1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How long is a 3/4 coat? on: December 31, 2012 08:23:58 AM
Hello- I have a very long coat. I want to cut it down to 3/4 or 7/8. Could anyone tell me how long (how many inches from the shoulder or where in relation to the knee) that would be. Its a beautiful muted cranberry wool coat and I don't want to ruin it or make it look odd.   thanks so much- Sally
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Velcro Dots on: January 05, 2009 06:12:22 PM
I like velcro a lot and prefer it as a closing technique, but i have yet to find a good way to attach it.  I always quickly grab the sticky back one when i am shopping because that is all they have and i am always sorry.

these are really pretty.  I think if you try to re-create them you would have to worry that the attachment at the end might not hold the weight of the bag.  How about just knotting it and hiding the knot in the seam?

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Designer Rip off Bags at a Christmas Craft fair on: December 07, 2008 01:00:37 PM
I am so bummed out. I have no one to rant to so please forgive me I hope this is not  an inappropriate subject. ---- I paid $75 dollars for a table hosted by a Church/School.-- $75 is a lot for me but people had told me they get a really good turnout so I tried it.  A man not 20 feet from me had 2 tables of designer rip off handbags.  I make and sell crochet, knitted or sewn handbags and Totes. I sat all day and watched people line up at his table.  I didn't have a chance, I could have cried.  I think my things are really special and reasonably priced.  The fair was billed as Christmas gifts and crafts. I feel so sad about it.  How can you compete with that?
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: To clip or not to clip... on: October 23, 2008 04:40:29 AM
Do you think the pattern maker is trying to make you have a straight edge that matches perfectly to the piece you are sewing it on to- so you will be able to see it better?

I hate that too. I feel foolish when I am carefully sewing along, trying to stay straight, watching the needle punch in and out, all seems fine and then when I finish...... whoops.... a long line of loose thread - ugh!!!  - Ya gotta laugh and hang in there. thanks for sharing

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Why is my thread breaking? HELP please!! on: September 27, 2008 05:47:48 PM
I have been the same problem - I tried everything I can think of- I think its my thread  be cause I have never had this problem before.  I plan on giving the  bobbin spot a good cleaning.  I was thinking there might be too much fuzz in there.
