pin-tucked star skirt
I just had to have this awesome pink pin-tucked fabric when I saw it in the clearance section. I really enjoy this skirt I made with it and it fits the prompt because of the three appliqud stars.

Class: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Slytherin
Project: Keroppi Skirt
I only had one yard of this fabric so I had to make sure what I made with it fit into that one yard. I'm a bigger girl so the skirt I made definitely filled the space of that one yard of fabric.

So excited to be starting a new term. I love all of the class prompts so much this time. They represent such a potential for personal growth! I don't want to miss any of them, so I already have some homework to turn in.

Class/challenge: Arithmancy
House: Slytherin
Project: fingerless gloves

This project fits the prompt because there are two of them. And because they match the dress in the picture they create balance and harmony in the ensemble.

Class/challenge: herbology
House: Slytherin
Project: groundhog's day illustration

This fits the class because I have never drawn a groundhog before.

Class/challenge: muggle studies
House: Slytherin
Project: plus size rockstar dress

This fits the project because it illustrates my belief that people of all sizes can be sassy and stylish and deserve to wear clothes they love.

I made this dinosaur dress and it turned out to be one of my favorite things to wear! It's a mccall's pattern, I posted a pic of which one below I love the pattern so much I'm definitely going to use it again.

18  Super easy tunic top. in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by TechnicolorAquahearts on: February 03, 2017 12:21:02 AM
I recently got a job at a fabric store which means that I don't make any money I just come home with a lot of cool new fabric LOLOL! Anyway, this means I'll probably be posting to more sewing boards from now on. I've really been enjoying making my own clothes. Here is one of the easiest things I've made: all it is is a yard of 60 inch stretchy fabric cut in half at the fold and sewn up two sides and two small seams on the top for the shoulders.

The burgundy color and print were a change for me since I have a lot of pink and black in my wardrobe.

My last minute project dump:

Class: apparition + SPEW
House: Slytherin
Spew: cards for hospitalized kids
Project: mandala flower greeting card

Doodling and doing mandalas has always come really naturally to me and my tip on how to do it is to just let go and make YOUR mark don't worry about perfection or anything like that.

Class: astronomy
House: Slytherin
Project: twinkly ribbon belt

This project fits the class because meteor showers are made of twinkly stars and this belt is twinkly (there are two belts in this picture the silver one is the one for this class the pink one will be turned in for another class)

Class: divination
House: Slytherin
Project: pink punk spiky sound machine painting

Something that is a constant work in progress is my spiky sound machine art series. I'm slowly working on getting bigger and more detailed. This one is 12x12 still pretty small but I'm getting there with the way I want them to look.

Class/challenge: Floo powder: corner store
House: Slytherin
Project: from scratch alfredo sauce

This alfredo sauce was so good it ruined me on all other alfredo sauces lol. It was pretty simple to make: (I made a triple batch so it lasted me a long time, allowing it to be several snacks to enjoy in my free time)
1stick of butter
2cups of cream
4 types of cheese (Romano, Asiago, Parmesan, and ricotta)
A few cloves of garlic
Fresh rosemary
Cracked pepper

Melt the butter in a pan and simmer chopped garlic cloves with rosemary for a few minutes to release flavors add cream stirring continuously over medium heat bring cream to a boil then slowly add cheeses until cheeses are smoothly integrated into mixture allow to boil again still stirring continuously until thickened to desired thickness remove from heat and serve garnishing with cracked pepper

Class/challenge: headmistress challenge: philosopher's stone
House: Slytherin
Project: 8x8 spiky sound machine painting

Art adds to your immortality and this is one of the most serious art series I have worked on.

Class/challenge: headmistress challenge: magical me
House: Slytherin
Project: burgundy tunic top

I have really been diving into making my own clothes and designing my own style here is a top I made just for me:

Class/challenge: december detention
House: Slytherin
Project: snake like ribbon belt

Muggles have lots of magical characters in their mythology and one of my favorites is medusa from greek mythology. Belts are very snakelike so I'm turning in the pink belt in this picture.

Class/challenge: January detention
House: Slytherin
Project: soft spiky sound machine painting

My spiky sound machine series is a giant wip for me and I'm always experimenting to see how many ways I can find to elaborate on the idea. This painting is a softer approach to the subject with no sting pen lines and only brush strokes
