Thank you so much JoyfulClover!

Got to get those last trees in under the wire!

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Angel
House: Slytherin
Project: Christmas Card For a Dear Friend

This particular Christmas Card went to my friend Kim who is definitely an angel in my life.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Garland
House: Slytherin
Project: Snake tattoo art

I live in the south so we see a lot of snakes in the winter because its not cold enough for the snakes to leave but they come out of their hibernation to sun on the driveway from time to time.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Icicles
House: Slytherin
Project: Makit-Bakit Fail

Ok so we got these make it bake it kits because I always loved them when I was a kid and Erin had never tried them before, well they were actually really hard! It was way too easy to disturb the metal frame and have to start all over. I finally got mine all done and ready to go in the oven when POP! The cookie sheet warped suddenly and offset the metal design frame. Well I took a look at the pile of little plastic pellets and decided it would be cool to see what they did if I melted them anyway without the design frame. The result was this sort of blobby abstract tree art chunk. Anyway, in order to melt it it had to be kept at a certain temperature.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Tinsel
House: Slytherin
Project: Sparkly Christmas Card

This Christmas Card has a glittery pattern of sparkles painted on it above the trees.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: FakeSnow
House: Slytherin
Project: Christmas Card

I made this Christmas card with a package of blank cards from a craft store

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Baubles
House: Slytherin
Project: Christmas Card

I really love hand making my Christmas cards every year because they show off my personal style. I really like abstract art and I really like to pick a design element and vary on it in a series. With these Christmas cards I took the shape of a triangle and varied on that as much as I could.

Class/Challenge: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Slytherin
Project: Goldfish Tattoo Illustration

So, Part of why I have been MIA for a while is that during 2018 I went through a lot of transition with my employment. I had been working at a fabric/craft store for a while, but I severed my relationship with that company and on the same week that went down Erins cancer recurrence was discovered. Then I got a job at Starbucks in management which I was excited about because having been an independent artist for most of my life it was my first big girl job. Well, shortly after I started that I was offered a tattoo apprenticeship which has been a lifelong dream. So I left my big girl job after only two months to pursue the tattoo apprenticeship which brings me to my project for this prompt. I am learning to draw with an iPad using Procreate because it is great for being able to make an illustration much like you would when drawing by hand but then able to change it while consulting with clients and then just print it directly to the stencil. I am still learning and non of my procreate illustrations are tattoo worthy but Im working on it. Heres one of my first ones, It fits the prompt because the scales on the fish are an intricate pattern and the little bubbles are multiple circles.

Class/Challenge: Herbology
House: Slytherin
Project: Peanutbutter and Jelly tattoo illustration

Another practice design from my iPad. It fits the prompt because peanutbutter and jelly and best friends are two things that go together

Class/Challenge: History of Magic
House: Slytherin
Project: Flow Icing cookies

These were the cookies that I decorated out of the cookies that ErinAquaheart already posted all the recipes for. These fit this class for me because I have never decorated using the flow icing technique before. So, it was something new for me.

Class/Challenge: Transfiguration
House: Slytherin
Project: Furry monster tattoo illustration

This fits the prompt because this monster is furry.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Star
House: Slytherin
Project: Sugar and Spice tattoo illustration

This fits the prompt because drawing is my best medium

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Ribbon
House: Slytherin
Project: more Christmas cookies

These cookies fit the prompt because we decorated them around the table with Erins dads side of the family and the activity tied us together. Erin already posted the recipe on her post.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: candles
House: Slytherin
Project: Christmas Tree Mask

Erin and I always have the idea of doing cute seasonal selfies with these wooden masks you can find in the kids section of the craft store but we have yet to actually take the selfies lol. Here is my Christmas tree mask that for sure would give me a warm glow in a selfie.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: tree skirt
House: Slytherin
Project: Christmas ugly sweater T-shirt

This project fits the prompt because a T-shirt is functional but the art on it is decorative. Erin and I wanted to wear ugly Christmas sweaters together but we both always get way too hot in sweaters so we painted T-shirts. Our shirts were inspired by mid-century modern art like Piet Mondrian and Alexander Calder.
I have to post two pics because one of them doesnt show the whole shirt but has such a cute little photo bomber I couldnt leave him out.

3  My First Wedding Cake in Dessert by TechnicolorAquahearts on: December 31, 2018 02:53:44 PM
Over Christmas Vacation this year I visited my in-laws and was roped into making a wedding cake at the last minute. I have made smaller cakes before but never a big wedding cake like this. Its not perfect, it leans just a little bit because I didnt get the bottom tier level enough. Im proud of it though and the bride was very surprised and happy with it, so that was worth all the work.

Thank you so much Plaidpineapple for the kind comment on my song!

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Trees: Lights
House: Slytherin
Project: Wedding Cake

When Erin and I arrived at her mothers house this Christmas Vacation, we were informed that our help would be needed to make a wedding cake for Erins sister in law who was getting married, initially Erins sister was supposed to make it and wanted to keep it pretty simple so that the bride would at least have something to serve her guests. Well then Erins sister got sick and the main design/decorating duties fell on me and I decided that if I was going to do a cake then I was going to DO A CAKE. Needless to say I had a blast making this cake. Ive made smaller cakes before but this was the first time I was able to make a big ole cake with all the creative freedom I could want. The Only guildlines I was given were: It must incorporate blue and black, the bride really liked ombr color schemes, and NO FLOWERS. The bride was totally surprised and completely lit up when she saw it. She had only expected a simple cake to serve not a full on wedding cake. It felt really good to be able to use my talents to make someones wedding day More memorable.

Class/challenge: flying
House: Slytherin
Project: spirit lifting emoji cookies
These cookies are sure to give you a lift:

Class/Challenge: Study of Ancient Runes
House: Slytherin
Project: microscopic perspective cell drawing

This drawing is inspired by different cells in the human body forcing the viewer to consider a microscopic perspective

Class/Challenge: Panam
House: Slytherin
Project: Bear Painting

As you all have probably already read, my partner Erin, has had a recurrence of her cancer because of that we are in Waco, TX visiting her family. Well, this happens to be where Erin and I met at Baylor University. Baylor has a mascot of the bear. Also at Baylor there is a strong pressure to be pretty conformist, so in the spirit of me definitely not being a conformist I made my own version of a bear. But all of this fits the prompt because Baylor feels very much like a home town.

Class/Challenge: head Mistress Challenge: Vanishing Cabinet
House: Slytherin
Project: penguin postcard
This project fits the prompt because postcards are supposed to be mailed somewhere else.

Class/Challenge: Unicorn Challenge: unicorn
House: Slytherin
Project: unicorn painting

Class/Challenge: unicorn challenge: cupcake
House: Slytherin
Project: tropical dream dessert

This dessert was really good and it was really easy, I didnt measure anything but here is what I did: I took a bowl of heavy whipping cream, sweetened it to taste with agave nectar and added some citrus liqueur for flavor and then whipped it up with a hand blender. I then served it with fruit.

Class/Challenge: unicorn challenge: mermaid
House: Slytherin
Project: narwhal painting

Narwhals are sea creatures:

Class/Challenge: unicorn: unicornicopia
House: Slytherin
Project: textile art cityscape
This project combines two of the unicorn prompts by having more than five colors and having elements that are glittery

Class/Challenge: headmistress challenge for February
House: Slytherin
Project: Lightly Lemony Watercolor Cookies

The decorating technique for these cookies used gel food coloring and lemon extract to make "watercolor" paint this adding a subtle lemon aroma to the cookies which made them wonderfully tasty. I am technically turning in the decorating of the cookies as my project as ErinAquaheart baked them for me to decorate so it's her recipe, I believe she shared it in an hpc thread many semesters back but I'll get her to post it again.

Class: Astronomy
House: Slytherin
Project: free form mixed media painting

This painting was relaxing and free, I just let the paint happen as I went and the same with the patterns and lines I drew on top with ink.

Class/challenge: floo: aviary
House: Slytherin
Project: art journaling demo page

I am lucky enough to get to do crafting demos at work and this weekend I was demo-ing for an art journaling class. Here's one of my pages:

Class/challenge: July Detention
House: Slytherin
Project: Starry Shirt

I have had this shirt cut out and sitting on my desk for a few months so it was about time to finish it up. It turned out a little small so I'll have to wait a little bit before I can wear it.

Class/challenge: Quidditch match 8 Wollongong
House: Slytherin
Project: tape resist name painting with Wollongong zigzags

This project was one that I taught in my craft camp at work and in my last session I decided to make one for me too. It has the required zigzags to make a play for Wollongong.

Class/challenge: Quidditch match 10 Chudley
House: Slytherin
Project: Brightly colored song lyric journal page

Another one of my art journaling demos. I was supposed to follow the prompt "favorite song lyric" so this page is about the song Ceremonial (burst into stars) by Blaqk Audio and it is brightly colored.

Class/challenge: quidditch match 11 Moosejaw
House: Slytherin
Project: "word of the year" journal page

Another art journal prompt I did during my demo was "word of the year" and my word is "sing" because this whole year I've been recording music and singing. It makes a play for Moosejaw because it has sparkly tape and ink on it.

~ Completed Newt ~

Newt subject: Alchemy

My alchemy newt was to explore the elements of alchemy earth, air, water, and Fire by making an art series and by exploring lots of different art techniques.
I started this as an owl a few years ago and then suspended it and picked it up as a newt. I never thought that studying alchemy would have made my learn so many things about myself! When working on this newt I came up with lots of ideas and sketches and ultimately executed a few of those ideas into several small complete works. Here are some of my ideas:

Elemental sprites:

Elemental icons:

Sketches for some 3d ceramic work:

Here are the finished pieces I ended up with and some process pics:

Gelatin Printing with added drawing:

Mixed media watercolor:

Textile art:

As I studied the elements and processes of alchemy I realized that the "gold" you are really looking for is self awareness and awakening so the little triptych of the girl waking up is the transmutation part. If you learn to work with the elements of your life and create a life's work or magnum opus that is the true transmutation. I can't wait to continue this series and grow into larger works and flesh out some of my other ideas like the element sprites and making the rest of the ceramic vessels for each element.

Completed Owl:

Owl subject: transfiguration
House: Slytherin
Project: crocheted afghan

I proposed that I would transfigured lots of yarn into a warm throw sized blanket. I have completed this task and I even think it's a little bigger than I anticipated.

I chose the "one giant granny square" method.

Class: transfiguration
House: Slytherin
Project: my first kanzashi flower

I have been wanting to learn to make kanzashi flowers for a long time and then I saw a plastic thingy that they sold at my work to help you make them so I had to try it. The kanzashi maker thing was super fun and easy to use! My first flower didn't turn out as tight as I would like but I'm still happy with it. I'll wear it as a pin or an anywhere clip.
