11  Lace knitting in Knitting: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: August 08, 2012 07:09:50 AM
I have really fallen in love with lace. I've had the "I Can't Believe I'm Lace Knitting" book by Kay Meadors for a while know and finally did one of the patterns out of it a few months back that I'm quite proud of and thought I'd share with fellow knitters. Apparently no one has done this pattern and put it on Ravelry...I couldn't find it at all (here's my project link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/clumsymomma/table-cover). It was an interesting and frustrating lesson when it came to blocking this beast and I will not go into any further detail about that process...

Anywho, pictures!

Thanks for looking. Smiley

Class (or House Pride Item): Charms
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Wrap-around cowl
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: I know that it is basically summer, but I've been fighting with this yarn for months. We argued and fought. She didn't want to be socks and then she didn't want to be a skirt...Nothing was making her happy. I even tried mixing her with several other yarn friends to see if that made her happy. Finally, we both agreed that simplicity may be the best for the both of us. This is a simple cowl that I was able to make in just a few days. It's long enough to wrap loosely around twice and several times if you needed to bundle up!  The pattern that is almost wave-like and the yarn color reminds me of the water. Okay...So, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon as well...This is just a great Craftalong and I've enjoyed everything that I've seen so far! I'm in awe of all the amazing wizardry that has been posted.

Class: Muggles Studies
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Table Cover
Brief Description: I have learned that Muggles like to decorate and cover up EVERYTHING! I have seen Muggles cover their tables and chairs with dainty items that must be taken off prior to using these pieces of furniture so as not to ruin the item. It seems like a lot of work to do without the use of magic, but it makes them happy. I made this for a Muggle who will be thrilled to have a new item to cover things up with. This was a long project but did not finish the item until this week. A lot of magic was needed, especially when blocking the lace to the appropriate size. Please forgive the bad images. I am still learning how to use this picture taker that was given to me.

Edit to add: Pattern is from I Can't Believe I'm Lace Knitting by Kay Meadors

Alrighty, so I received from the lovely monkey_girl! Just a friendly warning, I suck at taking pictures. Please forgive me.

First off, all of the items wrapped up because I thought this was a super awesome way to wrap them..all different kinds of paper and such.

And for the goodies! My real name is Andrea btw

A-   Accessories for your hair

My daughter has stolen the headband and is wearing it non-stop! I have a feeling that she may be trying to steal the other ones, so Im going to have to hide them.

N- Necklace

This is a really neat fabric necklace thats going to be fun to play around with.

D- dollars and cents

I collect foreign coins and she sent some awesome ones! It looks like three different countries including the one that shes from (New Zealand) and she made an awesome pouch to hold them! My daughter and I had fun looking at all of themShe wasnt quick enough to add them to her little stash 

R- rectangular pouch

How freakin cute is this! I love it. She included some yummy looking chocolate which will more than likely be gone by the time I finish this post. It is also the perfect size to carry tea or something of that nature when the chocolate is gone!

E- elephant

Im a huge fan of elephants. This little guy will fit right in with my growing collection of elephants. Im also super impressed with monkey_girls sewing skills because theres no way I would have been able to make this.

A-   A whole lot of craft supplies

She wasnt exaggerating! Theres some pom poms, felt butterflies (I already have plans for this for my daughter!), star stickers, string, ladybug wood pieces, and a felt piece that matches the pouch that she made. I have several ideas for everything already and am super excited. Especially because I do not own a hot glue gun (shocking I know!) and this gives me a really good excuse to buy one! 

Thank you so much monkey_girl!

So, I received on Saturday but didn't get a chance to open and take pictures until today! I got super spoiled by my partner, sarahj2001. Sorry for the wonky-sized photos...I got tired of waiting on photobucket to re-size...I'm impatient.

First up, a picture of the total package:

Sender's choice (which I absolutely LOVE and can't wait to work with!):

Round (a crocheted hat that my daughter has claimed):

Funny (traffic cones!!):

Local (I can't wait to work with this yarn either, I love the color!):

Hard (I believe that Sarah made these soaps as well!):

And related to "T," I could not for the life of me get a decent picture by itself. It is in the group shot if you look closely. Related to "T" is a teeny-tiny skein necklace! How freakin cute is that?!?!

I got lucky to get Sarah as my partner Smiley

So I've finally had a chance to upload my amazing spoilage from two awesome ladies. Please forgive the horrible photos, I'm still working on properly learning how to use my camera  Embarrassed :

I received from Quaggy (FYI- she has awesome sewing skills!):
A- apron which is already getting use in the kitchen.
N- new scissor holder (with new scissors too!)
I- Individual mug organizer

The super cute pocket.

And everything that was shoved in there! Buttons, fabric and other super awesome odds and ends  Grin

The next day I received from Kayrun!
D- darling turtle amigurumi which has made a comfortable transition into the turtle family here. Your knitting skills are better than mine when it comes to making animals and I'm jealous!
E- Extra yarn! I needed a yarn fix, so I was exited about this.

thank you both so much! I feel very spoiled.  Cheesy

I just wanted to post pictures of what I sent to edenkitty because I'm sure she's busy.

There's a knitted beret, a button clip, two flower hairties, two (or three...can't remember) knit headbands, and an octopus hair clip and the brown with circles fabric is a hair scarf.

I've finally gotten around to taking pictures of my socks.

This is a basic pattern found in knitted socks by Anna Tillman with knitpicks yarn and is the only pair that is 100% finished

The I have these that are from a pattern that I found on Ravelry...I'll look up the name later. I'm not super thrilled about the way the pattern is written which may be partially why I haven't started on the second but it does look gorgeous when finished! It has a neat slip stitch heel.

And just a random both socks together picture

Yay! SlickMariaVic, I gotta say, again, that I'm so glad that you like it all! I had a blast doing it all. The cowl looks amazing on you.

Oh, and pictures of the cowl that you made:

Please forgive the messiness that is me...
